In order for these systems to be fully effective, follow the operation
and maintenance guidelines below:
F
T
o obtain an even air distribution, take care not to obstruct
the exterior air intake grilles located at the base of the
windscreen, the nozzles, the vents and the air outlets, as well
as the air extractor located in the boot.
F
Do not cover the sunshine sensor
, located on the dashboard;
this is used for regulation of the air conditioning system.
F
Operate the air conditioning system for at least 5 to
10
minutes, once or twice a month to keep it in good working
order.
F Ensure
that the passenger compartment filter is in good
condition
and have the filter elements replaced regularly
(refer to the "Checks" section).
W
e recommend the use of a combined passenger
compartment
filter.
Thanks
to its special active additive,
it
contributes to the purification of the air breathed by the
occupants and the cleanliness of the passenger compartment
(reduction of allergic symptoms, bad odours and greasy
deposits).
F
T
o ensure correct operation of the air conditioning system,
you are also advised to refer to the warranty and maintenance
record for information on when it should be checked.
F
If the system does not produce cold air
, switch it off and
contact
a PEUGEOT
dealer or a qualified workshop.
When towing the maximum load on a steep gradient in high
temperatures, switching off the air conditioning increases the
available engine power and so improves towing performance. The condensation created by the air conditioning results in a
discharge of water under the vehicle which is perfectly normal. If after an extended stop in sunshine, the interior temperature is
very
high, first ventilate the cabin for a few moments.
Put
the air flow control at a setting high enough to quickly change
the air in the cabin.
The air conditioning system does not contain chlorine and does
not present any danger to the ozone layer
.

DIRECTION INDICATORS
If you forget to cancel the direction indicators for more than
twenty seconds, the volume of the audible signal will increase if
the speed is above 40 mph (60 km/h).
F
Left: lower the lighting stalk passing the point of resistance.
F
Right: raise the lighting stalk passing the point of resistance.
HAZARD WARNING LAMPS
A visual warning by means of the direction indicators to alert other road\
users to a vehicle breakdown, towing or accident.
F Press
this button, the direction indicators flash.
They can operate with the ignition off.
AUTOMATIC OPERA TION OF HAZAR d
W
ARNING LAMPS *
When braking in an emergency, depending on the deceleration, the
hazard warning lamps come on automatically.
They
switch off automatically the first time you accelerate.
F
Y
ou can also switch them off by pressing the button.
Deactivating the DSC/ASR systems also deactivates the automatic
operation of the hazard warning lamps; refer to the "Trajectory control
systems - Deactivation" section.
* Except for the 1.6 THP 270 hp version.
Three flashes of the direction indicators
F Press briefly upwards or downwards, without going beyond the point of resistance; the direction indicators will flash 3 times.

TOWING A VEHICLE
TOWING EYE
This is stored in the boot under the floor.
For access to it:
F
open the boot,
F
raise the floor using the strap,
F
secure it in the vertical position beyond the stops, located on the
sides of the boot,
F
remove the towing eye from the storage box.
GENERAL RECOMMEN d ATIONS
Observe the legislation in force in your country.
Ensure that the weight of the towing vehicle is higher than that of
the towed vehicle.
The driver must remain at the wheel of the towed vehicle and
must have a valid driving licence.
When towing a vehicle with all four wheels on the ground, always
use an approved towing arm; rope and straps are prohibited.
The towing vehicle must move off gently.
When towing a vehicle with the engine off, there is no longer any
power assistance for braking or steering.
In the following cases, you must always call on a professional
recovery service:
-
vehicle broken down on a motorway or fast road,
-
four-wheel drive vehicle,
-
when it is not possible to put the gearbox into neutral, unlock
the steering, or release the parking brake,
-
towing with only two wheels on the ground,
-
where there is no approved towing arm available...

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

RCZ_en_Chap08_info-pratiques_ed01-2015
TOWING A TRAILER
Towbar suitable for the attachment of a trailer with additional lighting \
and signalling.
We recommend use of the PEUGEOT genuine towbar with ball
which can be removed without tools and its harness that have
been tested and approved from the design stage of your vehicle,
and
that the fitting of the towbar is entrusted to a PEUGEOT
dealer
or a qualified workshop.
If
the trailer is fitted outside the PEUGEOT
dealer network, it must
be
fitted in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
dRIVING Ad VICE
Driving with a trailer subjects the towing vehicle to more significant stress and its driver must be particularly careful.
distribution of loads
F Distribute the load in the trailer so that the heaviest items are as
close as possible to the axle and the nose weight approaches the
maximum permitted without exceeding it.
Air density decreases with altitude, thus reducing engine performance.
Above 1
000 metres, the maximum towing load must be reduced by
10
% and so on for every 1 000 metres of altitude.
Refer to the "Technical data" section for details of the weights and
towing loads which apply to your vehicle version.
Side wind
F Take into account the increased sensitivity to side wind.
Your vehicle is primarily designed for transporting people and luggage,
but it may also be used for towing a trailer. Versions that have asymmetrical twin exhaust tailpipes cannot be
fitted
with
a
towbar.
