5. When closing the hood, replace the support rod in its original position

the hood to about8–12in.(20–30cm)
above the hood lock, then let it drop. Make
sure the hood is securely latched.
WARNING
•Make sure the hood is completely closed
and latched before driving. Failure to do so
could cause the hood to fly open and result
in an accident.
•If you see steam or smoke coming from the
engine compartment, to avoid injury do not
open the hood.
OPENING FUEL-FILLER DOOR
To open the fuel-filler door, unlock it using one
of the following operations, then push the right
side of the door

•Push the door handle request switch with the
Intelligent Key carried with you.
•Push the “UNLOCK”button on the
Intelligent Key.
•Push the power door lock switch to the
“UNLOCK”position.
To close the fuel-filler door, close the door until
it securely latches. To lock the fuel filler door,
lock the vehicle using the intelligent key.
FUEL-FILLER CAP
Turn the fuel-filler cap counterclockwise to re-
move. To tighten, turn the cap clockwise until a
single click is heard.
Put the fuel-filler cap on the cap holder
2while refueling.
WARNING
•Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly
explosive under certain conditions. You
could be burned or seriously injured if it is
misused or mishandled. Always stop the en-
gine and do not smoke or allow open flames
or sparks near the vehicle when refueling.
•Do not attempt to top off the fuel tank after
the fuel pump nozzle shuts off automati-
cally. Continued refueling may cause fuel
overflow, resulting in fuel spray and possi-
bly a fire.
•Use only an original equipment type fuel-
filler cap as a replacement. It has a built-in
safety valve needed for proper operation of
the fuel system and emission control sys-
tem. An incorrect cap can result in a serious
malfunction and possible injury.
•Never pour fuel into the throttle body to
attempt to start your vehicle.

TIRE EQUIPMENT
1. SUMMER tires have a tread designed to provide superior performance on dry pave-
ment. However, the performance of these
tires will be substantially reduced in snowy
and icy conditions. If you operate your ve-
hicle on snowy or icy roads, INFINITI recom-
mends the use of MUD & SNOW or ALL
SEASON TIRES on all four wheels. It is rec-
ommended that you visit an INFINITI retailer
for the tire type, size, speed rating and
availability information.
2. For additional traction on icy roads, studded tires may be used. However, some U.S.
states and Canadian provinces prohibit their
use. Check local, state and provincial laws
before installing studded tires.
Skid and traction capabilities of studded snow
tires, on wet or dry surfaces, may be poorer than
that of non-studded snow tires.
3. Tire chains may be used if desired. Make sure they are the proper size for the tires on
your vehicle and are installed according to
the chain manufacturer’s instructions. Use
chain tensioners when recommended by the
tire chain manufacturer to ensure a tight fit. Loose end links of the tire chains must be
secured or removed to prevent the possibil-
ity of whipping action damage to the fenders
or underbody. In addition, drive at a reduced
speed, otherwise, your vehicle may be dam-
aged and/or vehicle handling and perfor-
mance may be adversely affected.
SPECIAL WINTER EQUIPMENT
It is recommended that the following items be
carried in the vehicle during the winter:
•A scraper and stiff-bristled brush to remove
ice and snow from the windows.
•A sturdy, flat board to be placed under the
jack to give it firm support.
•A shovel to dig the vehicle out of snowdrifts.
•Extra washer fluid to refill the windshield
washer fluid reservoir.
DRIVING ON SNOW OR ICE
WARNING
•Wet ice (32°F, 0°C and freezing rain), very
cold snow or ice can be slick and very hard
to drive on. The vehicle will have much less
traction or “grip” under these conditions.
Try to avoid driving on wet ice until the road
is salted or sanded.
•Whatever the condition, drive with caution.
Accelerate and slow down with care. If ac-
celerating or downshifting too fast, the
drive wheels will lose even more traction.
•Allow more stopping distance under these
conditions. Braking should be started
sooner than on dry pavement.
•Allow greater following distances on slip-
pery roads.
•Watch for slippery spots (glare ice). These
may appear on an otherwise clear road in
shaded areas. If a patch of ice is seen ahead,
brake before reaching it. Try not to brake
while on the ice, and avoid any sudden
steering maneuvers.
•Do not use cruise control on slippery roads.
•Snow can trap dangerous exhaust gas un-
der your vehicle. Keep snow clear of the
exhaust pipe and from around your vehicle.

WARNING
The engine cooling system is filled at the fac-
tory with a high-quality, year-round, antifreeze
coolant solution. The antifreeze solution con-
tains rust and corrosion inhibitors, therefore
additional cooling system additives are not
necessary.
•Never remove the radiator or coolant reser-
voir cap when the engine is hot. Wait until
the engine and radiator cool down. Serious
burns could be caused by high-pressure
fluid escaping from the radiator. For addi-

•The engine coolant reservoir tank is
equipped with a pressure type cap. To pre-
vent engine damage, use only a genuine
INFINITI pressure cap.
CAUTION
•Never use any cooling system additives
such as radiator sealer. Additives may clog
the cooling system and cause damage to
the engine, transmission and/or cooling
system.
