2. Place the guide over the belt, and insert the two edges of thebelt into the slots of the guide.
3. Be sure that the belt is nottwisted and it lies flat. Theelastic cord must be behind thebelt with the plastic guide onthe front.
{Warning
Asafetybeltthatisnotproperly
worn may not provide the
protection needed in a crash. The
person wearing the belt could be
seriously injured. The shoulder
belt should go over the shoulder
and across the chest. These parts
of the body are best able to take
belt restraining forces.
4. Buckle, position, and releasethe safety belt as describedpreviously in this section. Makesure the shoulder portion of thebelt is on the shoulder and notfalling off of it. The belt shouldbe close to, but not contacting, the neck.
To r e m o v e a n d s t o r e t h e c o m f o r tguide, squeeze the belt edgestogether so that the safety belt canbe removed from the guide. Slidethe guide into its storage pocket onthe side of the seatback.

7. If the vehicle does not have arear seat and the child restraintmanufacturer recommendsusing a top tether anchor, attach the top tether to the toptether anchor. Refer to theinstructions that came with thechild restraint and toLowerAnchors and Tethers forChildren (LATCH System)073.
8. Before placing a child in thechild restraint, make sure it issecurely held in place. Tocheck, grasp the child restraintat the safety belt path andattempt to move it side to sideand back and forth. When thechild restraint is properlyinstalled, there should be nomore than 2.5 cm (1 in) ofmovement.
To r e m o v e t h e c h i l d r e s t r a i n t ,unbuckle the vehicle safety belt andlet it return to the stowed position.If the top tether is attached to a toptether anchor, disconnect it.
If you turned the airbag off with theswitch, turn on the front outboardpassenger airbag when you remove
the child restraint from the vehicleunless the person who will be sittingthere is a member of a passengerairbag risk group. SeeAirbagOn-Off Switch062for moreinformation, including importantsafety information.

Entry/Exit Lighting
The vehicle has an illuminatedentry/exit feature.
The dome lamps come on if theE
DOME OFF button is in theextended position, when a door isopened, or the key is removed fromthe ignition.
Battery Load
Management
The vehicle may have ElectricPower Management (EPM) thatestimates the battery's temperatureand state of charge. It then adjuststhe voltage for best performanceand extended life of the battery.
When the battery's state of chargeis low, the voltage is raised slightlyto quickly bring the charge back up.When the state of charge is high, the voltage is lowered slightly toprevent overcharging. If the vehiclehas a voltmeter gauge or a voltagedisplay on the Driver Information
Center (DIC), you may see thevoltage move up or down. This isnormal. If there is a problem, analert will be displayed.
The battery can be discharged atidle if the electrical loads are veryhigh. This is true for all vehicles. This is because the generator(alternator) may not be spinning fastenough at idle to produce all thepower that is needed for very highelectrical loads.
Ahighelectricalloadoccurswhenseveral of the following are on, suchas: headlamps, high beams, foglamps, rear window defogger, climate control fan at high speed, heated seats, engine cooling fans, trailer loads, and loads plugged intoaccessory power outlets.
EPM works to prevent excessivedischarge of the battery. It does thisby balancing the generator's outputand the vehicle's electrical needs. It can increase engine idle speed togenerate more power, wheneverneeded. It can temporarily reducethe power demands of someaccessories.
