LEFT-HAND DIRECTION
INDICATOR (green - intermittent)
The light (arrow) comes on when the direction
indicator control lever is moved downwards
or, together with the right-hand arrow, when the
hazard warning light button is pressed.
RIGHT-HAND DIRECTION
INDICATOR (green - intermittent)
The light (arrow) comes on when the direction
indicator control lever is moved upwards or,
together with the left-hand arrow, when the hazard
warning light button is pressed.
MAIN BEAMS (blue)
The warning light switches on when the main beams
are activated.
GEAR SHIFT INDICATION
(for versions/markets, where provided)
On vehicles with a manual gearbox, the gear shift
indicator suggests gear changes to the driver (SHIFT
UP or SHIFT DOWN) via a special display on the
control panel. This suggestion to change gear is
designed to improve consumption and ensure the
best driving style.
NoteThe indication in the instrument panel remains
on until the driver makes a gear change or until the
driving conditions return to a situation where a
gear change is not required to improve consumption

IN AN EMERGENCY
In an emergency, we recommend that you call the freephone number found in the Warranty
Booklet.You can also go to the www.fiat.com website to find your nearest Fiat Dealership.
STARTING THE ENGINE
Go to a Fiat Dealership immediately if warning light
comes on steady on the instrument panel.
JUMP STARTING
If the battery is flat, the engine may be started using
an auxiliary battery with capacity either the same
or a little higher than the flat one.
Proceed as follows to start the car fig. 126:
connect positive terminals (+ near the terminal) of
the two batteries with a jump lead;
with a second lead, connect the negative terminal
(-) of the auxiliary battery to an earthing point
on the engine or the gearbox of the vehicle to
be started;
start the engine;
when the engine has been started, remove the
leads reversing the order above.
If after a few attempts the engine does not start, do
not keep trying but contact a Fiat Dealership.IMPORTANT Do not directly connect the negative
terminals of the two batteries: sparks could ignite
explosive gas released from the battery. If the
auxiliary battery is installed on another vehicle,
prevent accidental contact between metallic parts of
the two vehicles.
Strictly avoid using a rapid battery
charger for jump starting: this could
damage the system electronics and the
ignition and engine supply control units.

WARNING
If a fuse blows again, contact a Fiat
Dealership.
Never replace a blown fuse with metallic
wires or other material.
WARNING
Never replace a fuse with another
having higher amperage; FIRE HAZARD.
WARNING
If a general protection fuse (MEGA-
FUSE, MIDI-FUSE) is activated, contact
a Fiat Dealership.
WARNING
Remove the key from the ignition and
switch off or disable all devices before
replacing a fuse.
WARNING
Contact Fiat Dealership if a safety
system (air bags, brakes), engine system
(engine, gearbox) or steering system general
protection fuse blows.
To identify the protective fuse, see the tables on the
following pages.
ENGINE BAY FUSE BOX
The fuse box is on the right-hand side of the engine.
Removing the fuse box cover
Proceed as follows:
remove protective lid A fig. 169 from the positive
battery terminal by lifting it upwards;

(2) The actual interval for changing the engine oil and replacing the engine oil filter depends on the vehicle usage conditions and is
signalled by the warning light or message (if present) in the instrument panel (see chapter "Warning lights and messages"). In any
case, it must never exceed 24 months. Change engine oil and filter every 12 months if the vehicle is driven mainly in towns.
(3) Areas that are not dusty: recommended maximum mileage 120,000 km. The belt must be replaced every 6 years, regardless of
distance travelled. Dusty areas and/or demanding use of the car (cold climates, town use, long periods of idling): advised maximum
mileage 60,000 km. The belt must be replaced every 4 years, regardless of distance travelled.
(4) If the vehicle runs on fuel with quality below the relevant European specification, this filter must be replaced every 35,000 km
(5) The brake fluid replacement has to be done every two years, irrespective of the mileage.

REGULAR CHECKS
Every 1,000 km or before long journeys, check and, if
necessary, top up the following:
engine coolant level;
brake fluid level;
windscreen washer fluid level;
tyre inflation pressure and condition;
operation of lighting system (headlamps, direction
indicators, hazard warning lights, etc.);
operation of screen wash/wipe system and
positioning/wear of windscreen/rear window
wiper blades.
Check and top up, if required, the engine oil level
every 3,000 km.
HEAVY USAGE OF THE VEHICLE
If the vehicle is used mainly under one of the
following conditions:
towing a trailer or caravan;
dusty roads;
short, repeated journeys (less than 7-8 km) at
sub-zero outside temperatures;
engine often idling or driving long distances at low
speeds or long periods of inactivity;
the following checks must be carried out more often
than indicated in the Scheduled Servicing Plan:
check front disc brake pad condition and wear;
check cleanliness of bonnet and boot locks,
cleanliness and lubrication of linkage;
visually inspect the conditions of: engine, gearbox,
transmission, pipes and hoses (exhaust/fuel
supply/brakes), rubber parts (boots/sleeves/
bushes, etc.);
check battery charge and battery fluid level
(electrolyte);
visually inspect condition of the auxiliary drive
belts;
check and, if necessary, change engine oil and
replace oil filter;
check and, if necessary, replace pollen filter;
check and, if necessary, replace air filter.
