CAUTION
■When installing a child restraint system (except for Taiwan)
●Vehicles without airbag manual on-off
switch (except for Korea):
Only put a forward-facing child restraint
system on the front seat when unavoidable.
When installing a forward-facing child
restraint on the front passenger seat, move
the seat as far back as possible. Failure to
do so may result in death or serious injury if
the airbags deploy (inflate).
Vehicles with airbag manual on-off switch
(except for Korea):

restraint on the front passenger seat, move
the seat as far back as possible. Failure to

front seat when unavoidable. When install-
ing a forward-facing child restraint on the

back as possible even if the “AIR BAG

airbag manual on-off switch is on. The force

tem on the front passenger seat even if “AIR
BAG OFF” indicator light is illuminated.

sun visor, indicating it is forbidden to attach

■When installing a child restraint system (for Taiwan)
Follow the directions given in the child restra int system installation manual and fix the
child restraint system securely in place.
If the child restraint system is not correctly fixed in place, the child or other passengers
may be seriously injured or even killed in the event of a sudden braking, sudden swerv-
ing or an accident.
●If the driver’s seat interferes with the child
restraint system and prevents it from being
attached correctly, attach the child restraint
system to the right-hand rear seat.
●Adjust the front passenger seat so that it does
not interfere with the child restraint system.
●Never use a child restraint system on the front
passenger seat.

passenger airbag can cause death or serious
injury to children in the event of an accident.

The alarm uses light and sound to give an alert when an intrusion is
detected.
The alarm is triggered in the following situations when the alarm is set:
●Vehicles without airbag manual on-off system: A locked door or trunk is
unlocked or opened in any way ot her than using the entry function,
wireless remote control or mechanical key. (The doors will lock again
automatically.)
●Vehicles with airbag manual on-off system: A locked door or trunk is
unlocked or opened in any way other than using the entry function or
wireless remote control. (The do ors will lock again automatically.)
●The hood is opened.
●The intrusion sensor detects something moving inside the vehicle. (An
intruder gets in the vehicle.) (if equipped)
●The tilt sensor detects a change of vehicle inclination. (if equipped)
Close the doors, trunk and hood,
and lock all the doors using the
entry function or wireless remote
control. The system will be set auto-
matically after 30 seconds.
Vehicles without airbag manual on-
off system: The alarm can also be set
using the mechanical key.
The indicator light changes from
being on to flashing when the system
is set.

Do one of the following to deactivate or stop the alarm:
Vehicles without airbag manual on-off system
●Unlock the doors or open the trunk.
●Turn the engine switch to ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON mode, or
start the engine. (The alarm will be deactivated or stopped after a few
seconds.)
Vehicles with airbag manual on-off system
●Unlock the doors or open the trunk using the entry function or wireless
remote control.
●Start the engine. (The alarm will be deactivated or stopped after a few
seconds.)
■System maintenance
The vehicle has a maintenance-free type alarm system.
■Items to check before locking the vehicle
To prevent unexpected triggering of the alarm and vehicle theft, make sure of the fol-
lowing:
●Nobody is in the vehicle.
●The windows and moon roof (if equipped) are closed before the alarm is set.
●No valuables or other personal items are left in the vehicle.

■Triggering of the alarm
The alarm may be triggered in the following situations:
(Stopping the alarm deactivates the alarm system.)
■Alarm-operated door lock
●When the alarm is operating, the doors are locked automatically to prevent intrud-
ers.
●Do not leave the key inside the vehicle when the alarm is operating, and make sure
the key is not inside the vehicle when recharging or replacing the battery.
●Vehicles with airbag manual on-off system:
The doors or trunk are unlocked using the
mechanical key.
●A person inside the vehicle opens a door,
the trunk or hood.
●The battery is recharged or replaced when
the vehicle is locked. ( P. 639)
