The tailgate unlocks also by pressing the
button
on the remote control.
To close the tailgate use handle B fig. 64.
Do not tr y to close the tailgate by
pressing on the side shock absorbers C
fig. 64. Also be careful not to knock the
side shock absorbers when you load the boot , to
avoid damaging them.
EMERGENCY OPENING FROM THE INSIDE
In the event of an emergency, you can open the
tailgate from inside as follows:
Open the sliding side door and fully fold the rear
seats;
from inside the boot, press lever A fig. 65 and
open the tailgate.
WARNING
If you are travelling in areas with few
filling stations and you want to
transport fuel in a spare tank, comply with the
law by using only an approved, suitably secured

iTPMS System (indirect Tyre
Pressure Monitoring System)
(for versions/markets, where provided)
The indirect Tyre Pressure Monitoring System iTPMS
can monitor the tyre inflation status through the
wheel speed sensors. The system warns the driver if
one or more tyres are flat by switching on the
warning light on the instrument panel and
a warning message on the display, along with an
acoustic signal.
If one tyre only is flat, the system can indicate its
position: it is in any case recommended to check the
pressure on all four tyres. This indication is displayed
also when turning the engine off and on until the
“Reset” procedure is carried out.
“Reset” procedure
The iTPMS needs an initial "self-learning" phase (with
length depending on the driving style and road
conditions: optimal conditions being driving on a
straight road at 80 km/h for at least 20 minutes)
which starts when the “Reset” procedure is carried
out.
The “Reset” procedure must be carried out:
each time tyre pressure is modified;
when even only one tyre is changed;
when tyres are rotated/inverted;
when the space-saver wheel is fitted. Before
carrying out the “Reset” procedure, inflate the
tyres to the rated pressure values specified in the
inflation pressure table (see "Wheels" paragraph in
the "Technical specifications" chapter).
If the “Reset” procedure is not carried out, in all
above cases, the
warning light may give false
indications on one or more tyres.
To carry out the “Reset” procedure, with the vehicle
stopped and the ignition device at MAR, use the
Setup Menu as follows:
briefly press thebutton: the display will show
"Reset";
press thebutton or thebutton to select
("Yes" or "No");
briefly press thebutton: the display will show
"Confirm";
pressbutton orto select ("Yes" to
“Reset” or "No" to exit the video page);
press thebutton again to return to the standard
screen or to the main menu according to where
you are in the menu.
After the “Reset” the display will show the "Reset
saved" message, indicating that the "self-learning" has
been started.

IRREGULAR OPERATION
In the event of malfunctions the Start&Stop system is
disabled. The driver is informed of the problem by
the switching on of the general failure fig. 97 warning
light A, where provided, an information message
and the system failure fig. 97 icon B on the control
panel.
In this case, contact a Fiat Dealership.
VEHICLE INACTIVITY
In cases of car inactivity, special attention must be
paid due to the disconnection of the battery power
supply. Proceed as follows: disconnect connector
A fig. 98(by pressing button B) from the sensor C for
monitoring the status of the battery installed on
the negative pole D of the battery itself. This sensor
should never be disconnected from the pole except
if the battery is replaced.IMPORTANT After turning the ignition key to STOP,
wait at least 1 minute before disconnecting the
electrical supply to the battery.
WARNING
If the batter y needs to be replaced,
always contact a Fiat Dealership.
Replace the battery with a new one of the
same type and specifications.
EMERGENCY STARTING
In the event of emergency starting fig. 99 with a
booster battery, never connect the negative lead (-)
of the booster battery to the negative pole C of
the vehicle's battery, but rather to an engine/gearbox
earth point (follow the lead connection procedure
described in the "Jump starting" paragraph in the
chapter "In an emergency").

REFUELLING THE VEHICLE
PETROL ENGINES
Use unleaded petrol only, with octane number
(R.O.N.) not lower than 95.
IMPORTANT For the correct operation of the
engine, exclusively use metallic additive free fuels,
that can be recognised by the description “Metallic
Additive Free”. Furthermore, using even small
quantities of fuels with metallic additives, which can
be recognised by the description “Containing
metallic additive”, can irreparably damage the
catalytic converter.
IMPORTANT An inefficient catalytic converter leads
to harmful exhaust emissions, thus contributing to
air pollution.
IMPORTANT Never use leaded petrol, even in small
amounts or in an emergency, as this would damage
the catalytic converter beyond repair.
DIESEL ENGINES
Operation at low temperatures
If the outside temperature is very low, the diesel
thickens due to the formation of paraffin clots with
consequent defective operation of the fuel supply
system.
In order to avoid these problems, different types of
diesel are distributed according to the season:summer type, winter type and arctic type
(cold/mountain areas). If refuelling with diesel fuel
whose specifications are not suitable for the usage
temperature, it is advisable to mix TUTELA DIESEL
ART additive in the proportions shown on the
container with the fuel. Pour the additive into the
tank before the fuel.
When using or parking the vehicle for a long time in
the mountains or cold areas, it is advisable to refuel
using locally available diesel.
In this case, it is also advisable to keep the tank over
50% full.
For diesel engines, use only diesel fuel for
motor vehicles in accordance with EN590
European specifications.The use of other
products or mixtures may damage the engine
beyond repair and consequently invalidate the
warranty, due to the damage caused. If you
accidentally introduce other types of fuel into the
tank, do not start the engine. Empty the tank. If
the engine has been run for even an extremely
limited amount of time, you must not only drain
the fuel tank, but the rest of the supply circuit
as well.

