The efficiency program can help you to use less
fuel. It shows other consumers that are using
fuel and economy tips give advice on how to drive
efficiently. The efficiency program receives dis­
tance and consumption data from the on-board
computer.
To disp lay the efficiency program, open the
Vehi­
cle functions
menu and select the Efficiency pro­
gram
menu item.
Other consumers
The Energy consumers view lists other equip­
ment that is currently affecting fuel consump ­
tion. The display shows up to three other equip­
ment items

most power is listed first. If more than three
items using power are sw itched on, the eq uip­
ment that is currently using the most power is
displayed.
A gauge @also shows the current total con­
sumpt ion of all o ther consumers.

Economy tips
In certain situations, economy tips appear auto­
matically for a short time in the efficiency pro ­
gram ¢
fig. 10. If you follow these economy tips,
you can reduce your vehicle's fuel consumption.
To turn an economy tip off immediately after it
appears, press any button on the multifunction
steering wheel.
(D Tips
- If you erase the data in the efficien cy pro­
gram, the va lues in the on -board computer
w ill also be reset.
- Once you have turned an economy tip off, it
w ill only appear again after you turn the ig­
nition on again.
- Th e economy tips are not displayed in every
instance, but rather in interva ls over a peri­
od of time .
Radio

a f ile.
.. Pausing /continuing playback : Press the right
thumbwheel. To resume playback, press the
right thumbwheel again.
.. Restarting playback of an audio file : select the
file that is currently playing, if necessary. Press
the left thumbwheel.
The following functions are available when you

- Selecting a source: select and confirm a source
such as the
Jukebox .
- Selecting a radio station using the source list:

select a station from the station list.

Directory contacts: the driver information sys­
tem only disp lays directory contacts that have a
phone number stored.
If several phone numbers
are stored with a contact, the list of stored num­
bers is displayed first when the entry is selected .

Caller information : the name, phone number or
Unknown appears in the driver information sys­
tem display depending on if the caller has been
stored in the directory and if the phone number
has been transm itted.
- Accepting a call : press the left thumbwheel
when there is an incoming call.
-Ignoring a call : select and confirm Ignore
when there is an incoming call.
-Ending a phone call : select and confirm End
call.

• Electrical system: malfunction! Battery i s
not being charged
There is a malfunction in the alternator or the ve­
hicle electrical system .
Drive to an authori zed Aud i dealer or authorized
Audi Service Facility immediately. Because the ve ­
hicle battery is discharg ing , turn off all unneces­
sary e lectr ica l equipment such as the radio. See
your author ized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Service Facility if the battery charge level is too
l ow .
(•) Low battery charge: Battery will be charged
while driving
T he start ing ability may be impaired .
If th is message turns off after a litt le while, the
vehicle battery charged enough wh ile driving.
If the message does not turn off, have an author ­
ized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service Facili­
ty repair the malfunction.
~ Engine
• Engine stopped: No power steering and
brake support.
There is a malfunction in the engine or in the fuel
supp ly system .
More force is needed to steer and brake the mov ­
ing vehicle when the engine is stopped . If the ve­
hicle is rolling, try to bring it to a stop off to the
side from moving traffic. See an authorized Audi
dealer or authorized Aud i Serv ice Facility for as­
sistance .
_& WARNING
-
If the eng ine stops while dr iving, you will
need to use more force to brake the vehicle.
Thi s increases the risk of an accident. There
will still be power steering if the ignition is
switched on while th e vehicle is rolling and
there is sufficient battery charge. Otherwise,
you must use greater force when steering .

dicator light turns off.

The oil pressure warning is not an oil leve l in­
dicator. Always check the oil level regularly .

leaving the vehicle, even for a short period of
time . This applies particularly when children
remain in the vehicle. Otherwise the children
could start the engine or operate electrical
equipment such as power windows .

from transmitters in the vicinity of the vehi­

Sea ts and stor age
- Wit h some power supply units, such as for
l aptops, switching them on disables the in ­
tegrated overcurrent shutdown . In this
case, disconnect the powe r supply unit from
the electrical equipment and reconnect af­
ter approximately 10 seconds.
@ Tips
- Devices that are not shie lded or dev ices near
the rear w indow antenna can cause mal­
functions in the radio, TV area or in the vehi ­
cle elect rical system.
- The functions on some devices may be limit­
ed d ue to the low powe r output (wattage) .
