Parking systems
General information
Applies to: vehicles with parking system plus/rearview cam­
era/peripheral camera
Depending on your vehicle's equipment , various
parking aids will help you when parking and ma­
neuvering.
The
parking system plus assists you when park­
ing by audibly and visually indicating objects de­
tected
in front of and behind the vehicle
¢page 109.
The
rearview camera shows the area behind the
vehicle in the Infotainment system display. This
display assists you when you are cross or parallel parking
¢ page 110. The parking system plus
functions are also available
¢ page 109.
The
peripheral cameras assist you with parking
and maneuvering. You are aided by various cam­
eras depending on the vehicle equipment level
¢ page 113. The parking system plus functions
are also available
¢ page 109.
A WARNING
-Always look for traffic and check the area
around your vehicle by looking at it directly
as well. The parking system cannot replace
the driver's attention. The driver is always responsible when entering or leaving a park­
ing space and during similar maneuvers.
- Please note that some surfaces, such as
clothing, are not detected by the system .
-
-Sensors and cameras have blind spots in
which people and objects cannot be detect­ ed . Be especially cautious of small children
and animals.
- The sensors can be displaced by impacts or
damage to the radiator grille, bumper,
wheel housing and the underbody . The park­
ing system may be impaired as a result.
Have an authorized Audi dealer or author­
ized Audi Service Facility check their func­
tion .
- Make sure the sensors are not obstructed by stickers, deposits or other materials. If they
are, the sensor function could be impaired.

-Some objects are not detected or displayed
by the system under certain circumstances:
- Objects such as barrier chains, trailer draw
bars, vertical poles or fences
- Objects above the sensors such as wall ex­
tensions
- Objects with certain surfaces or structures
such as chain link fences or powder snow
- If you continue driving closer to a low ob­
ject, it may disappear from the sensor range. Note that you will no longer be
warned about th is obstacle .
- Keep enough distance from the curb to re­
duce the risk of damage to the rims .
(D Tips
-The system may provide a warning even
though there are no obstacles in the cover­
age area in some situations, such as :
- certa in road surfaces or when there is tall
grass.
- external ultrasonic sources such as from
cleaning vehicles .
- in heavy rain, snow, or thick vehicle ex­
haust.
- We recommend that you practice parking in
a traffic-free location or parking lot to be­
come familiar with the system . When doing
this, there should be good light and weath­
er conditions.
- You can change the volume and pitch of the
signals as well as the display

- Please refer to the instructions for towing a
trailer located in

- What appears in the infotainment d isplay is
somewhat time-delayed.
- Th e sensors must be kept clean and free of
snow and ice for park aid to operate .

your risk of a collision.
- Please note the risk of a co llision increases
when driving fast, especially through curves
and on slippery or wet roads, and when driv­
ing too close to objects ahead. The ESC and
its integrated systems cannot always pre­
vent collisions -there is still a r isk of acci­
dents!
- Press the accelerator pedal carefully when
accelerating on even, slippery surfaces such
as ice and snow. The drive wheels can spin

even when these control systems are instal­
led and this can affect driving stability and
increase the risk of a collision.
(D Tips
- ABS and ASR only function correctly when
all four wheels are equipped with identical
tires. Different tire s izes can lead to a reduc­
tion in engine power.
- You may hear noises when the systems de­
scribed are working.

Sport mode on
The following examples are unusual situations
where it may make sense to switch sport mode
on in order to allow the wheels to spin:
- Rocking the vehicle to free it when it is stuck
- Driving in deep snow or on loose ground
- Dr iving with snow chains

A WARNING
- Only switch sport mode on when your driv­
ing abilities and the traffic s ituation permit,
because there is a risk of sliding .
- The stabilization function is limited when
sport mode is switched on. The driving
wheels could spin and the vehicle could
swerve, espec ially on slick or slipp ery road
surfaces .
(D Tips
Sport mode cannot be switched on if the
cruise control system* or adaptive cruise con­
trol* is switched on .

