. Ifelectrical wiringorother cable

through theseal onthe liftgate or
the body, follow themanufacturer's
recommendation toprevent carbon

. Ifaspecial body,camper orother
equipment isadded forrecreational
or other usage, followthemanufac-

Although thelocal lawsvaryonwhat is
considered tobe legally intoxicated, thefact is
that alcohol affectsallpeople differently and
most people underestimate theeffects of
alcohol.

prescription, andillegal drugs).Don't driveif

off-road vehicle.
Remember thatTwo-Wheel Drive(2WD) mod-
els are less capable thanAll-Wheel Drive
(A WD) models forrough roaddriving and
extrication whenstuckindeep snow,mud, or
the like.
Please observe thefollowing precautions:
WARNING
. Drive carefully whenoffthe road
and avoid dangerous areas.Every
person whodrives orrides inthis
vehicle shouldbeseated withtheir
seat beltfastened. Thiswillkeep
you and your passengers inposition
when driving overrough terrain.
. Do not drive across steepslopes.
Instead driveeither straight upor
straight downtheslopes. Off-road
vehicles cantipover sideways much
more easily thantheycanforward or
backward.
. Many hillsaretoo steep forany
vehicle. Ifyou drive upthem, you
may stall. Ifyou drive down them,
you may notbeable tocontrol your
speed. Ifyou drive across them,you
may rollover.
. Donot shift ranges whiledriving on
downhill gradesasthis could cause
loss ofcontrol ofthe vehicle.
. Stay alert when driving tothe top of
a hill. Atthe top there could bea
drop-off orother hazard thatcould
cause anaccident.

The brake system hastwo separate hydraulic
circuits. Ifone circuit malfunctions, youwillstill
have braking attwo wheels.
Y ou may feelasmall clickandhear asound
when thebrake pedalisfully depressed slowly.
This isnot amalfunction andindicates thatthe
brake assist mechanism isoperating properly.
V acuum assisted brakes

The brake booster aidsbraking byusing engine
vacuum. Ifthe engine stops,youcan stop the
vehicle bydepressing thebrake pedal. However,
greater footpressure onthe brake pedalwillbe
required tostop thevehicle andthestopping
distance willbelonger.
When thebrake pedalisdepressed slowlyand
firmly ,you may hear aclicking noiseandfeela
slight pulsation. Thisisnormal andindicates that
the Brake Assist System isoperating.
Using thebrakes

Avoid resting yourfootonthe brake pedalwhile
driving. Thiswillcause overheating ofthe
brakes, wearing outthebrake padsandshoes
faster andreduce gasmileage.
T o help reduce brakewearandtoprevent the
brakes fromoverheating, reducespeedand
downshift toalower gearbefore goingdownaslope
orlong grade. Overheated brakesmay
reduce braking performance andcould resultin
loss ofvehicle control.
WARNING
. While driving onaslippery surface,
be careful whenbraking, accelerat-
ing ordownshifting. Abruptbraking
or accelerating couldcause the
wheels toskid andresult inan
accident.
. Ifthe engine isnot running oris
turned offwhile driving, thepower
assist forthe brakes willnotwork.

water, thebrakes maygetwet. Asaresult, your
braking distance willbelonger andthevehicle

T o dry brakes, drivethevehicle atasafe speed
while lightly tapping thebrake pedaltoheat-up
the brakes. Dothis until thebrakes returnto
normal. Avoiddriving thevehicle athigh speeds
until thebrakes function correctly.
Parking brakebreak-in

Break inthe parking brakeshoes whenever the
stopping effectofthe parking brakeisweakened

damage yourvehicle. Towing instructions are

and procedures fortowing. To assure proper
towing andtoprevent accidental damageto
your vehicle, NISSAN recommends thatyou
have aservice operator towyour vehicle. Itis
advisable tohave theservice operator carefully
read thefollowing precautions.

. Never rideinavehicle thatisbeing
towed.
. Never getunder yourvehicle afterit
has been lifted byatow truck.

. When towing, makesurethatthe
transmission, axles,steering system
