OPERATING THE HOMELINK®
UNIVERSAL TRANSCEIVER
The HomeLink® Universal Transceiver, after it is
programmed, can be used to activate the pro-
grammed device.
1. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
2. Press button
2,3or4which you have
programed to operate the garage door.
Garage door system with a fixed code: indi-
cator lamp

Garage door system with a rolling code:

1flashes green.
The transmitter will transmit a signal as long as
the button is pressed. The transmission is
halted after a maximum of ten seconds and
indicator lamp

For convenience, the hand-held transmitter of
the device may also be used at any time.
CLEARING THE PROGRAMMED
INFORMATION
Make sure that you clear the memory of the
integrated garage door opener before selling
the vehicle.
1. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
2. Press and hold buttons
2and4.
The indicator lamp initially lights up yellow
and then green.
3. Release buttons
2and4.
The memory of the integrated garage door
opener in the rear-view mirror is cleared.
IF YOUR VEHICLE IS STOLEN
If your vehicle is stolen, you should change the
codes of any non-rolling code device that has
been programmed into HomeLink®. Consult the
Owner’s Manual of each device or call the
manufacturer of those devices for additional
information or contact an INFINITI retailer.

INFINITI INTELLIGENT KEY
Your vehicle can only be driven with the Intelli-
gent Keys which are registered to your vehicle’s
Intelligent Key System components and INFINITI
Vehicle Immobilizer System components.
Never leave the keys in the vehicle.
As many as four Intelligent Keys can be regis-
tered and used with one vehicle. The new keys
must be registered prior to use with the Intelli-
gent Key System and INFINITI Vehicle Immobi-
lizer System of your vehicle. It is recommended
that you visit an INFINITI retailer for this service.
Since the registration process requires erasing
all memory in the Intelligent Key components
when registering new keys, be sure to take all
Intelligent Keys that you have to the INFINITI
retailer.A key number plate is supplied with your keys.
Record the key number and keep it in a safe
place (such as your wallet), not in the vehicle. If
you lose your keys, it is recommended that you
visit an INFINITI retailer for duplicates by using
the key number. INFINITI does not record key
numbers so it is very important to keep track of
your key number plate.
A key number is only necessary when you have
lost all keys and do not have one to duplicate
from. If you still have a key, it can be duplicated
without knowing the key number.CAUTION
Listed below are conditions or occurrences
which will damage the Intelligent Key:
•Do not allow the Intelligent Key, which con-
tains electrical components, to come into
contact with water or salt water. This could
affect the system function.
•Do not drop the Intelligent Key.
•Do not strike the Intelligent Key sharply
against another object.
•Do not change or modify the Intelligent Key.
•Wetting may damage the Intelligent Key. If
the Intelligent Key gets wet, immediately
wipe until it is completely dry.
•Do not place the Intelligent Key for an ex-
tended period in an area where tempera-
tures exceed 140
oF (60oC).
•Do not attach the Intelligent Key with a key
holder that contains a magnet.
•Do not place the Intelligent Key near equip-
ment that produces a magnetic field, such
as a TV, audio equipment and personal
computers.
If an Intelligent Key is lost or stolen, INFINITI
recommends erasing the ID code of that Intelli-
gent Key. This will prevent the Intelligent Key
from unauthorized use to unlock the vehicle. For
information regarding the erasing procedure,
please contact an INFINITI retailer.
Mechanical key
CAUTION
Always carry the mechanical key installed in
the Intelligent Key.

Valet hand-off
To prevent the glove box from being opened
during valet hand-off, follow the procedure be-
low.
1. Remove the mechanical key from the Intel-
ligent Key.
2. Lock the glove box with the mechanical key.
3. Hand the Intelligent Key to the valet and
keep the mechanical key with you.

