Tires and vehicle load limits
There are limits to the amount of
~ load or weight that any vehicle that is
overloaded will not handle
well and is more difficult to stop .
Overloading can not only lead to
loss of vehicle control, but can al­
so damage important parts of the
vehicle and can lead to sudden
tire failure, including a blowout
and sudden deflation that can
cause the vehicle to crash.

available amount of cargo and
luggage load capacity. For ex­

will be transferred to your ve­
hicle. Consult this manual to

Check w ith an authori zed Audi dealer or author­
ized Audi Service Fac ility to see if you may use
snow chains .
You must remove the snow chains on roads with­
out snow. Otherw ise, you could impair dr iving
ab ility and damage the tires.

Using incorrect snow chains o r insta lling snow
chains incorrectly can result in loss of vehicle
cont rol, which inc reases the risk of an acc i­
dent.

s ion, because the vehicle heigh t will be very
l ow . If you drive with snow chains anyway,
the wheel ho usings and other vehicle com­
ponents can be severely damaged.

T he low aspect rat io of t hese tires is indicated by
a nu meral o f
55 or less in the tire's si ze des igna­
tion . The n umera l represents the ratio of the
tire's sidewa ll height in relation to its tread width
expressed in percentage . Conve ntiona l tires have
a height/width ratio of 60 or more .
The performance of low-aspect- ratio tires is par­
ti cula rly sen siti ve to imprope r inflation p res­
sure. It is the refore important that low aspect
rat io tires are inflated to the specified pressure
and that the inflation pressure is regularly
checked and maintained . Tire pressures should
be checked at lea st once a month and always
before a long trip

What you can do to avo id tire and rim
damage
Low aspect ratio tires can be damaged more eas i­
ly by impact w ith potho les, curbs, gullies or
ridges on the road, particularly if the tire is un­
der inflated .
In order to m in imize the occurrence of impact
damage to t he tires of yo ur vehicle , we recom­
me nd tha t you observe the following preca u­
tio ns:
- Always maintain recommended inflat ion pres­
sures. Check you r ti re pressu re every 2,000
m iles (3,000 km) a nd add air if necessary.
- Dr ive carefully on roads w it h potholes, deep
gullies o r ridges. The impact from dr iving
t hrough or over such obst acles can damage
your tires. Impac t with a cur b may also ca use
damage to your tires.
- After a ny impac t, im med iate ly inspect yo ur
t ires or have them inspe cted by the neares t au­
t horized A udi dealer. Replace a damaged tire as
soon as possible.
- I nspect your tires every 2,000 m iles (3,000 km)
for damage and wear. Damage is not a lways
easy to see. Damage can lead to loss of air and
underinflation, wh ich could event ually cause
tire fa ilure . If you believe that a tire may have
been damaged, replace the tire as soon as pos­
sible .
- These tires may wear more quickly than others . .,.

- Please a lso remember that, wh ile these tires
deliver responsive handling, they may ride less
comfortably and ma ke more noise than other
cho ices.
Reduc ed performance in winter /cold s eason
condit ions
All tires are designed for certain purposes. The
low aspect ratio, ultra high performance t ires
or iginally i nstalled on your vehicle are intended
for maximum dry and wet road performance and
handling . They are not s uitable for cold, snowy or
icy weathe r cond itions.
If you drive under those
circumstances, you s hou ld equ ip your ve hicle
with a ll-season or win ter tires, wh ic h offe r bette r
traction under those con dit ions . We suggest you
use the recommended snow or all -season tires
specified fo r your vehicle, or their equivalent.

Tread wea r
The tread wear grade is a comparat ive ra ting
based on the wear rate of the tire when tested
under contro lled conditions on a specified gov­
ernment test course.

