Y our vehicle isequipped withspecial anchor
points thatareused withLATCH (Lower
Anchors andTethers forCHildren) system
compatible childrestraints. Thissystem may
also bereferred toas the ISOFIX orISOFIX
compatible system.Withthissystem, youdonot
have touse avehicle seatbelttosecure the
child restraint unlessthecombined weightofthe
child andchild restraint exceeds 65lbs (29.5
kg) .If the combined weightofthe child andchild
restraint isgreater than65lbs (29.5 kg),use the
vehicle's seatbelt(not thelower anchors) to
install thechild restraint. Besure tofollow the child
restraint manufacturer's instructionsfor
installation.

. Attach LATCH system compatible
child restraints onlyatthe locations
shown inthe illustration.
. Donot secure achild restraint inthe
center rearseating position using
the LATCH lower anchors. Thechild
restraint willnotbesecured prop-
erly.
. Inspect thelower anchors byinsert-
ing your fingers intothelower
anchor area.Feeltomake sure
there arenoobstructions overthe
anchors suchasseat beltwebbing
or seat cushion material. Thechild
restraint willnotbesecured prop-
erly ifthe lower anchors areob- structed.
Child restraint anchorages arede-
signed towithstand onlythose loads
imposed bycorrectly fittedchildre-
straints. Undernocircumstances are
they tobe used toattach adultseat
belts, orother items orequipment to
the vehicle. Doingsocould damage the
child restraint anchorages. Thechild
restraint willnotbeproperly installed
using thedamaged anchorage, anda
child could beseriously injuredorkilled
in acollision.
