The cigarette lighter only works when the ig­
nition is sw itched on. Incorrect usage can lead
to ser ious injuries or burns. For this reason,
children should never be left unattended in
the vehicle because this increases the risk of
injury.

The ciga rette lighter can be damaged if you
connect electrical accessories to it .
Storing
General overview
_& WARNING
- Always remove objects from the instrument
panel. Any items not put away could slide
around inside the vehicle while dr iv ing or
when accelerating or when applying the brakes or when dr iv ing aro und a corner .
- When you a re driv ing make sure that a ny­
thing yo u may have placed in the ce nter con­
so le or ot her storage locations can not fall
o ut into the footwells. In case of sudden

braking you would not be ab le to brake, de­
press the clutch or accelerate.
- Any pieces of clothing that you have hung
up must not interfere with the driver's view .
The coat hooks are designed only for light­
weigh t clothing. Never hang any cloth ing
w ith ha rd, pointed or heavy objects in the
pockets on the coat hooks. During sudden
braking or in an accident -espec ially if the
airbag is deployed -these objects cou ld in­
jure any p assengers inside the vehicle.

Closing cupholders
• To close the cupholder, press on the center sec­
tion between the two arms and push the cu­
pholder in the slot as far as it will go.
.&_ WARNING
Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident and
personal injury.
- Never carry any beverage containers with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea, in
the vehicle while it is moving. In case of an
accident, sudden braking or other vehicle
movement, hot liquid could spill, causing
scalding burns . Spil led hot liquid can also
cause an accident and personal injury.
- Use only soft cups in the cupholder. Hard
cups and glasses can cause injury in an acci­
dent .
- Never use the cupholder or adapter as an
ashtray - risk of fire.
(y Note
Only drink containers with lids should be car­
r ied in the cupholder . Liquid could spill out
and damage your vehicle's electronic equip­
ment or stain the upholstery, etc.
Glove compartment
The glove compartment is illuminated and can
be locked .

• To open the glove compartment, pull the han­
dle in the direction of the arrow~

swing the cover down to open .

• To close the glove compartment, push the
glove compartment lid upward until the lock
engages .
The glove compartment can be locked using the
mechanical key
~ page 33 .
On the right side in the glove compartment is a
holder with the key body into which the emergen­
cy key must be clipped to be able to start the ve­
hicle.
A WARNING
-
To reduce the risk of personal injury in an acci-
dent or sudden stop, always keep the glove
compartment closed while driving.
Additional storage
There are a variety of storage compartments and
fasteners in various places in the vehicle .
- In the roof headliner above the rearview mirror.
- On the back of the front seat . The compart -
ment can hold a maximum weight of 1 kg.
- On the left and right of the luggage compart­
ment, behind the side trim .
- Garment hooks on the pillars in the rear of the
vehicle.
A WARNING ,..___
- When driving, do not leave any hard objects
on the rear window shelf or allow your pet
to sit on the shelf. They could become a haz­
ard for vehicle occupants in the event of
sudden braking or a crash .
- Always remove objects from the instrument
panel. Any items not stored could slide
around inside the vehicle whi le driving or
when accelerating or when apply ing the
b rakes or when driving around a corner.
- When you are driving make sure that any­
thing you may have placed in the center con­
sole or other storage locations cannot fall
out into the footwells. In case of sudden
braking you would not be able to brake or
accelerate.
- Any articles of clothing that you have hung
up must not interfere with the driver's view .

weight clot hing . Do not leave any heavy o r
sharp edged objects in the pockets which may in terfere with the side curtain airbag
deployment and can cause personal injury in
a cras h.
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging cloth­
ing on the coat hooks as this can interfere
with proper deployment of the side c urtain
airbags in an accident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they could cause personal injury in
a sudden stop.
- Always keep the compartment above the
rearview mirror closed while dr iving to re­
duce the r isk of injury in the event of sudden
braking maneuvers or a collision .

Objects located on the rear shelf that rub
against the rear window could damage the
heating wires for the rear window defogger.
(D Tips
- A vent slot is located between the shelf and
the rear window. Do not b lock the
vent with
any items you may place on the rear window
shelf.
- Do not place bulky items on the rear w indow
shelf as they could restrict or b lock the driv­
er 's vision in the rear view m irror.

Roof rack
Description and mounting locations
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof lug­
gage rack .

