Parking brake indicator
It is possible that the parking br ake is not fully engaged or released
Operate the parking brake switch once again.
This light comes on when the park ing brake is not released. If the
light turns off after the parking brake is fully released, the system is
operating normally. (Flashes)
Brake hold operated indicator
Indicates a malfunction in the brake hold system
Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
Electric power steering system warning light (warning buzzer)
Indicates a malfunction in the EP S (Electric Power Steering) sys-
tem
Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
LKA indicator/LDA indicator
Indicates a malfunction in the LKA (Lane-Keeping Assist)/LDA
(Lane Departure Alert with steering control)
When “Lane Keeping Assist Unavailable” or “Lane Departure
Alert Unavailable” is displayed on the multi-information display,
turn the LKA/LDA system off, drive the vehicle for a short time,
and then turn the LKA/LDA system back on. ( P. 2 9 6 , 3 0 5 )
When a message other than above is displayed, follow the
instructions displayed in the message.
Slip indicator
When the warning li ght is illuminated:
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The VSC system;
•The TRAC system;
• The Trailer Sway Control; or

When using the compact spare tire ●
Remember that the compact spare tire provid ed is specifically designed for use with
your vehicle. Do not use your compact spare tire on another vehicle. ●
Do not use more than one compact spare tire simultaneously. ●
Replace the compact spare tire with a standard tire as soon as possible.●
Avoid sudden acceleration, ab rupt steering, sudden bra king and shifting operations
that cause sudden engine braking. ■
When the compact spare tire is attached
The vehicle speed may not be correctly detected, and the following systems may not
operate correctly:

Do not drive at speeds in excess of 50 mph (80 km/h) when a compact spare tire is

One or both of the 12-volt battery terminals may be disconnected. ( P. 4 8 3 )Contact your Lexus dealer if the problem cannot be repaired, or if repair procedures
are unknown.
When the hybrid system does not start, the following steps can be used as an
interim measure to start the hybrid system if the power switch is functioning nor-
mally.
Do not use this starting procedur e except in cases of emergency.
Turn the power switch to ON mode and check that the parking brake is set.

Shift the shift lever to P.
Turn the power switch to ACCESSORY mode.
Press and hold the power switch for ab out 15 seconds while depressing the
brake pedal firmly.
Even if the hybrid system can be starte d using the above steps, the system may
be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.The interior lights and headlights do not turn on, or the horn does not
sound.

Turn the power switch to ACCESSORY mode.
Depress the brake pedal.
Pry the cover up with a flathead
screwdriver or equivalent tool. To prevent damage to the cover, cover
the tip of the screwdriver with a rag.
Press the shift lock override button. The shift lever can be shifted while the
button is pressedIf the shift lever cannot be shifted from P If the shift lever cannot be shifted with your foot on the brake pedal, there may
be a problem with the shift lock system (a system to prevent accidental opera-
tion of the shift lever). Have the vehicl e inspected by your Lexus dealer imme-
diately.
The following steps may be used as an emergency measure to ensure that the

Stopping the hybrid system
Shift the shift lever to P, set the parking brake, and press the power switch as you normally
do when stopping the hybrid system. ■
Replacing the key battery
As the above procedure is a temporary measure, it is recommended that the electronic
key battery be replaced immediately when the battery is depleted. ( P. 5 0 6 )■
Changing power switch modes
Release the brake pedal and press the power switch in step above.
The hybrid system does not start and mode s will be changed each time the switch is

When the electronic key does not work properly ●
Make sure that the smart access system wi th push-button start has not been deacti-
vated in the custom ization setting. If it is off, turn the function on.

When using the mechanical key and operating the power windows or the moon roof
or panoramic moon roof
Operate the power window or the moon roof or panoramic moon roof after checking
to make sure that there is no possibility of any passenger ha ving any of their body parts
caught in the window or the moon roof or panoramic moon roof.
Also, do not allow children to operate the mech anical key. It is possible for children and
other passengers to get caught in the powe r window or the moon roof or panoramic

Remove the mud, snow or sand from around the front wheels.
Place wood, stones or some other material under the front wheels to help pro-
vide traction.
Restart the hybrid system.
Shift the shift lever to D or R and release the parking brake. Then, while exer-
cising caution, depress the accelerator pedal. ■
When it is difficult to free the vehicle
If the vehicle becomes stuck Carry out the following procedures if the tires spin or the vehicle becomes
stuck in mud, dirt or snow:
