LOCKING AND UNLOCKING
You can use the power door lock controlor the remote control to lock and unlockyour vehicle.
Power Door Locks
The power door lock control is on the driverand front passenger door panels.

Door Lock Indicator
An LED on the door window trimilluminates when you lock the door. Theywill remain illuminated for up to fiveminutes after you switch the ignition off.
Door Lock Switch Inhibitor
When you electronically lock your vehicle,the power door lock switch no longeroperates after 20 seconds. You mustunlock your vehicle with the remote controlor keyless keypad, or switch the ignitionon, to restore function to these switches.You can switch this feature off in theinformation display. See GeneralInformation (page 94).
Note:Switch the ignition on and off afterchanging the setting in the informationdisplay.
Rear Door Unlocking and Opening
Pull the interior door handle twice tounlock and open a rear door. The first pullunlocks the door and the second pullopens the door.
Remote Control
You can use the remote control at anytime. The luggage compartment releasebutton only works when your vehicle speedis about 3 mph (5 km/h).
Unlocking the Doors (Two-StageUnlock)
Press the button to unlock thedriver door.
Press the button again withinthree seconds to unlock all doors. Thedirection indicators will flash.
Press and hold both the lock and unlockbuttons on the remote control for threeseconds to change between driver door orall doors unlock mode. The directionindicators will flash twice to indicate achange to the unlocking mode. Driver doormode only unlocks the driver door whenyou press the unlock button once. All doormode unlocks all doors when you pressthe unlock button once. The unlockingmode applies to the remote control,keyless entry keypad and intelligentaccess. You can also change between theunlocking modes using the informationdisplay. See General Information (page94).
Locking the Doors
Press the button to lock alldoors. The direction indicatorswill flash.

Anti-Scan Feature
The keypad goes into an anti-scan modeif you enter the wrong code seven times.This mode turns off the keypad for oneminute and the keypad lamp flashes.
Anti-scan turns off after any of thefollowing occur:
•One minute of keypad inactivity.
•You press the unlock button on theremote control.
•You switch the ignition on.
•You unlock the vehicle using intelligentaccess.
Locking and Unlocking the Doors
Locking All Doors
Press and hold 7·8 and 9·0 on the keypadsimultaneously with the driver door closed.You do not need to enter a code first.
Unlocking Only the Driver Door
Enter the factory-set or your personalfive-digit code. You must press eachnumber within five seconds of each other.The interior lamps illuminate.
Note:All doors unlock if you switch on theall door unlocking mode. See Locking andUnlocking (page 58).
Unlocking All Doors
Enter the factory-set code or your personalcode, then press 3·4 on the keypad withinfive seconds.
Opening the Luggage Compartment
Enter the factory-set code or your personalcode, then press 3·4 on the keypad withinfive seconds.
Displaying the Factory-Set Code
Note:You need to have two programmedkeys for this procedure.
1. Remove the key blade from thetransmitter.
2. Remove the rubber covering (A) fromthe cup holder. With the buttons facingupward and the unlock button facingthe front of your vehicle, place the firstintelligent access key into the backupslot (B).
3. Press the push button ignition switchonce and wait a few seconds.
4. Press the push button ignition switchagain and remove the key.
5.Insert the second programmed key intothe backup slot, and then press thepush button ignition switch.
The factory-set code appears in theinformation display for a few seconds.
Note:The code may not display until afterany other warning messages first display.

Keep vehicle doors and luggagecompartment locked and keep keysand remote transmitters out of achild’s reach. Unsupervised children couldlock themselves in the trunk and risk injury.Children should be taught not to play invehicles.

