Service interval display
The service interval display detects when your
v e hicle is due for service .

The serv ice interva l display works in two
stages:
- Inspection or oil change reminder : After a
certain distance driven, a message appears
i n t he instr ument cluster d isp lay each time
the ignit ion is switched on or off

The remaining distance or t ime is d isplayed
briefly.
- Inspect ion or oil change due : If your vehicle
is due for a n insp ection or o il change or
bot h, a message appears br iefly in the in ­
strument cluster d isplay when switching the
ignition o n or off:

Checking service intervals
You can check the remaining distance or time

Resetting the display

fuel sup ply sys tem .
More force is needed to steer and brake t he
moving veh icle when the eng ine is stopped . If
t h e ve hicle is rolli ng, try to stop i t caref ully on
the side of the ro ad away fro m moving t raffi c.

A WARNING
If th e engine stops w hile driving, you will
need to use mo re fo rce to brake the vehi ­
cle. T his increases the r isk of an accident .
There w ill still be power steer ing i f th e ig­
n it ion is switched on while t he ve hicle is
rolling and there is sufficie nt battery
cha rge . Ot herwise, you must use greater
fo rce when steer ing.

(ESC) and(@)) anti-lock braking system
(ABS)
If the DJ ind icator light blinks while driving,
the ESP or ASR (anti-slip regulation) is active ly
regulating.
If the
DJ ind icator light tu rns on, the system
has switc hed the ESC off . In t his case, yo u can
switch the ign ition off and then on to switch
the ESC on aga in. The ind icator lig ht tu rns off
whe n the system is fu nctioni ng fu lly.
Stabilization control (ESC): sport . Warning!
Restricted stability
If the B ind icator light tu rns on, ES C sport
mode was switched on using the

-The central locking switch is inoperative
when the vehicle is locked from the out­
side .
- Locked doors make it more difficult for
emergency workers to get into the vehi­
cle, which puts lives at risk . Do not leave
anyone beh ind in the vehicle, especially
children.

Your vehicle will lock automatically at a
speed of 9 mph (15 km/h) ¢

can unlock the vehicle again using the cen ­
tral locking opening function .
Setting central locking

Various settings can be adjusted in the MMI:
Adjusting door unlocking
You can determine which doors should unlock
when opening the vehicle .

control button > Vehicle settings > Central
locking > Door unlocking.
Selecting All and pressing the~ button on
the remote control key unlocks the entire ve­
hicle.
If you select
Driver and then press the~ but ­
ton on the remote control key, only the driv­
er's door will unlock. In vehicles with a con ­
venience key, only the front door whose han­
dle you pull will unlock. If you press the
~ button twice, the entire vehicle will unlock.
If you press the
l@l button, the entire vehicle
will always lock .
Adjusting Auto Lock

when driving .
l) Thi s func tion is not available in all co untries.
If you se lect On , the entire vehicle wi ll lock
automatica lly when the speed reaches 9 mph
(15 km/h).
If the opening function is triggered by the
power lock ing system or a door hand le, the
vehicle unlocks again.

Tone when locking

When checked off../, a tone will sound when
you lock the vehicle .
If you press the l@l button twice , the entire ve­
hicle will lock . There is a lock ing tone at the

Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer prevents unauthorized use of
your vehicle .
A microchip in the key automatically deacti­
vates the electronic immobilizer when the key
is located in the vehicle . If you remove the key
from the vehicle, the electronic immobilizer
activates again automatically.
_&. WARNING
A lways take the key with you whenever you
l eave your vehicle. The e lectronic immobil-
izer can be deactivated with the key, so

-After clos ing the luggage compartment
lid, make sure that it is latched. Other­
wise the luggage compartment lid could sudden ly open when driving, which in­
creases the risk of an accident.
- Never drive with the luggage compart­
ment lid ajar or open, because poisonous
gases can enter the vehicle interior and
create the r isk of asphyx iation. -
Never leave your vehicle unattended
when the luggage compartment lid is
open. A child could climb into the vehicle
through the luggage compartment. If
the luggage compartment lid was then closed, the child would be trapped in the
veh icle and unable to escape. To reduce
the risk of injury, do not allow children to
p la y in o r aro und the vehicle. Always
keep the luggage compartment lid and
the doors closed when the vehicle is not
in use.
- Always make sure no one is in the lug­
gage compartment lid's range of motion
when it is closing, especia lly near the
h inges. Fingers or hands could be
p inched.
{!) Tips
- When the vehicle is locked; the luggage
compartment lid can be unlocked sepa­
rately by pressing the~ button on the
remote control key. When the luggage
compartment lid is closed again, it locks
automatically.
- The luggage compartment lid can be
opened using the emergency release if
the hand le is faulty~
page 261.

