EBU31760CoolantCheck the coolant level in the coolant reser-
voir when the engine is cold (the coolant level
will vary with engine temperature).
The coolant level is satisfactory if it is be-
tween the minimum and maximum level
marks on the coolant reservoir. If the coolant
level is at or below the minimum level mark,
add additional coolant to bring the level up to
maximum level mark. If coolant is not avail-
able, add distilled water. Change the coolant
every two years. (See page 8-20.)NOTICEECB02120Hard water or salt water is harmful to the
engine. You may use soft water if you can-
not get distilled water.
EBU31770Final gear oilMake sure the final gear oil is at the specified
level. Add oil as necessary. (See page 8-16
for details.)
If desired, an SAE 80W-90 hypoid gear oil
may be used for all conditions.TIPGL-4 is a quality and additive rating; GL-5 or
GL-6 rated hypoid gear oils may also be used. EBU31780Differential gear oilMake sure the differential gear oil is at the
specified level. Add oil as necessary. (See
page 8-18 for details.)
Coolant reservoir capacity (up to the maxi-
mum level mark):0.28 L (0.30 US qt, 0.25 Imp.qt)
Recommended oil:SAE 80 API GL-4 Hypoid gear oil
Recommended oil: SAE 80 API GL-4 Hypoid gear oil

To install1. Lift the cargo bed up.
2. Place the panel in the original position,
and then install the bolts and the quick
fastener screws.
3. Lower the cargo bed.EBU32360Engine oil and oil filter cartridgeCheck engine oil level before each operation.
In addition, change the oi l and the oil filter car-
tridge at the intervals specified in the periodic
maintenance and lubrication chart.
To check the engine oil level 1. Park the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Check the engine oil level on a cold en- gine.TIPIf the engine was started before checking the
oil level, be sure to warm up the engine suffi-
ciently, and then wait at least 10 minutes until
the oil settles for an accurate reading.
3. Lift the cargo bed up. (See page 4-24 forcargo bed lifting and lowering proce-
dures.)
4. Remove the engine oil dipstick, and then wipe it off with a clean rag.
5. Insert the dipstick completely into the oil filler hole, and then remove it again to
check the oil level.TIPThe engine oil should be between the mini-
mum and maximum level marks. 1. Engine oil dipstick

6. If the engine oil is at or below the mini-mum level mark, remove the right rear
panel, and then add sufficient oil of the
recommended type to raise it to the cor-
rect level. (See page 8-11 for right rear
panel removal and installation proce-
dures.)
7. Insert the dipstick completely into the oil filler hole, and then install the panel.
8. Lower the cargo bed. To change the engine oil (with or without
oil filter cartridge replacement)
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Start the engine, warm it up for several minutes, and then turn it off.
3. Lift the cargo bed up. (See page 4-24 for cargo bed lifting and lowering proce-
dures.)
4. Remove the right rear panel. (See page 8-11 for right rear panel removal and ins-
tallation procedures.)
5. Place an oil pan under the engine to col- lect the used oil, and then remove the
dipstick.
6. Remove the engine oil drain bolt and its gasket to drain the oil from the crank-
case.1. Maximum level mark

4. Install the differential gear oil drain boltand its new gasket, and then tighten the
bolt to the specified torque.
5. Refill the differential gear case with the recommended oil. NOTICE: Be sure no
foreign material enters the differential
gear case.

6. Check the oil filler bolt gasket for dam- age, and replace it if necessary.
7. Install the differential gear oil filler bolt and its gasket, and then tighten the bolt
to the specified torque. 8. Check for oil leakage. If oil leakage is
found, check for the cause.
EBU32391CoolantThe coolant level should be checked before
each ride. In addition, the coolant must be
changed at the intervals specified in the peri-
odic maintenance and lubrication chart.
Checking the coolant level1. Park the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Check the coolant level in the coolant reservoir when the engine is cold as the
coolant level varies with engine tempera-
ture.TIPThe coolant should be between the minimum
and maximum level marks.