ALL wheel drive (quattro)
Applies to: vehicles with all wheel drive
In oil wheel drive, all four wheels ore powered.
General information
In a ll wheel d rive, the d rivi ng power is divided be­
t ween a ll four wheels. Th is happens au tomatical­
ly depending on your driving behavior as well as
the current road cond itions. Also see
c::> page 120, Electronic Stabilization Control
(ESC) .
A center differentia l distrib utes the driv ing power
variably to the front and rear axle. It works to­
gethe r with selective wheel torq ue control, which
activates when driving through curves
c::> page 120. With the sport differentia l", power
d istr ibut ion to the rear wheels is variable and can
be ad justed w ith drive select
c::> page 104.
The a ll wheel drive concept is designed for h igh
engine power. Your ve hicle is exceptionally pow­
erful and has excellent driving characterist ics
both under normal dr iv ing condit ions and on
snow a nd ice . Always read and fo llow safety pre­
cautions

Winter tires
By us ing a ll wheel drive, your vehicle has good
forward mot io n with standard t ires in winter con ­
d itions . However, in winter we recommend using
w inter or all season t ires on all fo ur wheels, be­
cause th is w ill improve the b raking effe ct.
Snow chains
If there are snow chain laws, snow chains must
also be used on vehicles with all wheel drive
c::> page 226, Snow chains .
Replacing tires
For vehicles w ith all wheel dr ive, only whee ls with
the same rolling circumference should be used .
Avoid using t ires with different tread depths

- Also, in veh icles with all wheel drive, adapt
your driving sty le to the current road and
traffic conditions. Do not let the increased
safety provided tempt you into taking r isks,
because this inc reases the risk of an acc i­
dent .
- The b raking ab ility of your vehicle is limited
to the t raction of the whee ls . In this way, i t
is not different from a two wheel d rive vehi­
cle. Do not be tempte d to accelerate to a
hig h speed when the ro ad i s slip pery, be­
cause th is increases the r is k of an accident .
- Note that on wet s treets, the front wheels
c a n " hyd ropla ne" if driv ing a t spee ds tha t
are too h igh. Unlike front wheel drive
veh icles, t he engine does not rev higher sud ­
de nly when t he vehicle begins hydroplan ing.
For this reason, adapt yo ur speed to the
road conditions to reduce the risk of an acci­
de nt.
Energy management
The starting ability is optimized
The energy management system manages the
elec trical energy distribution and optimi zes the
availability of electri cal energy for starting the
engine .
When a vehicle wi th a conventiona l energy sys­
tem is no t driven for a l ong time , the veh icle ba t­
te ry is d raine d by equ ipment ( fo r example, the
immo biliz er). In certa in circ umstances, there
could may not be enough energy to start the en­
gine.
Yo ur vehicle is equipped with an inte lligen t ener ­
gy management system fo r dist ributing elec trici ­
ty. This significantly improves the starting ability
and increases the vehicle battery life . .,.

Wheels
@ For the sake of the environment
Reinstall su mmer tires at the appropriate
time, because they pro vide better handling
when roads are free of snow and ice. Summer
tires cause less road noise, tire wear and fuel
consumption.
@ Tips
You can also use all season tires instead of
w inter t ires. Please note that in some coun­
tries where w inter tires are required, only
w inter t ires with the
& symbol may be per­
m itted .
Snow chains
Snow chains not only imp rove the dr iving in w in ­
ter ro ad conditions, b ut also the brak ing .
.,. Only install snow chains o n the front wheels .
T his applies also to ve hicles w ith all wheel
drive* .
.,. Check and correct the sea ting of the snow
chains a fter dr iv ing a few fee t, if necessa ry. Fo l­
l ow the instructions from the manufacturer .
.,. Note th e maximum speed of 30 mph (SO km/
h). Note the loca l regulat ions.
Use of snow chains is on ly permitted with certain
rim/t ire combinations due to technical reasons .
Check with an authorized Audi dealer or author ­
i z ed Aud i Service Fac ility to see if you may use
snow chains.
You must remove the snow c hains on roads w it h ­
out snow. Otherw ise, you could impa ir dr iv ing
ab ility and damage the tires.
A WARNING
Us ing incorrect snow chains or insta lling snow
chains incorrectly can result in loss of vehicle
cont rol, which inc reases the risk of an acc i­
dent .
(D Note
-Snow cha ins can damage the rims/wheel
covers* if the chains come into d irec t con­
tac t wi th them . Remove the wheel cove rs*
first. Use coa ted snow chai ns.

- Us ing snow c hains that add more than 0. 4
inch (10.S mm) of height can severely dam­
age the whee l housings and other vehicle
components .
- Do not insta ll and use snow chains if there is
a malfunction in the adapt ive a ir suspen­
sion*, because the vehicle he ight will be
very low. If you drive wit h snow chains any­
way, the whee l housings and other vehicle
components can be seve rely damaged .

