CAUTION
To avoid draining the vehicle battery, only use
a phone after starting the engine.
Your vehicle is equipped with a Bluetooth®
Hands-Free Phone System. If you are an owner
of a compatible Bluetooth® enabled cellular
phone, you can set up the wireless connection
between your cellular phone and the in-vehicle
phone module. With Bluetooth® wireless tech-
nology, you can make or receive a telephone
call with your cellular phone in your pocket.
Once a cellular phone is connected to the
in-vehicle phone module, the procedure for
connecting the phone does not need to be performed again. Your phone is automatically
selected by the in-vehicle phone module when
the ignition switch is switched to the ON posi-
tion with the selected cellular phone turned on
and carried in the vehicle.
You can register up to 5 different Bluetooth®
cellular phones to the in-vehicle phone module.
However, you can talk on only one cellular
phone at a time.
The Voice Recognition system supports phone
commands, so dialing a phone number using
your voice is possible.

Before using the Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone
System, refer to the following notes.
•Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) and the Bluetooth®
functions share the same frequency band
(2.4 GHz). Using the Bluetooth® and wire-
less LAN functions at the same time may
slow down or disrupt communications and
could cause undesired noise. It is recom-
mended that you turn wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) off
when using the Bluetooth® functions.
•Set up the wireless connection between a
compatible cellular phone and the in-vehicle
phone module before using the Bluetooth®
Hands-Free Phone System.

WARNING

tive driving may lead to a crash resulting in
serious injuries or death.NOTE
When Email service and calendar schedule infor-
mation are displayed on the in-vehicle display,
the system controls the display based on the
in-vehicle profiles (user ID and password).
Therefore, users are required to create a profile
to make use of Email and calendar services. IMPORTANT:
A PIN code can be used so that other people
cannot see your Email and calendar apps. When
the engine is turned OFF and then ON again, the
PIN code has to be entered.
After the PIN code is entered, regardless of
whether your smartphone is connected to the
vehicle or not, Email and calender apps will be
viewable until the engine is turned OFF. When

WARNING
•Never leave children or adults who would
normally require the support of others alone
in your vehicle. Pets should not be left alone
either. They could unknowingly activate
switches or controls and inadvertently be-
come involved in a serious accident and in-
jure themselves. On hot, sunny days, tem-
peratures in a closed vehicle could quickly
become high enough to cause severe or
possibly fatal illness to people or animals.
•Properly secure all cargo to help prevent it
from sliding or shifting. Do not place cargo
higher than the seatbacks. In a sudden stop
or collision, unsecured cargo could cause
personal injury.
•To avoid raising the center of gravity exces-
sively, do not exceed the rated capacity of
the roof rack (if so equipped) and evenly
distribute the load.
EXHAUST GAS (CARBON MONOXIDE)
WARNING
•Do not breathe exhaust gas; it contains col-
orless and odorless carbon monoxide. Car-
bon monoxide is dangerous. It can cause
unconsciousness or death.
•If you suspect that exhaust fumes are enter-
ing the vehicle, drive with all windows fully
open, and have the vehicle inspected imme-
diately.
•Do not run the engine in closed spaces such
as a garage.
•Do not park the vehicle with the engine run-
ning for an extended period of time.
•Keep the lift gate closed while driving, oth-
erwise exhaust gas could be drawn into the
passenger compartment. If you must drive
with the lift gate open, follow these precau-
tions:– Open all the windows.
– Turn the air recirculation switch off and
set the fan control to the highest level to
circulate the air.
•If electrical wiring or other cable connec-
tions must pass to a trailer through the seal
ion the lift gate or body, follow the manufac- turer’s recommendations to prevent carbon
monoxide entry into the vehicle.
•The exhaust system and body should be
inspected by a qualified mechanic when-
ever:
– You suspect that exhaust fumes are en-
tering into the passenger compartment.
– You notice a change in the sound of the
exhaust system.
– You have had an accident involving dam-
age to the exhaust system, underbody,
or rear of the vehicle.
THREE-WAY CATALYST (IF EQUIPPED)
The three-way catalyst is an emission control
device installed in the exhaust system. Exhaust
gas in the three-way catalyst is burned at high
temperatures to help reduce pollutants.
WARNING
•The exhaust gas and the exhaust system
are very hot. Keep people, animals and
flammable materials away from the exhaust
system components.