SNOW TYRES
The Fiat Dealership will be happy to provide advice
concerning the most suitable type of tyre for the
customer's requirements.
For the type, pressures and specifications of the
snow tyre to be used, follow carefully the
instructions given in the “Wheels” paragraph of the
“Technical specifications” section.
The winter performance of these tyres is
considerably reduced when the tread thickness is less
than 4 mm. If this is the case, replace them.
Due to the specific characteristics of snow tyres, in
normal weather conditions or on long motorway
journeys, the performance of these tyres is lower
than that of standard tyres. Their usage should
therefore be restricted in accordance with their type
approval.
IMPORTANT When using snow tyres with a
maximum speed index below the one that can be
reached by the vehicle (increased by 5%), place
a notice in the passenger compartment, plainly in
view, which states the maximum speed allowed
by the snow tyres (as per EC Directive).
All four tyres should be the same (brand and profile)
to ensure greater safety when driving and braking
as well as making the car more responsive.
Remember that you should not change the rotation
direction of the tyres.
WARNING
You must not exceed 160 km/h on snow
tyres with a “Q” mark; in any case, make
sure you stick to the rules of the highway code.

CHANGING A BULB
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Before changing a bulb check the contacts for
oxidation;
burnt bulbs must be replaced by others of the
same type and power;
always check the height of the headlight beam
after changing a bulb, for reasons of safety;
when a light is not working, check that the
corresponding fuse is intact before changing the
bulb. For the location of fuses, refer to the
“Changing a fuse” paragraph in this section;
WARNING
Modifications or repairs to the electrical
system that are not carried out
properly or do not take the system's technical
specifications into account can cause
malfunctions leading to the risk of fire.
WARNING
Halogen bulbs contain pressurised gas
which may cause small fragments of
glass to be projected outwards if the bulb is
broken.
Halogen bulbs must be handled holding
the metallic part only.Touching the
transparent part of the bulb with your
fingers may reduce the intensity of the emitted
light and even reduce the lifespan of the bulb.
If you do touch it accidentally, rub the bulb with
an alcohol-soaked cloth and leave to dry.
If possible, we recommend have bulbs
replaced by a Fiat Dealership. Proper
operation and orientation of the external
lights are essential for the safety of the running
vehicle, and to avoid incurring legal sanctions.
IMPORTANT The internal surface of the light may
appear slightly misty: this does not indicate a fault,
and is actually caused by low temperature and the
degree of humidity in the air. Misting will rapidly
disappear when the headlights are switched on. The
presence of drops inside the headlights indicates
infiltration of water. Go to a Fiat Dealership.

IMPORTANT Always top up using engine oil of the
same specifications as that already in the engine.
WARNING
Be very careful working in the engine
compartment when the engine is hot :
you may get burned. Remember that the fan
may start up if the engine is hot : this could
injure you. Scarves, ties and other loose clothing
might be pulled by moving parts.
Used engine oil and replaced oil filters
contain substances which are harmful to
the environment .To change oil and filters,
we advise you to contact a Fiat Dealership.ENGINE COOLANT
The coolant level should be checked when the
engine is cold and should be between the MIN and
MAX lines on the vessel.
If the level is low, pour into the vessel through cap A
fig. 184 a 50% mixture of demineralised water and
PETRONAS LUBRICANTS PARAFLUUP.
The mixture of 50% PARAFLUUPand 50% distilled
water protects against freezing down to
temperatures of -35°C. For particularly harsh climate
conditions, we recommended using a mixture of
60% PARAFLUUPand 40% distilled water.

BRAKE FLUID
Undo the cap A fig. 186 and check that the liquid
contained in the reservoir is at the maximum level.
The fluid level in the reservoir must not exceed
the MAX mark.
Use the brake fluid shown in the "Fluids and
lubricants" table (see "Technical Specifications").
When opening the cap A, make sure that no dirt
gets into the reservoir.
For topping-up, always use a funnel with integrated
filter with mesh equal to or lower than 0.12 mm.
IMPORTANT Brake fluid absorbs moisture. For this
reason, if the vehicle is mainly used in areas with a
high degree of atmospheric humidity, the fluid should
be replaced at more frequent intervals than specified
in the “Scheduled Servicing Plan”.Prevent brake fluid, which is highly
corrosive, from coming into contact with
painted parts. Should it happen,
immediately wash with water.
WARNING
Brake fluid is poisonous and highly
corrosive. In the event of accidental
contact , immediately wash the affected parts
with water and mild soap. Then rinse
thoroughly. Call a doctor immediately if
swallowed.
WARNING
The symbol, on the brake fluid
container indicates if a brake fluid is
synthetic or mineralbased. Use of mineral type
fluids will damage the special rubber seals of
the braking system beyond repair.
