WARNING
If, after an impact , you smell fuel or
notice leaks from the fuel system, do not
reactivate the system to avoid the risk of fire.
PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT
The devices for reducing petrol engine emissions are
the following:
three-way catalytic converter
Lambda sensors
anti-evaporation system.
In addition, do not let the engine run, even for a test,
with one or more spark plugs disconnected.
The following devices are used for reducing diesel
fuel engine emissions:
oxidising catalytic converter
exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR)
diesel particulate filter (DPF) (for versions/
markets, where provided).
DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER (DPF)
(for versions/markets, where provided)
The Diesel Particulate Filter is a mechanical filter,
integral to the exhaust system, that physically traps
carbon particulates present in the exhaust gases
of diesel engines.
It is needed to eliminate almost all particulates in
compliance with current/future legislation. During
normal use of the vehicle, the engine control unit
records a set of data (e.g.: travel time, type of route,
temperatures, etc.) and it will then calculate how
much particulate has been trapped by the filter.

GLOW PLUG PREHEATING/GLOW
PLUG FAULT (Multijet versions -
amber)
Glow plugs preheating
This warning light comes on when the key is turned
to MAR. It will go out as soon as the glow plugs have
reached a preset temperature.
Start the engine as soon as the warning light goes
out.
IMPORTANT When it is particularly warm outside,
the warning light stays on for an extremely short
time.
Glow plug preheating fault
The warning light flashes if there is a fault in the
preheating system. Go to a Fiat Dealership as soon
as possible.
A specific message is displayed on certain versions.
WATER IN DIESEL FUEL FILTER
(Multijet versions - amber)
When the ignition key is turned to MAR, the warning
light turns on but should go off after a few seconds.
The warning light
turns on when there is water in
the diesel fuel filter.
A specific message is displayed on certain versions.
The presence of water in the fuel supply
circuit may cause severe damage to the
injection system and irregular engine
operation. If warning light
lights up (on some
versions with the message on the display), go to a
Fiat Dealership as soon as possible to have the
system bled.Water may have entered the tank if
this appears immediately after refuelling: if this
happens, switch the engine off immediately
and contact a Fiat Dealership.

(2) The actual interval for changing the engine oil and replacing the engine oil filter depends on the vehicle usage conditions and is
signalled by the warning light or message (if present) in the instrument panel (see chapter "Warning lights and messages"). In any
case, it must never exceed 24 months. Change engine oil and filter every 12 months if the vehicle is driven mainly in towns.
(3) Areas that are not dusty: recommended maximum mileage 120,000 km. The belt must be replaced every 6 years, regardless of
distance travelled. Dusty areas and/or demanding use of the car (cold climates, town use, long periods of idling): advised maximum
mileage 60,000 km. The belt must be replaced every 4 years, regardless of distance travelled.
(4) If the vehicle runs on fuel with quality below the relevant European specification, this filter must be replaced every 35,000 km
(5) The brake fluid replacement has to be done every two years, irrespective of the mileage.

REGULAR CHECKS
Every 1,000 km or before long journeys, check and, if
necessary, top up the following:
engine coolant level;
brake fluid level;
windscreen washer fluid level;
tyre inflation pressure and condition;
operation of lighting system (headlamps, direction
indicators, hazard warning lights, etc.);
operation of screen wash/wipe system and
positioning/wear of windscreen/rear window
wiper blades.
Check and top up, if required, the engine oil level
every 3,000 km.
HEAVY USAGE OF THE VEHICLE
If the vehicle is used mainly under one of the
following conditions:
towing a trailer or caravan;
dusty roads;
short, repeated journeys (less than 7-8 km) at
sub-zero outside temperatures;
engine often idling or driving long distances at low
speeds or long periods of inactivity;
the following checks must be carried out more often
than indicated in the Scheduled Servicing Plan:
check front disc brake pad condition and wear;
check cleanliness of bonnet and boot locks,
cleanliness and lubrication of linkage;
visually inspect the conditions of: engine, gearbox,
transmission, pipes and hoses (exhaust/fuel
supply/brakes), rubber parts (boots/sleeves/
bushes, etc.);
check battery charge and battery fluid level
(electrolyte);
visually inspect condition of the auxiliary drive
belts;
check and, if necessary, change engine oil and
replace oil filter;
check and, if necessary, replace pollen filter;
check and, if necessary, replace air filter.