.. Always read and follow the instructions provid­
ed by the roof rack manufacturer when instal ­
ling the roof rack system .
If luggage or cargo is to be carr ied on the roof,
you must observe the following:
- Onl y use roof racks approved for your vehicle .
T hese approved roof racks are the bas is for a
comp le te roof rack system . Addi tional attach­
ments or carrier systems are needed to trans­
port luggage and sports equipment. We recom­
mend using roof racks from the Aud i origina l
accessories program.
- When installing the roof rack, make sure it is
only mounted on the designated locations on
the roof

- We recommend that you keep the installation
instructions for your roof rack system together
w ith your Owner 's litera ture in the vehicle.
When should the roof rack be r em oved?
- Before going through an automatic car wash (it
is best to ask the car wash operator for advice).
- When not in use, to reduce fue l consumption,
wind noise and to guard against theft .
A WARNING
-Use of an unapproved roof rack or incorrect
mounting of an approved roof rack can
cause the roof rack or the items attached to
it to fall off the roof onto the road .

A WARNING
- The backrest must always be secure ly latc h­
ed so that the safety belt of the center seat­
ing position can work proper ly to help pro­
tect the occupant.
- The backrest must be securely latched in po­
sition so that no items contained in the lug­
gage compartment can slide forward upon
sudden b rak ing .
- Always check whether the latch is fully en­
gaged by pu lli ng the seatback forward .
- Never a llow safety belts to become dam­
aged by be ing caught i n door or seat hard­
ware.
- Torn or frayed safety be lts can tear and
damaged be lt hardwa re can b reak in a crash .
I nspect the belts periodically. Belts show ing
damage to webbing, bindings, buckles, or
retractors must be re placed.
(D Note
- If you move the front seat back when the
rear seat backrest is folded forward, you
cou ld damage the head res traints on the
rear se at.
- Slide the be lt g uide on the o utside safety
belt all t he way up befo re folding the back­
res t back forw ard. Make sure t he se at belt is
no t pin ched or damaged when the rear seat
backrest if folded back. Other objects
should be removed from the rear seat bench
to protect the seatback from damage.

secure items to tie-downs can fail duri ng ha rd
braking o r in a coll is ion and cause serious per­
sona l injury .
-Always use su itable reta ining straps and
properly secu re items to the tie-downs in
the luggage compa rtment to he lp prevent
items from sh ifting or flying forward.
- Never attach a ch ild s eat tether strap to a
tie-dow n.
- For strength-re lated reasons, the mou nti ng
hooks can only be used to secure objects
weighing up to 10 lb. (5 kg). Heav ier objec ts
will no t be adequately secure d -there is a
ris k of injury.
Ski sack
Applies to vehicles: with ski sack
Long objects such as skis or snowboards can be
transported in the ski sack.

A WARNING
-The ski sack is intended only for the trans­
portation of skis and other light objects. To
reduce the risk of serious personal injury,
never transport heavy or pointed objects in
the ski sack.
- When braking rapidly or during an accident,
the load could be displaced and cause injury to occupants.
- Sharp edges on the load must be covered
for protection. Always fasten the belt tightly
around the sack and its contents~

-For safety reasons, do not transport more
than two pairs of skis in the ski sack.
- You must secure the ski sack with the strap
after loading.
- Make sure that all objects you are transport­
ing in the pass-through are secured. Other­
wise they could slide around during sudden
braking maneuvers and cause injuries.

- Never stow the ski sack away when it is still
wet or damp (for example, snow melting
from skis). Allow it to dry completely before
stowing it away.
- When transporting skis or snowboards,
tighten the securing strap between the
bindings.
- Position skis in the ski sack with the pointed
ends facing the front and ski poles with the
pointed ends facing the rear.
- You can lock or unlock the pass-through us­
ing the mechanical key. This prevents any
access to the luggage compartment from
the vehicle interior.
Parcel shelf
The parcel shelf behind the rear seatback can be
used to carry light items of clothing.
A WARNING
No heavy or hard objects should be placed on
the parcel shelf. They are a hazard to the vehi­
cle occupants during sudden braking. The is a risk of injury.

set tings are applied to both the d river and front
passenger, except fo r the seat heating/vent ila­
t ion* . Synchronization switches off when you ad­
just the settings on the front passenger's side .

Supplementary he ater
The supplementary heater warms the inter ior of
vehicles w ith flexible fuel engines more quickly.
The supplementa ry heater is cont rolled automat­
