The mirror heating only works when the engine is running.
Folding in the exterior mirrors
The whole exterior mirror can be manually folded towards the side windows.
To restore it to its original position, fold back from the side window until it au-
dibly clicks into place.WARNINGDo not touch the exterior mirror surfaces if the exterior mirror heater is
switched on - risk of burns.
Note
If the electrical mirror setting fails at any time, the mirrors can be adjusted by

Caution when adjusting the seat! You may suffer crushing injuries as a re-
sult of adjusting the seat without paying proper attention.

Do not transport any objects on the front passenger seat other than ob-
jects intended for this purpose (e.g. child safety seat) – risk of accident.
Note
After a certain time, play can develop within the adjustment mechanism for
the backrest angle.

Pressing once switches the seat heater on at its maximum level - Level 2.
Press repeatedly to reduce the intensity of the heater until it is switched off.
The level of the seat heater is indicated by the number of illuminated warning
lights in the switch.
WARNINGIf you have subdued pain and/or temperature sensitivity, e.g. through medi-
cation, paralysis or because of chronic illness (e.g. diabetes), we do not rec-
ommend you use the seat heating. Burns that are slow to heal may result.
If the seat heater is used, we recommend to make regular breaks in your
journey when driving long distances, so that the body can recuperate from
the stress of the journey. Please consult your doctor, who can evaluate
your specific condition.
CAUTION
The following instructions must be observed to avoid damage to the seats.■Do not kneel on the seats or otherwise apply concentrated pressure to them.■
Do not turn on any of the seat heaters if seats are not occupied.
■
Do not switch on the relevant seat heating if the seats have objects attached
to or placed on them, for example a child seat, a bag, etc.
■
When there are additional protective covers or protective covers mounted on
each of the seats, do not turn the seat heating on.
Note
■ If the heaters for the rear seats are set to their highest intensity - level 2,
they are automatically switched down to level 1 after 10 minutes.■

The rear seat backrest can be folded forwards to increase the size of the lug-
gage compartment. The seat backrests can also be folded forward individually
on vehicles with divided rear seats.
Before folding the seat backrests forwards, adjust the position of the front
seats in such a way that they are not damaged by the folded seat backrests.

In the undivided seat back, pull the two outer belts to the side panel. The re-
lease handles A must be locked audibly on both sides of the seat backrest.

WARNING■ In occupied rear seats make sure that the respective seat backrests are
properly engaged.■
After folding back the seat back, the seat belts must be ready for use.
■
The seat backrests must be securely latched in position so that no ob-
jects from the luggage compartment can slip into the passenger compart-
ment under sudden braking – risk of injury.
■
When transporting objects in the luggage compartment that has been en-
larged by folding the backrest forward, ensure the safety of the passengers
transported on the other rear seats.
CAUTION
Ensure that the seat belts are not damaged when operating the seat backr-
ests. Under no circumstances must the rear seat belts be jammed by the fol-
ded back seat backrests.

The buckle latch of the outer seat belts C » Fig. 65 can be inserted into the
side panel.

The maximum permissible load of each of the hooks is 2 kg.
WARNING■ Never leave any heavy or sharp-edged objects in the pockets of the items
of clothing hung up.■
Do not use hangers to hang the clothes - there is a risk of limiting the ef-
fectiveness of head airbags.
■
Ensure that any clothes hanging from the hooks do not impair your vision
to the rear.

The Storage pockets » Fig. 86 are intended for the Storage e.g. of maps, maga-
zines, etc.
WARNINGNever put heavy items in the map pockets – risk of injury.
CAUTION
Never put large objects into the map pockets, e.g. bottles or objects with sharp
edges - risk of damaging the pockets and seat coverings.
Storage pockets on the inner sides of the front seats

The storage pockets are located on the inner sides of the front seats » Fig. 87.
The storage pockets are used for storing small and light objects, such as mo-
bile phones, etc.
The maximum permissible load of each of the pockets is 150 g.
WARNINGDo not exceed the maximum permissible load of the pockets. Heavy objects
are not secured sufficiently – risk of injury!
CAUTION
Never put large objects into the map pockets, e.g. bottles or objects with sharp
edges - risk of damaging the pockets and seat coverings.81Transporting and practical equipment

When transporting cargo the instructions below must be followed
▶ When transporting heavy objects, the driving characteristics change due to
the shift in the centre of gravity. The speed and style of driving must be ad-
justed accordingly.
▶ The cargo is stowed in the luggage compartment. To prevent this from mov-
ing, it should be secured with suitable lashing straps to the lashing eyes or
secured with fixing nets.
▶ Distribute loads as evenly as possible.
▶ Place heavy objects as far forward as possible.
▶ Items carried in the luggage compartment must be stowed in such a way
that no objects are able to slip forward under sudden driving manoeuvres or
braking – risk of injury.
▶ Match the tyre pressure to the load.
▶ When transporting loads in the luggage compartment that has been en-
larged by folding the rear seats forward, ensure the safety of the passengers
transported on the other rear seats.
In the event of an accident, even small and light objects gain so much kinetic energy that they can cause severe injuries.
The magnitude of the kinetic energy is dependent on the speed at which the
vehicle is travelling and the weight of the object.
Example: In the event of a frontal collision at a speed of 50 km/h, an object
weighing 4.5 kg produces energy corresponding to 20 times its own weight.
This means that it results in a weight of approx. 90 kg “ ”.
Luggage compartment light
The warning light turns on when tailgate is opened.
The warning light turns off when the tailgate is closed.
If the boot lid is open and the ignition switched off, the light will extinguish
automatically after around 10 minutes.WARNING■ Never exceed the maximum permissible load of the respective fasteners,
nets, hooks etc., as heavy objects are not sufficiently secured - there is a
risk of injury!■
If the cargo is tied down with unsuitable or damaged lashing straps, inju-
ries can occur in the event of braking manoeuvres or accidents.
WARNING (Continued)■ Loose cargo can be thrown forward during a sudden manoeuvre or in case
of an accident, and can injure the occupants or other road users.■
Loose cargo could hit a deployed airbag and injure occupants – danger of
death!
CAUTION
■ Never exceed the maximum permissible load of the respective fasteners,
nets, hooks etc. - these could be damaged.■
Please ensure that the heating elements for the rear window heater are not
damaged as a result of abrasive objects.

panel can occur if handled incorrectly. The following guidelines must be ob-