•Do not stop or park the vehicle over flam-
mable materials such as dry grass, waste-
paper or rags. They may ignite and cause a
fire.
CAUTION
•Do not use leaded gasoline. (SeeRecom-
mended fluids/lubricants and capacities in
the 9. Maintenance and Schedules sec-
tion.) Deposits from leaded gasoline seri-
ously reduce the ability of the three-way
catalyst to help reduce exhaust pollutants
and/or damage the three-way catalyst.
•Keep your engine tuned up. Malfunctions in
the ignition, fuel injection, or electrical sys-
tems may cause overrich fuel to flow into
the three-way catalyst, causing it to over-
heat. Do not keep driving if the engine mis-
fires, or if noticeable loss of performance or
other unusual operating conditions are de-
tected. Have the vehicle inspected
promptly. It is recommended you visit an
INFINITI retailer for this service.
•Avoid driving with an extremely low fuel
level. Running out of fuel could cause the engine to misfire, damaging the three-way
catalyst.
•Do not race the engine while warming it up.
•Do not push or tow your vehicle to start the
engine.
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM
(TPMS)
Each tire, including the spare (if present),
should be checked monthly when cold and
inflated to the inflation pressure recommended
by the vehicle manufacturer on the vehicle
placard or tire inflation pressure label. (If your
vehicle has tires of a different size than the size
indicated on the vehicle placard or tire inflation
pressure label, you should determine the
proper tire inflation pressure for those tires.)
As an added safety feature, your vehicle has
been equipped with a tire pressure monitoring
system (TPMS) that illuminates a low tire pres-
sure telltale when one or more of your tires is
significantly under-inflated. Accordingly, when
the low tire pressure telltale illuminates, you
should stop and check your tires as soon as
possible, and inflate them to the proper pres-
sure. Driving on a significantly under-inflated
tire causes the tire to overheat and can lead totire failure. Under-inflation also reduces fuel
efficiency and tire tread life, and may affect the
vehicle’s handling and stopping ability.
Please note that the TPMS is not a substitute for
proper tire maintenance, and it is the driver’s
responsibility to maintain correct tire pressure,
even if under-inflation has not reached the level
to trigger illumination of the TPMS low tire
pressure telltale.
Your vehicle has also been equipped with a
TPMS malfunction indicator to indicate when
the system is not operating properly. The TPMS
malfunction indicator is combined with the low
tire pressure telltale. When the system detects
a malfunction, the telltale will flash for approxi-
mately one minute and then remain continu-
ously illuminated. This sequence will continue
upon subsequent vehicle start-ups as long as
the malfunction exists. When the malfunction
indicator is illuminated, the system may not be
able to detect or signal low tire pressure as
intended. TPMS malfunctions may occur for a
variety of reasons, including the installation of
replacement or alternate tires or wheels on the
vehicle that prevent the TPMS from working
properly. Always check the TPMS telltale after
replacing one or more tires or wheels on your
vehicle to ensure that the replacement or alter-
nate tires and wheels allow the TPMS to con-
tinue to function properly.

4. Gradually steer the vehicle to a safe locationoff the road and away from traffic if possible.
5. Lightly apply the brake pedal to gradually stop the vehicle.
6. Turn on the hazard warning flashers and contact a roadside emergency service to
change the tire. For additional information,

DRINKING ALCOHOL/DRUGS AND
DRIVING
WARNING
Never drive under the influence of alcohol or
drugs. Alcohol in the bloodstream reduces co-
ordination, delays reaction time and impairs
judgement. Driving after drinking alcohol in-
creases the likelihood of being involved in an
accident injuring yourself and others. Addi-
tionally, if you are injured in an accident, alco-
hol can increase the severity of the injury.
INFINITI is committed to safe driving. However,
you must choose not to drive under the influ-
ence of alcohol. Every year thousands of people
are injured or killed in alcohol-related acci-
dents. Although the local laws vary on what is
considered to be legally intoxicated, the fact is that alcohol affects all people differently and
most people underestimate the effects of alco-
hol.
Remember, drinking and driving don’t mix! And
that is true for drugs, too (over-the-counter,
prescription, and illegal drugs). Don’t drive if
your ability to operate your vehicle is impaired
by alcohol, drugs, or some other physical con-
dition.
DRIVING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Your INFINITI is designed for both normal and
off-road use. However, avoid driving in deep
water or mud as your INFINITI is mainly de-
signed for leisure use, unlike a conventional
off-road vehicle.
Remember that 2–wheel drive vehicles are less
capable than all-wheel drive (AWD) models for
rough road driving and extrication when stuck
in deep snow or mud, or the like.
Please observe the following precautions:
WARNING
•Spinning the front wheels on slippery sur-
faces may cause the AWD warning message
to display and the AWD system to automati-
cally switch from the AWD to 2WD mode.
This could reduce the traction. Be especially
careful when towing a trailer. (AWD models)
•Drive carefully when off the road and avoid
dangerous areas. Every person who drives
or rides in this vehicle should be seated
with their seat belt fastened. This will keep
you and your passengers in position when
driving over rough terrain.
•Do not drive across steep slopes. Instead
drive either straight up or straight down the
slopes. Off-road vehicles can tip over side-
ways much more easily than they can for-
ward or backward.
•Many hills are too steep for any vehicle. If
you drive up them, you may stall. If you drive
down them, you may not be able to control
your speed. If you drive across them, you
may roll over.
•Do not shift gears while driving on downhill
grades as this could cause loss of control of
the vehicle.
•Stay alert when driving to the top of a hill. At
the top there could be a drop-off or other
hazard that could cause an accident.
•If your engine stalls or you cannot make it to
the top of a steep hill, never attempt to turn
around. Your vehicle could tip or roll over.
