N00529200035
After driving on snow or icy roads, remove any snow and ice which may have been left around the wheels. On vehicles that have an anti-lock braking system, be careful not todamage the wheel speed sensors (A) or the cables located at each wheel.
N00559100121
The active stability control (ASC) takes over- all control of the anti-lock braking system, traction control function and skid control function to help maintain the vehicle’s controland traction. Please read

junction with the pages on the anti-lock brak- ing system, traction control function and skid control function. Anti-lock braking system

CAUTION Do not over-rely on the ASC. Even the ASC cannot prevent the natural laws of physics from acting on the vehicl
e. This system, like
any other system, has limits and cannot help you to maintain traction and control of thevehicle in all circumstances. Reckless driv- ing can lead to accidents. It is the driver’s responsibility to drive carefully. This meanstaking into account the traffic, road and envi- ronmental conditions. Be sure to use the same specified type and size of tire on all four wheels. Otherwise, the ASC may not work properly. Do not install any aftermarket limited-slip differential (LSD) on your vehicle. The ASCmay stop functioning properly.NOTE
An operation noise may be emitted from the engine compartment in the following situa-tions. The sound is associated with checking the operations of the ASC. At this time, you may feel a shock from the brake pedal if youdepress it. These do not indicate a malfunc- tion. • When the ignition switch is set to the “ON” position. • When the vehicle is driven for a while after the engine is turned on.

Tire pressure monitoring system 5-86 Features and controls
5
N00554800110
When the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position, the tire pressure monitoringsystem warning light normally illuminatesand goes off a few seconds later. If one or more of the vehicle tires (except for the spare tire) is significantly under-inflated, the warning light will remain illuminatedwhile the ignition switch is in the “ON” posi- tion. Refer to “If the warning light/display illumi-nates while driving” on page 5-87 and take the necessary measures.
Each tire, including the spare (if provided), should be checked monthly when cold and inflated to the inflation pressure recom-mended by the vehicle manufacturer on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label. (If your vehicle has tires of a different sizethan the size indicated on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label, you should determine the proper tire inflation pressurefor those tires.) As an added safety feature, your vehicle has been equipped with a tire pressure monitoringsystem (TPMS) that illuminates a low tire pressure telltale when one or more of your tires is significantly under-inflated.Accordingly, when the low tire pressure tell-tale illuminates, you should stop and check your tires as soon as possible, and inflate them to the proper pres
sure. Driving on a sig-
nificantly under-inflated tire causes the tire to overheat and can lead to tire failure.
Tire pressure monitoring sys- tem warning light / display
NOTE
In addition, the warning display is displayed on the information screen in the multi-infor- mation display.
CAUTION If the tire pressure monitoring system warn- ing light does not illuminate when the igni- tion switch is turned to the “ON” position, it means that the tire pressure monitoring sys- tem is not working properly. Have the sys-tem inspected by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer. In such situations, a malfunctioning of thesystem may be preventing the monitoring of the tire pressure. Avoid sudden braking, sharp turning and high-speed driving. If a malfunction is detected in the tire pres- sure monitoring system, the tire pressuremonitoring system warning light will blink for approximately 1 minute and then remain continuously illuminated. The warning lightwill issue further warnings each time the engine is restarted as long as the malfunction exists.Check to see whether the warning light goes off after few minutes driving. If it then goes off during driving, there is noproblem. However, if the warning light does not go off, or if it blinks again when the engine isrestarted, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer. In such situations, a malfunctioning of the system may be preventing the monitoring of the tire pressure. For safety reasons, whenthe warning light appears while driving, avoid sudden braking, sharp turning and high-speed driving.
NOTE
In addition, the warning display is displayed on the information screen in the multi-infor- mation display.

Park the vehicle in a safe place, turn off the engine, and take a rest. Use this display as rough guide for taking rests during a long drive. The interval from the start of your trip until this message is displayed can be set.Refer to “Changing the function settings (When
the ignition switch is in the “ON” position)”
on page 5-103. The display and buzzer alert the driver when the
set time is reached. If you continue to drive
without having a rest, the buzzer sounds about
every 5 minutes to encourage you to take a
rest. In the following cases, the time driven is reset and the display returns to the previous dis- play screen. After this, when the set time is reached again, the display and buzzer encourage you to take a rest. • The buzzer sounds 3 times.• The ignition switch is tu
rned to the “OFF” position.
• The multi-information meter switch is
held (for about 2 seconds or more).

This light comes on when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position (engine off). When the engine is started, the light should go off a few seconds later. A warning is also displayed in the multi-information display. The warning light also illuminates after start-ing the engine under the following condi- tions. When the parking brake is still applied. When the brake fluid level is low. When the brake system circuit is not working properly.
Before driving, be sure that the parking brake is fully released and brake warning light isoff.

This indicator is a part of the onboard diag- nostic (OBD) system which monitors the emissions, engine control system or TwinClutch SST control system. If a problem is detected in one of these systems, this indica- tor illuminates or flashes. When the ignitionswitch is turned to the “ON” position, thisindicator normally comes on and goes off after the engine has started. This indicator will come on if the fuel tank filler cap is not properly tightened. If thisindicator comes on and stays on after refuel- ing, stop the engine and check that the cap is properly tightened. (Turn the cap clockwiseuntil you hear clicking sounds.) If this indicator does not go off after several seconds or lights up while driving, have thesystem checked as soon as possible at an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repair facility of your choice.
Warning lights Brake warning light
NOTE
Under conditions such as sporty driving, the brake fluid in the tank may move and the warning light may come on temporarily. If the warning light goes out after a while, there is not a problem with the brake system and the vehicle can be driven normally.
CAUTION If the brake warning light and the Anti-lock braking system warning light are illuminated at the same time, the braking force distribu- tion function will not operate, so the vehicle may be destabilized during sudden brakingunder the following conditions.• When the brake warning light does not goout even when the parking brake is released.• When the brake warning light stays onwhile driving.• If the above occurs, avoid sudden brakingand high-speed driving. Park the vehicle in a safe place, and contact an authorized Mit-subishi Motors dealer or a repair facility of your choice as soon as possible.
The vehicle should be brought to a halt in the following manner when brake performance is deteriorated.• Confirm that the vehicle slows down whenyou press down on the brake pedal harderthan usual. In some cases, the brake pedal may go all the way to the floor.• Should the brakes fail, use engine brakingto reduce your speed and slowly apply the parking brake.Depress the brake pedal to illuminate the stop lights to alert the vehicles behind you.