INFINITI VEHICLE IMMOBILIZER
SYSTEM KEYS
You can only drive your vehicle using the Intel-
ligent Keys which are registered to the INFINITI
Vehicle Immobilizer System components in your
vehicle.
The mechanical key can be used for all the
locks.
Never leave the keys in the vehicle.
Additional or replacement keys:
If you still have a key, the key number is not
necessary when you need extra INFINITI Vehicle
Immobilizer System keys. Your existing key can
be duplicated without knowing the key number.
As many as four INFINITI Vehicle Immobilizer
System keys can be used with one vehicle. You
should bring all INFINITI Vehicle Immobilizer
System keys that you have to the INFINITI
retailer for registration. This is because the
registration process will erase the memory of all
key codes previously registered into the INFINITI
Vehicle Immobilizer System. After the registra-
tion process, these components will only recog-
nize keys coded into the INFINITI Vehicle Immo-
bilizer System during registration. Any key that
is not given to the retailer at the time of
registration will no longer be able to start your
vehicle.
CAUTION
Do not allow the immobilizer system key,
which contains an electrical transponder, to
come into contact with water or salt water. This
could affect system function.

When the doors are locked using one of the
following methods, the doors cannot be opened
using the inside or outside door handles. The
doors must be unlocked to open the doors.
WARNING
•Before opening any door, always look for
and avoid oncoming traffic.
•Do not leave children unattended inside the
vehicle. They could unknowingly activate
switches or controls. Unattended children
could become involved in serious accidents.
•Do not leave children or adults who would
normally require the assistance of others
alone in your vehicle. Pets should also not
be left alone. They could accidentally injure
themselves or others through inadvertent
operation of the vehicle. Also, on hot, sunny
days, temperatures in a closed vehicle
could quickly become high enough to cause
severe or possibly fatal injuries to people or
animals.
LOCKING WITH THE KEY
1Locks the vehicle.
2Unlocks the vehicle.
3Panic button.
If you do not open the vehicle within approxi-
mately 40 seconds of unlocking, the vehicle will
lock again and protection against theft is reac-
tivated.
To lock centrally, press button

When unlocking, the turn signals flash once
When locking, they flash three times.
Intelligent key
You can combine the Intelligent Key functions
with the functions of a conventional key. Unlock
the vehicle by using Intelligent key function, for
instance, and lock it using the
button on
the key.
The driver’s door and the door at which the
handle is used, must both be closed. The key
must be outside the vehicle. When locking or
unlocking with Intelligent key, the distance
between the key and the corresponding door
handle must not be greater than 1 m.

You can also set an audible signal to con firm

The driver’s door can be locked/unlocked from
outside using the mechanical key if the battery
is dead.
To lock the door, insert the mechanical key into
the driver’s door key cylinder and turn it to-
wards the front of the vehicle

NOTE
The alarm system will be triggered when the
door is opened using the mechanical key (alarm
equipped models). To stop the alarm, turn the
ignition key to the ON position or press the un-
lock button (
) on the key.
There are several ways to deactivate the alarm:
•To deactivate the alarm with the key:press
theorbutton on the key.
or
Insert the key into the ignition lock.
•Lock or unlock the vehicle using Intelligent
Key. The key must be outside the vehicle
If you unlock the vehicle using the emergency
key element, the fuel filler lid will not be
unlocked automatically. To unlock the fuel filler
lid, insert the key into the ignition lock.

The power door lock switch, located on the door

AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS
The vehicle is locked automatically when the
ignition is switched on and the wheels are
turning.
You could therefore be locked out if:
•The vehicle is being pushed.
•The vehicle is being towed.
•The vehicle is being tested on a dynamometer.

CHILD SAFETY REAR DOOR LOCK
The child safety lock helps prevent doors from
being opened accidentally, especially when
small children are in the vehicle.
When the switch is in the LOCK
2position, the
rear door can only be opened from the outside.
LIFT GATE LOCK
To open the lift gate, unlock it first with one of
the following operations, then push the button
1.
•Push thebutton on the key or Intelli-
gent Key (if equipped). SeeINFINITI intelli-
gent key systemlater in this section.
•Unlock all the doors using the key.
To close the lift gate, pull it down until it
securely locks.

WARNING
•Radio waves could adversely affect electric
medical equipment. Those who use a pace-
maker should contact the electric medical
equipment manufacturer for the possible in-
fluences before use.
•The Intelligent Key transmits radio waves
when the buttons are pushed. The FAA ad-
vises that the radio waves may affect air-
craft navigation and communication sys-
tems. Do not operate the Intelligent Key
while on an airplane. Make sure that the
buttons are not operated unintentionally
when the unit is stored for a flight.
