The Personal Safety System provides animproved overall level of frontal crashprotection to front seat occupants and isdesigned to help further reduce the risk ofairbag-related injuries. The system is ableto analyze different occupant conditionsand crash severity before activating theappropriate safety devices to help betterprotect a range of occupants in a varietyof frontal crash situations.
The Vehicle Personal Safety Systemconsists of:
•Driver and passenger dual-stage airbagsupplemental restraints.
•Front seat outboard safety belts withpretensioners, energy managementretractors and safety belt usagesensors.
•Driver seat position sensor.
•Front passenger sensing system.
•Passenger airbag off and on indicatorlamp.
•Front crash severity sensors.
•Restraints control module with impactand safing sensors.
•Restraint system warning light andbackup tone.
•The electrical wiring for the airbags, crash sensors, safety beltpretensioners, front safety belt usagesensors, driver seat position sensor, front passenger sensing system andindicator lights.
How Does the Personal SafetySystem Work?
The Personal Safety System can adapt thedeployment strategy of the safety devicesaccording to crash severity and occupantconditions. A collection of crash andoccupant sensors provides information tothe restraints control module. During acrash, the restraints control module maydeploy the safety belt pretensioners, oneor both stages of the dual-stage airbagsbased on crash severity and occupantconditions.

GENERAL INFORMATION
WARNING
Have the battery pack serviced onlyby an authorized electric vehicletechnician. Improper handling canresult in personal injury or death.
Note:The high-voltage battery does notrequire regular service maintenance.
Your vehicle consists of varioushigh-voltage components and wiring. Allof the high-voltage power flows throughspecific wiring assemblies labeled as suchor covered with a solid orange convolute, orange striped tape or both. Do not comein contact with these components.
The high-voltage battery system is ahigh-voltage, lithium-ion battery system. The pack is located in the rear cargo area. The high-voltage battery system uses anair cooled system to regulate thehigh-voltage battery temperature and helpmaximize high-voltage battery life.
Note:The high-voltage battery is equippedwith air vents in the package tray that helpto regulate its temperature. It is importantto keep these openings free of obstructions.Do not block the flow of cabin air to thisarea.
HIGH-VOLTAGE SERVICEDISCONNECT
The high-voltage service disconnect turnsoff power from the high-voltage battery.
Note:There is a disconnect circuit in yourvehicle. Disconnecting the circuit willautomatically disable the high-voltagebattery.
To disable the battery and stop allhigh-voltage electric activity in the vehicleyou can access high-voltage disconnectcircuit. To do this, you must unplug thecircuit from the circuit port connected tothe battery.

Closing the Hood
1.Remove the hood strut from the catchand secure it correctly after use.
2. Lower the hood and allow it to dropunder its own weight for the last 8-12in (20-30 cm).
Note:Make sure that the hood is correctlyclosed.
