Your choice of an ST product is anintelligent and informed one. We strive tobuild engaging vehicles that involve thedriver in every aspect of the drivingexperience. Although performance is atthe heart of every ST vehicle, we go muchfurther. PRODUCT HISTORY
The Ford Special Vehicle Team (SVT) wasestablished in 1991 to polish the Ford Ovalby creating low-volume, factory-producedvehicles designed for those select fewwhose idea of driving is a high-powered,passionate experience – not just a meansof getting from point A to point B.
In a move to support this spiritedenthusiasm, Ford Motor Company carefullyintegrated the wide array of talent in thecompany into a small, cross-functionalgroup of engineers and product planners,housed together under one roof with acommon mission: to create vehiclesspecifically designed to meet the uniqueneeds and desires of the knowledgeabledriving enthusiast.
More than 200000 SVT vehicles havebeen produced since the 1993 model year.These include the SVT Mustang Cobra andthe Cobra R, the SVT F-150 Lightning, theSVT Contour, the SVT Focus, Ford GT,Shelby GT500, GT500KR and the F-150SVT Raptor.
TEAM RS HISTORY
TeamRS traces its roots back nearly 60years from the Lotus Ford Cortina and TwinCam Escorts of the mid 1960s, through thefirst RS branded Escorts of the 1970s tothe founding of Special Vehicle Engineering(SVE) in 1980. Through the 1980s and'90s, SVE delivered a breadth of vehiclesfrom exciting XR and RS branded roadgoing performance cars throughhomologation specials such as the iconicSierra Cosworth RS500. The first ST(Sport Technology) vehicle appeared in1996 as the ST24 Mondeo. The firstcollaboration between Ford’s Europeanand North American performance teamsappeared in 2002 as the ST170 in Europeand SVT Focus in North America. In 2003,TeamRS replaced SVE in Europe asperformance car and motorsport personnelwere brought together as one team.TeamRS subsequently created the 2004Fiesta ST, 2005 Focus ST and 2009 FocusRS.
GLOBAL PERFORMANCEVEHICLES
The Global Performance Vehicle groupwas formally established in 2009, joiningthe performance product developmentexcellence and heritage of SVT in NorthAmerica and TeamRS in Europe. The FocusST is the first vehicle to emerge from thisgroup and represents the best of what Fordperformance has to offer from around theglobe. Your Focus ST has been designedand developed with the four hallmarks ofthe Ford Global Performance Group inmind: Performance, Substance, Exclusivityand Value.
