on fuel consumption. It is better to use a trailer to
transport particularly bulky objects.
Electric devices
Only use electrical devices for the amount of time
needed. The heated rear window, additional
headlights, windscreen/rear window wipers and
heater fan need a considerable amount of energy,
therefore increasing fuel consumption (by up to 25%
in the urban cycle).
Climate control system
The air conditioner leads to higher fuel consumption
(on average up to +20%). If the temperature outside
is not too extreme, try and use the air vents.
Spoilers
The use of non-certified spoilers may adversely affect
aerodynamics and fuel consumption.
DRIVING STYLE
The main driving styles that affect fuel consumption
are listed below.
Starting
Do not warm up the engine at low or high revs when
the vehicle is stationary; this causes the engine to
warm up more slowly, thereby increasing fuel
consumption and emissions. It is advisable to set off
immediately and slowly, avoiding high revs: this allows
the engine to warm up more quickly.Unnecessary actions
Avoid revving up when stationary at traffic lights or
before stopping the engine. The latter action, like
double declutching, is unnecessary and increases
consumption and pollution.
Gear selection
Use a higher gear as soon as traffic and road
conditions allow. Using a low gear for faster
acceleration will increase fuel consumption.
In the same way, improper use of a high gear
increases fuel consumption, emissions and engine
wear.
Top speed
Fuel consumption increases considerably with speed.
Maintain a constant speed, avoiding unnecessary
braking and acceleration, which cost in terms of both
fuel consumption and emissions.
Acceleration
Sudden acceleration has a very negative effect on fuel
consumption and emissions: accelerate gradually.
CONDITIONS OF USE
The main conditions of use which negatively affect
consumption are illustrated below.

IMPORTANT The internal surface of the light may
appear slightly misty: this does not indicate a fault,
and is actually caused by low temperature and the
degree of humidity in the air. Misting will rapidly
disappear when the headlights are switched on. The
presence of drops inside the headlights indicates
infiltration of water. Go to a Fiat Dealership.

CHANGING AN EXTERIOR BULB
For the type of bulb and corresponding power rating,
see the paragraph "Changing a bulb".
FRONT LIGHT CLUSTERS
The front light clusters fig. 156 contain sidelight,
dipped beam, main beam and direction indicator
bulbs.
The bulbs are arranged inside the light cluster as
follows:
A Side lights/tail lights and main/dipped beam
headlights;
B Direction indicators.
SIDE LIGHTS - TAIL LIGHTS
To change the bulb, proceed as follows:
remove the protective lid A fig. 156;
turn the bulb holder A fig. 157 anticlockwise and
remove it;
remove the bulb B and replace it;
refit the new bulb, insert the bulb holder A
fig. 157 again and then refit the protective lid A
fig. 156 correctly.
DIPPED/MAIN BEAM HEADLIGHTS
To change the bulb (double filament), proceed as
follows:
remove the protective lid A fig. 156;
release the bulb holder clip;
remove the bulb A fig. 158 from connector B and
replace it;
refit the new bulb by inserting it on connector B
and then make the contour of the metallic part
mate with the grooves obtained on the headlight
parabola;

Front headlights
IMPORTANT Never use aromatic substances (e.g.
petrol) or ketenes (e.g. acetone) for cleaning the
plastic lenses of the front headlights.INTERIORS
Check regularly that water is not trapped under the
mats (from dripping off shoes, umbrellas, etc.) which
could cause the metal to rust.
WARNING
Never use flammable products, such as
petroleum ether or modified petrol,
to clean the inside of the vehicle.The
electrostatic charges which are generated by
rubbing during the cleaning operation may
cause a fire.
WARNING
Do not keep aerosol cans in the vehicle:
these could explode. Aerosol cans must
not be exposed to temperatures of more than
50°C .When the vehicle is exposed to sunlight ,
the temperature inside can greatly exceed
this value.
