Safety information for children
●It is recommended that children sit in the rear seats to avoid accidental con-
tact with the shift lever, wiper switch etc.
●Use the rear door child-protector lock or the window lock switch to avoid
children opening the door while drivin g or operating the power window acci-
dentally. ( P. 143, 193)
●Do not let small children operate equipment which may catch or pinch body
parts, such as the power window, hood, trunk, seats etc.
Observe the following precautions when children are in the vehicle.
Use a child restraint system appropriate for the child, until the child becomes
large enough to properly wear the vehicle’s seat belt.
WARNING
Never leave children unattended in the vehicl e, and never allow children to have or use the key.
Children may be able to start the vehicle or sh ift the vehicle into neutral. There is also a danger that children may injure themselves by playing with the windows, the moon roof (if equipped) or other features of the vehicle. In addition, heat build-up or extremely
cold temperatures inside the vehicle can be fatal to children.

For safety and security
Alarm
The alarm uses light and sound to give an alert when an intrusion is detected.
The alarm is triggered in the following situations when the alarm is set:
●A locked door is unlocked or opened in any way other than using the entry
function or wireless remote control. (The door will lock again automatically.)
●A trunk is opened in any way other than using the entry function, wireless
remote control or mechanical key.
●The hood is opened.
●The tilt sensor detects a change of vehicle inclination. (if equipped)
Close the doors, trunk and hood, and
lock all the doors using the entry func-
tion or wireless remote control. The
system will be set automatically after
30 seconds.

■Triggering of the alarm
The alarm may be triggered in the following situations: (Stopping the alarm deactivates the alarm system.)
■Alarm-operated door lock
In the following cases, the door may automatically lock:
●When a person remain ing in the vehicle unlocks the door and the alarm is activated.
●While the alarm is activated, a person remaining in the vehicle unlocks the door.
●When recharging or replacing the 12-volt battery.
■Customization
The alarm can be set to deactivate when the mechanical key is used to unlock. (Customizable features: P. 561)
●The doors are unlocked using the mechanical key, or the trunk is opened using the mechani-
cal key.
●A person inside the vehicle opens a door, the trunk or hood, or unlocks the vehicle using an
inside lock button.
●The 12-volt battery is recharged or replaced when the vehicle is locked. ( P. 533)
NOTICE
■To ensure the system operates correctly
Do not modify or remove the system. If mo dified or removed, the proper operation of
the system cannot be guaranteed.

■If the PCS warning light flashes and a warnin g message is displayed on the multi-infor- mation display
The pre-crash safety system may be temporar ily unavailable or there may be a malfunc-
tion in the system.
●In the following situations, the warning light will turn off, the message will disappear and the system will become operational when normal operating conditions return:
• When the radar sensor or camera sensor or the area around either sensor is hot, such as in the sun• When the radar sensor or camera sensor or the area around either sensor is cold,
such as in an extremely cold environment • When the radar sensor or front grille emblem is dirty or covered with snow, etc.• When the part of the windshield in front of the camera sensor is fogged up or cov-
ered with condensation or ice (Defogging the windshield: P. 352) • If the camera sensor is obstructed, such as when the hood is open or a sticker isattached to the windshield near the camera sensor
●If the PCS warning light continues to flash or the warning message does not disappear,the system may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus
retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer immediately.
■If VSC is disabled
●If VSC is disabled (P. 327), the pre-crash brake assist and pre-crash braking func-
tions are also disabled.
●The PCS warning light will turn on and “VSC Turned Off Pre-Crash Brake System Unavailable” will be displayed on the multi-information display.

Hood
Pull the hood lock release lever.
The hood will pop up slightly.
Pull up the auxiliary catch lever and
lift the hood.
Release the lock from the inside of the vehicle to open the hood.

■Pre-driving check
Check that the hood is fully closed and locked.
If the hood is not locked properly, it may op en while the vehicle is in motion and cause an accident, which may result in death or serious injury.
