WARNING
● Do not allow anyone that has not discharged static electricity from their
body to come close to an open fuel tank.
● Do not inhale vaporized fuel.
Fuel contains substances that are harmful if inhaled.
● Do not smoke while refueling the vehicle.
Doing so may cause the fuel to ignite and cause a fire.
● Do not return to the vehicle or touch any person or object that is statically
charged.
This may cause static electricity to build up, resulting in a possible ignition
hazard.
■ When refueling
Observe the following precautions to pr event fuel overflowing from the fuel
tank:
● Securely insert the fuel nozzle into the fuel filler neck.
● Stop filling the tank after the fuel nozzle automatically clicks off.
● Do not top off the fuel tank.
■ When replacing the fuel cap
Do not use anything but a genuine Toyota fuel tank cap designed for your
vehicle. Doing so may cause a fire or other incident which may result in
death or serious injury.
NOTICE
■ Refueling
Do not spill fuel during refueling.
Doing so may damage the vehicle, such as causing the emission control
system to operate abnormally, damage fuel system components, or the
vehicle’s painted surface.

The Toyota Safety Sense system consists of the following drive
assist systems and contributes to a safe and comfortable driv-
ing experience.

The pre-crash safety system is equipped with a sophisticated com-
puter that will record certain data, such as:
• How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the accelerator and/or
brake pedal
• Vehicle speed
• Operation status of the pre-crash safety system functions
• Information (such as the distance and relative speed between your
vehicle and the vehicle ahead or another object)
The pre-crash safety system does not record conversations, sounds
or pictures.
● Data usage
Toyota may use the data recorded in these computers to diagnose
malfunctions, conduct research and development, and improve
quality.
Toyota will not disclose the recorded data to a third party except:
• With the consent of the vehicle owner or with the consent of the
lessee if the vehicle is leased
• In response to an official request by the police, a court of law or a
government agency
• For use by Toyota in a lawsuit
• For research purposes where the data is not tied to a specific
vehicle or vehicle owner
The front sensor is located on the
upper side of the windshield. It
consists of 2 types of sensors,
each of which detects information
necessary to operate the drive
assist systems.

WARNING
The front sensor uses lasers to detect vehicles ahead of your vehicle. The
front sensor is classified as class 1M laser product according to the IEC
60825-1 standard. Under normal usage conditions, these lasers are not harm-
ful to the naked eye. However, it is necessary to observe the following precau-
tions.
Failure to do so may result in the loss of eyesight or severe visual impairment.
● To avoid hazardous laser radiation exposure, never attempt to disassem-
ble the front sensor (e.g. remove the lenses). When disassembled, the
front sensor is classified as a class 3B laser product according to the IEC
60825-1 standard. Class 3B lasers are hazardous and pose a risk of eye
injury under direct exposure.
● Do not attempt to look into the front sensor with a magnifying glass, micro-
scope or other optical instrument within a distance of less than 100 mm
(3.9 in.).

■ Front sensor
Observe the following to ensure that the sensor operates correctly:
B: Approximately 20 cm (7.9 in.) (Approximately 10 cm (4.0 in.) to the right and left from the center of the front sensor)
● Do not attach window tinting to the windshield.
● If the part of the windshield in front of the front sensor is fogged up or cov- ered with condensation or ice, use the windshield defogger to remove thefog, condensation or ice.
● Keep the windshield clean at all times. The pre-crash safety system may not function properly if the windshield isdirty or covered with an oily film, water droplets, snow, etc. If the inner side of the windshield where the front sensor is installed is dirty,do not attempt to remove the front sensor. Contact any authorized Toyotadealer or repairer, or another dul y qualified and equipped professional.
● If the windshield needs to be replaced, contact any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another dul y qualified and equipped professional.
● Do not install an antenna in front of the sensor.
● Do not spill liquid onto the sensor.
● Do not allow bright lights to shine into the sensor.
●Do not damage or let the lenses of the front sensor get dirty. When cleaning the inner side of the windshield, do not let glass cleaner con-tact the lenses. Also, do not touch the lenses. For proper care of the lenses of the front sensor, contact any authorizedToyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped profes-sional.
●Do not change the installation position or direction of the sensor or remove it.The direction of the sensor is precisely adjusted.
●Do not subject the sensor to strong impact or disassemble it.
●Do not install an electronic device or device that emits strong electric wavesnear the front sensor.
●Do not place reflective objects on top of the instrument panel.
● Do not attach stickers, including trans- parent stickers, or other items to theouter side of the windshield in front ofthe front sensor (shaded area in the illustration).
A: From the top of the windshield to approximately 10 cm (4.0 in.) below the bottom of the front sensor
● Do not install or attach anything to the inner side of the windshield under thefront sensor (shaded area in the illustra-tion).

PCS (Pre-Crash Safety system)∗
◆Pre-crash warning
When the system determines
that the possibility of a frontal
collision with a vehicle is high, a
buzzer will sound and the PCS
activation indicator will flash to
urge the driver to take evasive
action.
◆Pre-crash brake assist
When the system determines that the possibility of a frontal colli-
sion with a vehicle is high, the system applies greater braking force
in relation to how strongly the brake pedal is depressed.
◆Pre-crash braking
When the system determines that the possibility of a frontal colli-
sion with a vehicle is high, the system warns the driver. If the sys-
tem determines that the possibility of a collision is extremely high,
the brakes are automatically applied to help avoid the collision or
reduce the collision speed.
∗: If equipped
The pre-crash safety system uses the front sensor to detect
vehicles in front of your vehicle. When the system determines
that the possibility of a frontal collision with a vehicle is high,
pre-crash warning urges the driver to take evasive action and
the potential brake pressure will be increased to help the driver
avoid the collision.
If the system determines that the possibility of a frontal collision
with a vehicle is extremely high, the brakes are automatically
applied to help avoid the collision or help reduce the impact to
the vehicle occupants and the vehicle in the collision.
The pre-crash warning timing can be changed or the system can be
enabled/disabled, as necessary, by operating the switch. ( →P. 216)

■Changing the pre-crash warning timing
Each time the PCS switch is
pressed, the warning timing
changes as follows:
Far (operation starts earlier)
Middle (default setting)
Near (operation starts later)
When the PCS switch is
pressed to turn the system on,
the PCS activation indicator will
turn on and the current warning
timing will be displayed on the
multi-information display.
■Disabling the pre-crash safety system
Press the PCS switch for 3 sec-
onds or more.
The PCS warning light will turn
on and a message will be dis-
played on the multi-information
display.
To enable the system, press the
PCS switch again.
Vehicles without a smart entry &
start system: The system is
enabled each time the power
switch is turned to the “ON”
position.
