gram), BAS (Brake Assist), PRE ‑SAFE®, the HOLD function and hill
start assist are temporarily unavailable.

In addition, the ÷,åand! warning lamps light up in the
instrument cluster.
ATTENTION ASSIST is deactivated.
Possible causes are:

GWARNING
The brake system continues to function normally, but without the
functions listed above. The wheels could therefore lock if you
brake hard, for example.
The steerability and braking characteristics may be severely affec-
ted. The braking distance in an emergency braking situation can
increase.
If ESP
®is not operational, ESP®is unable to stabilize the vehicle.
There is an increased risk of skidding and an accident.
XCarefully drive a suitable distance, making slight steering move-
ments at a speed above 12 mph (20 km/h).
If the display message disappears, the functions mentioned
above are available again.
If the multifunction display still shows the display message:
XDrive on carefully.
XVisit a qualified specialist workshop.

Tire Pressure
The tire pressure is too low in at least one of the tires, or the tire
pressure difference between the wheels is too great.
XCheck the tire pressures at the next opportunity (Ypage 575).
XIf necessary, correct the tire pressure.
XRestart the tire pressure monitor (Ypage 577).
TirePressureSoonThe tire pressure in one or more tires has dropped significantly.
The wheel position is shown in the multifunction display.
A warning tone also sounds.
GWARNING
Tire pressures that are too low pose the following hazards:
Rthey may burst, especially as the load and vehicle speed
increase.
Rthey may wear excessively and/or unevenly, which may greatly
impair tire traction.
Rthe driving characteristics, as well as steering and braking, may
be greatly impaired.
There is a risk of an accident.
XStop the vehicle without making any sudden steering or braking
maneuvers. Pay attention to the traffic conditions as you do so.
XSecure the vehicle against rolling away (Ypage 171).
XCheck the tires and, if necessary, follow the instructions for a
flat tire (
Ypage 550).
XCheck the tire pressure (Ypage 575).

tronic brake force distribution), PRE‑SAFE®, PRE‑SAFE®Brake, the
HOLD function, hill start assist are therefore also deactivated, for example.
Possible causes are:

Switching COMAND on/off
XPress the qcontrol knob.
When you switch on COMAND, a warning
message will appear. COMAND calls up the
previously selected menu.
If you switch off COMAND, playback of the current audio or video source will also be
switched off.
Switching the sound on or off
Audio/video source sound
XPress the 8button on the COMAND
controller or on the multifunction steering
wheel.
The sound from the respective audio or
video source is switched on or off.
iWhen the sound is switched off, you will
see the ,symbol in the status bar. If you
change the audio or video source or change
the volume, the sound is automatically
switched on.
iEven if the sound is switched off, you will
still hear navigation system announce-
ments. Switching off navigation announcements

You can make various sound settings for the
diff erent audio and video sources. This means
that it ispossible to set more bass for radio
mode than for audio CDmode, for example.
You can call up the respective sound menu
from the menu of the desired mode.
