Key not in vehicle
If the smart key is not in the vehicle and
if any door is opened or closed with the
engine start/stop button in the ACC, ON,
or START position, the warning illumi-
nates on the LCD display. Also, the chime
sounds for 5 seconds when the smart
key is not in the vehicle and the door isclosed.
Always have the smart key with you.
Key not detected
If the smart key is not in the vehicle or is
not detected and you press the engine
start/stop button, the warning illuminates
on the LCD display for 10 seconds. Also,
the immobilizer indicator blinks for 10
seconds.
Press START button with key
If you press the engine start/stop button
while the warning “Key not detected” illu-
minates the warning “Press START but-
ton with key” illuminates for 10 seconds
on the LCD display. Also, the immobilizer
indicator blinks for 10 seconds.

Low Key Battery
If the engine start/stop button changes to
the OFF position when the smart key in
the vehicle discharges, the warning illu-
minates on the LCD display for about 10
seconds. Also, the warning chime
sounds once.
Replace the battery with a new one.
Press brake pedal to start engine (for automatic transaxle)
If the engine start/stop button changes to
the ACC position twice by pressing the
button repeatedly without depressing the
brake pedal, the warning illuminates on
the LCD display for about 10 seconds to
indicate that you should depress the
brake pedal to start the engine.
Press clutch pedal to start engine (for manual transaxle)
If the engine start/stop button turns to the
ACC position twice by pressing the but-ton repeatedly without depressing the
clutch pedal, the warning illuminates on
the LCD display for about 10 seconds to
indicate that you should depress the
clutch pedal to start the engine.

Shift to P (for automatic transaxle)
If you try to turn off the engine without the
shift lever in the P (Park) position, the
engine start/stop button will turn to the
ACC position. If the button is pressed
once more it will turn to the ON position.
The warning illuminates on the LCD dis-
play for about 10 seconds to indicate that
you should press the engine start/stop
button with the shift lever in the P (Park)
position to turn off the engine.
Also, the warning chime sounds for about
10 seconds. (if equipped)
Press START button again
If you can not operate the engine
start/stop button when there is a problem
with the engine start/stop button system,
the warning illuminates for 10 seconds
and the chime sounds continuously to
indicate that you could start the engine
by pressing the engine start/stop button
once more. The chime will stop if the engine
start/stop button system works normally
or the theft alarm system is armed.
If the warning illuminates each time you
press the engine start/stop button, we
recommend that you have the vehicle
inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as
soon as possible.
Shift to P or N to start engine
(for automatic transaxle)
If you try to start the engine with the shift
lever not in the P(Park) or N(Neutral)
position, the warning illuminates for
about 10 seconds on the LCD display.
You can also start the engine with the
shift lever in the N(Neutral) position, but
for your safety start the engine with the
shift lever in the P(Park) position.

Press START button while turningwheel
If the steering wheel does not unlock nor-
mally when the engine start/stop button
is pressed, the warning illuminates for 10
seconds on the LCD display. Also, the
warning chime sounds once and the
engine start/stop button light blinks for 10
seconds.
When you are warned, press the engine
start/stop button while turning the steer-
ing wheel right and left.
Check Steering Wheel Lock System
If the steering wheel does not lock nor-
mally when the engine start/stop button
changes to the OFF position, the warning
illuminates for 10 seconds on the LCD
display. Also, the warning chime sounds
for 3 seconds and the engine start/stop
button light blinks for 10 seconds.
Steering wheel unlocked
If the steering wheel does not lock nor-
mally when the ENGINE START/STOP
button turns to the OFF position, the
warning illuminates for 10 minutes on the
LCD display.

Check BRAKE SWITCH fuse
(if equipped)
When the brake switch fuse is discon-
nected, the warning illuminates for 10
seconds on the LCD display.
Replace the fuse with a new one. If that
is not possible you can start the engine
by pressing the engine start/stop button
for 10 seconds in ACC.
Door / Tailgate open
The indicator appears to inform the driv- er which door or tailgate is opened.
Rear parking assist warning(if equipped)
It displays the area an obstacle is detect-
ed while moving rearward.
For details, refer to “Rear parking assist
system” in section 4.

Align steering wheel(if equipped)
If you start the engine when the steering
wheel is turned 90 degrees to the left
after a couple of seconds, “Align steering
wheel” illuminates on the LCD display for
5 seconds.
Turn the steering wheel to the right and
make it turned to the left less than 30
degrees.
Align steering wheel(if equipped)
If you start the engine when the steering
wheel is turned 90 degrees to the right
after a couple of seconds, “Align steering
wheel” illuminates on the LCD display for
5 seconds.
Turn the steering wheel to the left and
make it turned to the right less than 30
degrees.
Align steering wheel complete (if equipped)
If the steering wheel is aligned within 5
seconds after “Align steering wheel” is
displayed, the indicator will appear for
1.5 seconds like the above picture.

Low tire pressure (if equipped)
This warning message will illuminate
when one or more of your tires is signifi-
cantly underinflated.
In this case, we recommend that you
have the vehicle inspected by an author-
ized Kia dealer as soon as possible. Warnings and indicators
All warning lights are checked by turning
the ignition switch ON (do not start the
engine). If any light is still ON, this indi-cates a situation that needs attention.
After starting the engine, check to make
sure that all warning lights are off. If anyare still on, this indicates a situation that
needs attention. When releasing the
parking brake, the brake system warning
light should go off. The fuel warning light
will stay on if the fuel level is low.
ECO indicator
(if equipped) (Automatic transaxle)
The ECO indicator is a system that
informs you to drive economically.
It is displayed if you drive fuel efficiently
to help you improve fuel efficiency.
The ECO indicator (green) will turn on when you are driving fuel efficiently in
the ECO ON mode.
If you don't want the indicator dis-
played, you can turn the ECO ON
mode to OFF mode by pressing the
RESET button.
As per ECO ON/OFF Mode operation,
refer to the previous page.
The fuel-efficiency can be changed by the driver's driving habit and road con-dition.
It doesn't work at the condition which doesn't meet economical driving such
as P (Park), N (Neutral), R (Reverse).
While the instant fuel consumption mode is displayed on the LCD screen,
the ECO indicator turns off.

Air bag warning light(if equipped)
This warning light will illuminate for
approximately 6 seconds each time you
turn the ignition switch to the ON position. This light also comes on when the
Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) is
not working properly. If the SRS air bag
warning light does not come on, or
continuously remains on after operating
for about 6 seconds when you turned the
ignition switch to the ON position or start-
ed the engine, or if it comes on while
driving, we recommend that you have the
vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia
dealer.
Anti-lock brake system
(ABS) warning light (if equipped)
This warning light illuminates if the igni-
tion switch is turned ON and goes off in
approximately 3 seconds if the system is
operating normally.
If the ABS warning light remains on,
comes on while driving, or does not come
on when the ignition switch is turned tothe ON position, this indicates that there
may be a malfunction with the ABS.
In this case, we recommend that you have
the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia
dealer. The normal braking system will still
be operational, but without the assistance
of the anti-lock brake system.
WARNING
Don't keep watching the indicator
while driving. It will distract youwhile driving and cause an accident
that results in severe personal injury.