The headlights only work when the ignition is
switched on. The headlights turn off automat­ ically when the engine is switched on or when
the ignition is switched off. Only the side­ marker lights stay on .
A warning symbol will appear in the driver in­
formation display if the system is not func­
tioning correctly <=>

Turn the switch¢ fig. 42 to the corresponding
position . When the lights are switched on, the
respective symbol turns on.

running lights* are turned on and off together

on the amount of light (may vary depending
on the country).

In vehicles with all-weather lights, the front
lights are adjusted automatically so that you
are less likely to see glare from your own
headlights, for example when driving on a wet
road .
Headlight range control system
The head light range adjusts automatically
when there is a change in vehicle load and
during braking and accelerating so that the
headlights do not cause glare for oncoming
traff ic.

Audi adapt ive light *
The adaptive light on ly functions when the
light switch is in the AU TO position. You can
deactivate adaptive light in the MMI

When switched on, adapt ive light adjusts to
curves depending on the vehicle speed and
steering wheel ang le . This provides better
lighting throug h the curve . The system oper ­
ates in a speed r ange from approximately
6 mph (10 km/h) to 68 mph (110 km/h).
Static co rnering light* (vehicles with adaptive
light) -the corn ering light switches on auto­
matica lly when the steering wheel is turned at
a certa in angle at speeds up to approximately
44 mph (70 km/h) and when the turn signal is
activated at speeds up to approximately
25 mph (40 km/h). The area to the s ide of the
vehicle is il luminated better when turning .
Speed dependent light distr ibution* -The
speed dependent light distribution adapts the
light in towns and on highways or express­
ways. Intersect ions can also be ill uminated on
ve hicl es w ith a navigation system *.
Highwa y light funct ion *
(Vehicles with adaptive light or L ED head ­
lights) -This function adapts the light ing for
h ighway driving based on vehicle speed .
_&. WARNING
-Automati c headlights* are only intended
to assist the dr iver . T hey do not re lieve
the drive r of responsibility to check the
head lights and to turn them on man ually
according to the current light and visibili­
ty conditions. For examp le, fog cannot
be detected by the light sensors. So al­
ways switch on the low beam under
these weather conditions and when driv­ ing in the dark
fD.
- Acc idents could occur if you cannot see
the road ahead of you well and if others
on the road cannot see you . A lways
swit ch you r headlights o n so that yo u can see the road ahead of you and others can
see your vehicle from beh
ind.
- Please observe legal regulations when
using the lighting systems described.
(D Note
The rear fog lights shou ld only be turned
on in accordance with t raffic regu lations,
to prevent glare for traffic behind your ve­ hicle.
(D Tips
- The light sensor for the automatic head ­
lights * is in the rea rview mir ror mount.
Therefore, do not place any stickers in
this area o n the windshield .
- Some functions of the exterior lighting
can be adjusted

-If you tu rn off the ignition whi le the ex­
terior lights are on and open the door,
you will hear a warning tone.
- The tail lights do not sw itch on when the
daytime r unning lights switch on.
- In cool or damp weather, the inside of
the headlights, turn signals and tail
lights can fog over due to the tempera­
ture difference between the inside and
outside. They w ill clear shortly after
switching them on . This does not affect
the serv ice life of the lighting.
- A message w ill appea r in the i nstrument
cluster if there is a malfunction in the
light senso r

The emergency flashers makes other drivers
aware of your vehicle in dangerous situations.
.,. Press the~ button to sw itch the emergency
f lashers on or off.
You can indicate a lane change or a turn when
the eme rgency flashers are sw itched on by us­
i ng the turn signa l lever. The emergency flash­
ers stop temporarily .
The emergency flashers also work when the ignit io n is tu rned off.

You should switch the emergency flashers
on if:
- You are the last ca r in a traffic jam so
that all other veh icles approach ing from
behind can see you, or if
- Your vehicle has broken down or you are
having an emergency, or if
- Your vehicle is being towed or if you are
tow ing another vehicle .
Turn signal and high beam lever
The lever operates the turn signals, the high
beams and the headlight flasher.

The turn s ignals activate when you move the
l ever into a turn s ignal position when the igni­
tion is switched on.

the lever (convenience turn signal).

A WARNING
High beams can cause glare for other driv­
ers, which increases the risk of an acci­
dent. For this reason, on ly use the high
beams or the headlight flasher when they
will not create glare for other drivers.
