LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL
(If Equipped)
This axle provides added traction on
slippery surfaces, particularly when one
wheel is on a poor traction surface. Under
normal conditions, the limited-slip axle
functions like a standard rear axle. The axle
may exhibit a slight noise or vibration
during tight turns with low vehicle speed.
This is normal behavior and indicates the
axle is working.

1 Reference the reservoir cap for proper fluid.
2 The rear axle is filled with synthetic rear axle lubricant, and it is considered lubricated
for life. Do not check or change the lubricant unless you suspect a leak or submerge the
axle in water. Contact an authorized dealer.
3 Add 4 oz. (118 ml) of Additive Friction Modifier XL-3 or equivalent for complete refill of
Ford limited-slip differential.
4 Approximate dry fill capacity. Actual amount may vary during fluid changes.
