I n certain s ituations, economy tips appear auto
matica lly for a sho rt time in the efficiency pro
gram

you can reduce your v ehicle's fuel consumption.
To t urn an economy tip off immed iate ly after it
appears, press any button on the multifunction
steering wheel.

- If you e rase the data in the efficiency pro
gram, the values in the on-board computer
will a lso be reset.
- Once you have turned an economy tip off , it
will only appear again after you turn the ig
nition on again.
- The economy t ips are not displayed in every
instance, but rather in intervals over a peri
od of t ime .
Odometer

ment (kilometers/miles) can be changed in the
I nfotainment system.
Trip odometer and odometer The trip odometer shows the distance driven
since it was last reset. It can be used to measure
short distances .
The trip odometer can be reset to zero by press i n g the ~ reset button .
The odometer shows the total distance that the
vehicle has been driven .

Malfunction indicator
If there is a malfunction in the instrument clus
ter ,
DEF will appear in the trip odometer display.
Have the malfunction corrected as soon as possi
ble .
Time/date display
The date, time of day and time and date format
can be set in the Infotainment system. Refer to
the Infotainment system operating manual for
instruct ions.
When you open the driver's door, the date and
time appear in the instrument cluster display for 30 seconds.
Head-up display

Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)
The Ma lfunction I ndicator Lamp (M IL) ¢• in the
inst rument cluste r is pa rt of the On-Board D iag
nostic (OBD
II) system .
T he w arnin g/i ndic ator lig ht ill uminates w hen the
ignition is sw itche d on an d goes out after the en
gine starts and the idle has stab ilized. This indi
cates that the MIL is wor king p roperly.
If the light does not go out a fter the eng ine is
started, or illum inates w hile you are drivin g, a
malfu nction may ex ist in t he engine system . If
t h e lig ht ill uminates, the catalytic converter
cou ld be damaged.

clear shortly after switching them on. This

the high beams and the headlight flasher.

A WARNING
High beams can cause glare for other drivers,
which increases the risk of an accident . For
this reason, only use the high beams or the
headlight flasher when they will not create
glare for other drivers .
High beam assistant
Applies to : vehicles wi th high beam assis tan t
A camera on the rearview mirror mount can de
tect light sources from other road use rs . The high
beams switch on or off automatically depending
on the position of vehicles driving ahead and on
coming vehicles, the veh icle speed and other en
vironmental and traffic cond it ions.
Activating high beam assistant

Headlight as sist: Unavailable No camera view
The camera view is blocked, for example by a
sticker or debris.
The senso r is located between the interior rear
view mirror and the windshield. Do not place any stickers in th is area on the windshield.
A WARNING
H igh beam assistant is only i ntended to assist
the driver . The dr iver is still responsible for
cont ro ll in g the head ligh ts a nd switc hing
t hem manually depend ing on light and v isibil
i t y condition s. It may be necessary to operate
th em m anually i n situ ations such as:
- In adve rse weathe r cond it ions s uch as fog,
he avy ra in, b low ing snow or sp raying wa te r.
- On roads w here oncoming traffi c may be
pa rtiall y obscu red, s uch as ex pressways.
- Whe n there are road users t hat do not have
s ufficient ligh ting, s uc h as bicycle rs o r
vehicles wi th dirty ta il lamps.
- In tight cu rv es and o n steep hills.
- In poorly lit areas .
- With strong reflectors , such as signs.
- If the area of the windshield near the senso r
is fogged over, dirty, icy or covered with a
sticker.

Use the controls to adjust the temperature, the
blower speed and the air distribution. The LED in
a button will light up when the function is
sw itched on . The front settings are shown in the
climate control system display and in the Info

driver and front passenger settings can be ad
justed separately.

The I O FF I button switches the climate control
system on or off. It also switches on whe n you
p ress the cont rol. Airflow from outside is b locked
when the climate control system is switched off .
The
IO FF I button in the rear only switches the A/C
system on/off in the rear of the vehicle.
IA/C l Switching cooling mode on /off
The air is not cooled and humidity is not removed
when cooling mode is switched off . T his can
cause fog on the windows. The cooling mode
switches off automatically when there are cold
outside temperatures.
l """ I Switch ing recirculation mode on /off
In recircu lation mode, the a ir inside the vehicle is
circu lated and fi ltered. This prevents the unfil
tered a ir outside the vehicle from entering the
vehicle inter ior. We recommend switching recir
culation mode on when driving through a tunne l
or when sitting in traffic~.&. .

Automatic mode maintains a constant tempera
ture inside the vehi cle. Air temperature , a ir flow

Adjusting the temperatu re
Temperatures between 60 °F (+ 16 °() and 84 °F
(+28 °() can be set . Outside of this range, LO or
HI w ill appear in the climate control system dis
play. In both settings, the climate control runs
constantly at the max imum coo ling or heat ing
l evel. The temperature is not regu lated .
Adjusting the blower~
You can adjust the volume of air generated by the
blower to your preference . The blower should al
ways run at a low setting to prevent the windows
from fogg ing and to ensure a cont inuo us ex
change of air inside the vehicle . To have the blow
er regulated automatically, p ress the

ton.
~ Adjusting air distribution
You can man ua lly select the vents where the air
will flow. To have the air distr ibut ion regulated
a utomat ica lly, press the
IAU TO I button.
~ Adjusting seat heat ing* /seat ventilation*
Pressing the button switches the seat heating/
seat ventilation on at the h ighest setting (level
3). The LEDs ind icate the temperature level. To
reduce the temperat ure, press the b utton again.
To switc h the seat heat ing/seat ventila tion off,
press the button repeatedly until the LED turns
off.
After
1 0 m inutes, the seat heating automatically
switches from level 3 to level 2.

The w indshield and side windows are defrosted
o r cleared of condensat ion as quick ly as poss ible.
The maxim um amount of ai r flows mainly from