4. Wait five seconds and then press thepush button ignition switch again.
5. Remove the intelligent access key.
6. Within 10 seconds, place a secondprogrammed intelligent access key inthe backup slot and press the pushbutton ignition switch.
7. Wait five seconds and then press thepush button ignition switch again.
8. Remove the intelligent access key.
9. Wait five seconds, then place theunprogrammed intelligent access keyin the backup slot and press the pushbutton ignition switch.
Programming is now complete. Check thatthe remote control functions operate andyour vehicle starts with the new intelligentaccess key.
If programming was unsuccessful, wait 10seconds and repeat steps 1 through 7. If itstill does not work, take your vehicle to anauthorized dealer.
ANTI-THEFT ALARM
The system will warn you of anunauthorized entry to your vehicle. It willbe triggered if any door, the luggagecompartment or the hood is openedwithout using the key, remote control orkeyless entry keypad.
The direction indicators will flash and thehorn will sound if unauthorized entry isattempted while the alarm is armed.
Take all remote controls to an authorizeddealer if there is any potential alarmproblem with your vehicle.
Arming the Alarm
The alarm is ready to arm when there isnot a key in your vehicle. Electronically lockyour vehicle to arm the alarm.
Disarming the Alarm
Disarm the alarm by any of the followingactions:
•Unlock the doors or luggagecompartment with the remote controlor keyless entry keypad.
•Switch your vehicle on or start yourvehicle.
•Use a key in the driver door to unlockyour vehicle, then switch your vehicleon within 12 seconds.
Note:Pressing the panic button on theremote control will stop the horn and signalindicators, but will not disarm the system.

FRONT FOG LAMPS (If Equipped)
Press the control to switch the fog lampson or off.
You can switch the fog lamps on when thelighting control is in any position exceptOff and the high beams are not on.
DIRECTION INDICATORS
Push the lever up or down to use thedirection indicators.
Note:Tap the lever up or down to make thedirection indicators flash three times toindicate a lane change.
INTERIOR LAMPS
The lamps will turn on when you have metone of the following conditions:
•You open any door.
•You press a remote control button.
•You press button A on the front interiorlamp.
Front Interior Lamp
Note:The front interior lamp buttons areon the overhead console. The exact locationof each button on the overhead consoledepends upon which roof, sunroof, andwindow shade features are equipped on thevehicle.
Note:Press button B to switch the doorfunction off when you open any door. Theindicator lamp will light amber when thedoor function is off. When the door functionis off and you open a door, the courtesy anddoor lamps will stay off. Press button Bagain to switch the door function back on.The indicator lamp will light blue when thedoor function is on. When the door functionis on and you open a door, the courtesy anddoor lamps will light.

Left Information Display Controls
•Press the up and down arrow buttonsto scroll through and highlight theoptions within a menu.
•Press the right arrow button to enter asub-menu.
•Press the left arrow button to exit amenu.
•Press and hold the left arrow button atany time to return to the main menudisplay (escape button).
•Press the OK button to choose andconfirm settings or messages.

Fuel Economy (Energi only)
This display is only available in HybridMode. In Plug-in Power Mode the displaychanges to Miles (or km)/Full Charge.
An Instant Fuel Economy gauge is providedalong with Avg Fuel Economy. Whileviewing this screen you can reset youraverage fuel economy by pressing andholding the OK button on the left handsteering wheel controls. For moreinformation see Common Displays in thischapter.
Trip 1 & 2
Provides trip odometer, trip average fueleconomy and trip timer.
Distance traveled on battery power onlywith the engine off is shown in blue nextto total trip distance.
For Energi vehicles total plug-in electricityused in kilowatt hours (kWh) is shown inblue next to trip average fuel economy.
Information
In this mode, you can viewdifferent vehicle systeminformation and perform asystem check.

WARNINGS
Install the head restraint properly tohelp minimize the risk of neck injuryin the event of a crash.
Note:Adjust the seatback to an uprightdriving position before adjusting the headrestraint. Adjust the head restraint so thatthe top of it is level with the top of your headand as far forward as possible. Make surethat you remain comfortable. If you areextremely tall, adjust the head restraint toits highest position.
