Emergency locking retractor (ELR)
The retractor will lock the belt during a sudd en stop or on impact. It may also lock if
you lean forward too quickly. A slow, easy motion will allow the belt to extend so
that you can move around fully. ■
Automatic locking retractor (ALR)
When a passenger’s shoulder belt is comp letely extended and then retracted even
slightly, the belt is locked in that positi on and cannot be extended. This feature is
used to hold the child restra int system (CRS) firmly. To free the belt again, fully
retract the belt and then pull the belt out once more. ( P. 151)■
When the third center seat belt cannot be extended
■
Child seat belt usage
The seat belts of your vehicle were principally designed for persons of adult size. ●
Use a child restraint system appropriate for the child, until the child becomes
large enough to properly wear the vehicle’s seat belt. ( P. 146)●
When the child becomes large enough to properly wear the vehicle’s seat belt,
follow the instructions on P. 91 regarding seat belt usage. Put your fingers between the seat belt and
the holder.
Pull the seat belt forcefully in the direction of
the arrow and then release it to unlock.

In low temperatures, the screen may darken or the image may become faint. The
image could distort when the vehicle is moving, or you may become unable to
see the image on the screen. Be sure to check direct visually and with the mirrors
all around the vehicl e before proceeding.●
If the tire sizes are changed, the position of the guide lines displayed on the
screen may change. ●
The camera uses a special lens. The di stances between objects and pedestrians
that appear in the image displayed on the screen will differ from the actual dis-
tances. ( P. 292)■

When Active TRAC, VSC and Trailer Sway Control are off
Be especially careful and drive at a speed appropriate to the road conditions. As
these are systems to help to ensure vehicle stability and driving force, do not turn off
Active TRAC, VSC and Trailer Sway Control unless necessary. ■
When the VSC and Trailer Sway Control are activated
The slip indicator light flashes. Always drive carefully.
Reckless driving may cause an accident. Exercise particular care when the indica-
tor light flashes. ■
Replacing tires
Make sure that all tires ar e of the same size, brand, tread pattern and total load
capacity. In addition, make sure that the ti res are inflated to the specified tire pres-
sure level.
The Multi Terrain ABS, Active TRAC, VSC and Trailer Sway Control will not func-
tion correctly if different tire s are fitted on the vehicle.
Contact your Lexus dealer for further info rmation when replacin g tires or wheels.■
Handling of tires and suspension
Using tires with any kind of problem or mod ifying the suspension wi ll affect the driv-
ing assist systems, and may ca use the system to malfunction.

When driving
LX570_OM_OM60L96U_(U) CAUTION■
Driving with snow tires
Observe the following precautions to reduce the risk of accidents.
Failing to do so may result in a loss of vehicle control and cause death or serious
injury. ●
Use tires of the size sp ecified for your vehicle.●
Maintain the recommended level of tire inflation pressure. ●
Do not drive in excess of 75 mph (120 km/h ), regardless of the type of snow tires
being used. ●
Snow tires should be in stalled on all wheels.■
Driving with tire chains
Observe the following precautions to reduce the risk of accidents.
Failing to do so may result in the vehicle being unable to be driven safely, and may
cause death or serious injury. ●
Do not drive in excess of the speed limit specified for the tire chains being used or
30 mph (50 km/h), whichever is lower. ●
Avoid driving on bumpy road surfaces or over potholes. ●
Avoid sudden acceleration, abrupt steering, sudden braking and shifting opera-
tions that cause sudden engine braking. ●
Slow down sufficiently before entering a curve to ensure that vehicle control is
maintained.■
When installing tire chains
Turn off the vehicle height control.
The vehicle height may change due to the automatic leveling function and you may
catch part of your body in the vehi cle, resulting in an accident. ( P. 320)

When to replace your vehicle’s tires
Tires should be replaced if: ●
You have tire damage such as cuts, splits, cracks deep enough to expose the
fabric, and bulges indicating internal damage ●
A tire goes flat repeatedly or cannot be properly repaired due to the size or
location of a cut or other damage
If you are not sure, consul t with your Lexus dealer.■
Replacing tires and wheels
If the ID code of the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter is not registered,
the tire pressure warning sy stem will not work properly. After driving for about 20
minutes, the tire pressure warning light come s on after blinking for 1 minute to indi-
cate a system malfunction. ■
When rotating the tires
Make sure that the “ENGINE START STOP” switch is off. If the tires are rotated
while the “ENGINE START STOP” switch is in IGNITION ON mode, the tire posi-
tion information will not be updated.
If this accidentally occurs, either turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch to off
and then to IGNITION ON mode, or initia lize the system afte r checking that the
tire pressure is properly adjusted. ■
Tire life
Any tire over 6 years old mu st be checked by a qualified technician even if it has
seldom or never been used or damage is not obvious. ■
If the tread on snow tires wears down below 0.16 in. (4 mm)
The effectiveness of the tire s as snow tires is lost.