Traction
The traction grades, from hig hest to lowest, a re
AA, A, B and
C. Those grades rep resent the tire's
ability to stop o n wet p avement as measure d un­
der controlled conditions on specified govern ­
ment test s urfaces of asphalt an d concrete. A tire
marked C may have poor traction performance

Temperature
The temperature grades are A ( the highest), B,
and C, representing the tire 's resistance to the
generatio n of heat and its ability to dissipate
heat when tested under contro lled conditions on
a specified indoor laboratory test wheel.
Sustained high temperature can cause the mate­
rial of the tire to degenerate and reduce tire life,
and excessive temperature can lead to s udden
tire failure¢ &.
The grade C cor responds to a level of perform ­
ance which all passenger car tires must meet un­
der the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard

Tire Pressure Monitoring
System (AS, S8)

Each t ire, including the spare (if provided),
should be checked monthly when cold and inflat­
ed to the inflation pressure recommended by the
veh icle manufact urer on the vehicle placard or
tire inflation pressure label. (If your vehicle has
tires of a different size than the size indicated on
the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure la­
be l, you should determine the proper tire infla­
tion pressure for those tires).
As an added safety feature, your veh icle has been
equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system
(TPMS) that illuminates a low tire pressure te ll­
tale when one or more of your tires is significant­
ly under-inflated . Accordingly, when the low tire
pressure telltale illuminates, you should stop and
check your tires as soon as possible, and inflate
them to the proper pressure . Driving on a signifi ­
cantly under-inflated tire causes the tire to over­
heat and can lead to tire failure. Under-inflation
also reduces fuel efficiency and tire tread life,
and may affect the vehicle's handling and stop­
ping ability .
Please note that the TPMS is not a substitute for
p roper tire maintenance, and it is the driver's re­
sponsib ility to ma intain correc t tire p ressure,
even if under-inflation has not reached the level
to trigger illumination of the TPMS low tire pres­
sure telltale.
Your veh icle has also bee n eq uipp ed w ith a TPM S
mal function indicator to indicate when the sys­
tem is not operat ing properly. The TPMS mal­
function indicator is combined with the low tire
pressure telltale. When the system detects a
malfunction, the telltale will flash for approxi­
mately one mi nute and then remain cont inuously
illuminated . This sequence will continue upon

subsequent vehicle start-ups as long as the mal ­
function exists .
When the malfunction indicator is illuminated ,
the sys tem may not be able to detect or signal
low tire pressure as intended . TPMS malfunctions
may occur for a variety of reasons, including the
i nsta llation of replacement or alternate tires or
whee ls on the vehicle that prevent the TPMS
from functioning properly. Always check the
TPMS malfunction telltale after replac ing one or
more tires or wheels on your vehicle to ensure
that the replacement or a lternate tires and
whee ls allow the TPMS to continue to function
properly.
If the Tire Pressure Monitoring System
indicator appears

The tire pressure indicator in the instrument
cluster informs you if the tire pressure is too low
or if there is a system malfunction.

Using the ABS sensors, the tire pressure monitor­
ing system compares the tire tread c ircumfer­
ence and vibration characteristics of the individu­
al tires.
If the press ure changes in one or more
tires, this is indicated in the instrument cluster
display with an indicator light
[I] and a message.
If only one tire is affected, the location of that
tire will be indicated.
T he tire press ures must be stored in the Infotain­
ment system again each time the pressures
change (switching between partial and full load
pressure) or after changing or replacing a tire on
your vehicle

A WARNING
- If the tire pressure indicator appears in the
display, reduce your speed immediately and
avoid any hard steer ing or braking maneu­
vers . Stop as soon as possible and check the
t ir es and their pressure .
- The driver is responsible for maintaining the
correct tire pressure. You must check the
t ire pressure regularly.
- Under certain conditions (such as a sporty
dr iv ing style, winter cond itions or unpaved
roads), the tire pressure monitoring system
indicator may be delayed.
- Do not use run-flat tires on your vehicle. Us­
ing them when not permitted can lead to
vehicle damage or accidents .