Low aspect ratio tires
You r A udi is factory-equ ipped with low aspect ra­
tio t ires . T hese tires have bee n thoroug hly tested
a n d been sele cted specifi ca lly for your mode l for
thei r sup erb pe rformance, road fee l and han dling
u nder a var iety of driving conditions. Ask your au ­
thori zed Audi dea ler for more detai ls .
The low as pec t rat io o f these tires is indica ted by
a n umera l of
55 or le ss in t he t ire's si ze designa ­
tion . The numeral represents the ratio of the
tire's si dewa ll height in relation to its trea d width
expressed in percentage. Conventiona l tires have
a height/width ratio of 60 or more.
The performance of low-aspect-ratio tire s is par­
ticularly sensitive to improper inflation pres­
sure. It is the refore important that low aspect
rat io tires are inflated to the specified pressure
and that the inflation pressure is regularly
checked and maintained. Tir e pressur es should
be checked at lea st once a month and always
before a long trip

What you can do to avoid tire and rim
damage
Low aspect ratio tires can be damaged more eas i­
l y by impact with potholes, curbs, gullies or
r idges on the road , particula rly if the tire is un -
der i nfla ted. .,..

Tire pressure monitoring system
Applies to: vehicles with Tire Pressure Monitoring System in­
dicator
The tire pressure indicator in the instrument
cluster informs you if the tire pressure is too low
or if there is a system malfunction .

Using the ABS sensors, the tire pressure monitor­
ing system compares the tire tread circumfer­
ence and vib ration characteristics of the individu­
al tires.
If the pressure changes in one or more
tires, this is indicated in the instrument cluster
display with an indicator light
RE and a message.
If only one tire is affected, the location of that
tire will be indicated.
The tire pressures must be stored in the Infotain ­
ment system again each time the pressures
change (switching between partial and full load pressure) or after changing or replacing a tire on
your vehicle ¢
page 230 . The tire pressure moni ­
toring system only monitors the tire pressure you have stored. Refer to the tire pressure label for
the recommended tire pressure for your vehicle
¢page 220, fig.191 .
Tire tread circumference and v ibration character­
istics can change and cause a tire pressure warn­
ing if:
- the tire pressure in one or more tires is too low.
- the tire has structural damage.
- the tire was replaced or the tire pressure was
changed and it was not stored

Check/correct the pressures of all four tires and
store the pressure again in the Infotainment sys­
tem

Ifffi:m appears
after switching the ignition on or while driving
and the
RE indicator light in the instrument clus­
ter blinks for approximately one minute and then
stays on, there is system malfunction. Try to
store the correct tire pressures¢
page 230. If
the indicator light does turn off or turns on again
after a short period of time , drive to an author­
ized Audi dealer or author ized Audi Service Facili­
ty immediately to have the malfunction correct­
ed.
_& WARNING ,..___
- If the tire pressure indicator appears in the
d isplay, reduce your speed immediately and
avoid any hard steering or braking maneu­
vers. Stop as soon as possible and check the
tires and their pressure.
- The driver is responsible for maintaining the
correct tire pressure. You must check the
tire pressure regularly.
- Under certain conditions (such as a sporty
driving style, winter conditions or unpaved roads), the tire pressure monitoring system
indicator may be delayed .
@ Tips
-The tire pressure monitoring system can al­
so stop working when there is an ESC mal­
function .
- Using snow chains may result in a system
malfunction.
- The tire pressure monitoring system in your
Audi was calibrated with "Audi Original
Tires"¢
page 217 . We recommend that you
use these tires.

Storing tire pressures
Applies to: vehicles with Tire Pressure Monito ring System in­
dicator
If the tire pressure changes or a tire is replaced, it must be confirmed in the Infotainment sys­tem.

Snow chains
Using snow chains on the spare tire is not permit­
ted due to technical reasons.
I f you have to drive with snow chains and a front
tire fa ils, mount the spa re tire in place of a rear
tire. Install the snow chains on the rear tire that
you removed , and insta ll that in place of the
front tire that failed.
A WARNING
-
-After installing a spare tire, the tire pres­
sure must be checked as quickly as possible.
- Do not drive faster than 50 mph (80 km/h)
with a spare tire . Driving faster than that in­
creases the risk of an acc ident.
- Avoid full-throttle acceleration, heavy brak­
ing, and fast cornering, because this in­
creases the risk of an acc ident.
- Never drive using more than one spare tire,
because this increases the r isk of an acci­
dent .
- Norma l tires or winter tires must not be
mounted on the spare tire rim.
- Only use the collaps ible spare tire in emer­
gencies and drive very carefully, especially if
it is more than 6 years o ld.