LX570_OM_OM60L96U_(U) ■
Maximum load of tire
Check that the number given by dividing the maximum load by 1.10 of the replace-
ment tire is greater than 1/2 of the Gr oss Axle Weight Ratings (GAWR) of either
the front axle or the rear axle, whichever is greater.
■
Tire types
1 Summer tires
Summer tires are high-speed performance tires best suited to highway driving
under dry conditions. Since summer tires do not have the same traction perfor-
mance as snow tires, summer tires are inadequate for driving on snow-covered
or icy roads. For driving on snow-cover ed roads or icy roads, the use of snow
tires is recommended. When inst alling snow tires, be sure to replace all four tires.
2 All season tires
All season tires are designed to provide better traction in snow and to be ade-
quate for driving in most winter conditions, as well as for use year round. All sea-
son tires, however, do not have adequa te traction performance compared with
snow tires in heavy or loose snow. Also, all season tires fall short in acceleration
and handling performance compared with summer tires in highway driving.
3Snow tires
For driving on snow-covered roads or icy roads, we recommend using snow
tires. If you need snow tires, select ti res of the same size, construction and load
capacity as the originally installed tires. Si nce your vehicle has radial tires as orig-
inal equipment, make sure your snow tire s also have radial construction. Do not
install studded tires without first checking local regulations for possible restric-
tion. Snow tires should be installed on all wheels. ( P. 376)For the GAWR, see the Certification Label.
For the maximum load of the tire, see the load
limit at maximum cold tire inflation pressure
mentioned on the sidewall of the tire.

Maintenance and care
LX570_OM_OM60L96U_(U) Wheels If a wheel is bent, cracked or heavil y corroded, it should be replaced.
Otherwise, the tire may separate from the wheel or cause loss of handling
control.
■ Wheel selection
When replacing wheels, care shoul d be taken to ensure that they
are equivalent to those removed in load capacity, diameter, rim
width, and inset
* .
Replacement wheels are available at your Lexus dealer.
* : Conventionally referr ed to as “offset”.
Lexus does not recommend using:
● Wheels of different sizes or types
● Used wheels
● Bent wheels that have been straightened
■ Aluminum wheel precautions
● Use only Lexus wheel nuts and wrenches designed for use with
your aluminum wheels.
● When rotating, repairing or chan ging your tires, check that the
wheel nuts are still tight after driving 1000 miles (1600 km).
● Be careful not to damage the aluminum wheels when using tire
chains.
● Use only Lexus genuine balanc e weights or equivalent and a
plastic or rubber hammer when balancing your wheels.

LX570_OM_OM60L96U_(U) ■
When replacing wheels
The wheels of your Lexus are equipped with tire pressure warning valves and trans-
mitters that allow the tire pressure warning system to provide advanced warning in
the event of a loss in tire inflation pressure. Whenever wheels are replaced, the tire
pressure warning valves and tran smitters must be installed. ( P. 767)
CAUTION■
When replacing wheels ●
Do not use wheels that are a different size from those recommended in the
Owner’s Manual, as this may result in loss of handling control.●
Never use an inner tube in a leaking wheel which is designed for a tubeless tire.
Doing so may result in an accident , causing death or serious injury.■
Use of defective wheels prohibited
Do not use cracked or deformed wheels.
Doing so could cause the tire to leak air during driving, possibly causing an acci-
dent.
NOTICE■
Replacing tire pressure warning valves and transmitters ●
Because tire repair or re placement may affect the tire pressure warning valves
and transmitters, make sure to have tires serviced by your Le xus dealer or other
qualified service shop. In addition, make sure to purchase your tire pressure
warning valves and transmitte rs at your Lexus dealer.●
Ensure that only genuine Lexus wheels are used on your vehicle.
Tire pressure warning valv es and transmitters may not work properly with non-
genuine wheels.
