You will find helpful hints in this manual on how to perform most of the checks listed on the following pages. If in doubt, have these checks performed by your authorized Porsche dealer.
Before driving off…
Check the following items first
fTurn the engine off before you attempt any checks or repairs on the vehicle.fBe sure the tires are inflated correctly. Check tires for damage and tire wear.fSee that wheel bolts are properly tightened and not loose or missing.fCheck engine oil level, add if necessary. Make it a habit to check the engine oil with every refueling.fCheck all fluid levels such as windshield washer and brake fluid levels.
fBe sure the vehicle battery is well charged and cranks the engine properly.fCheck all doors and lids for proper operation and latch them properly.fCheck and if necessary replace worn or cracked wiper blades.fSee that all windows are clear and unobstructed.fCheck air intake slots and area between luggage compartment lid and windshield. Ensure that these areas are free of snow and ice, so the heater and the windshield wipers work properly.fIf a child will be riding in the vehicle, check child seat/child seat restraint system to ensure that restraints are properly adjusted.fCheck all exterior and interior lights for operation and that the lenses are clean.fCheck the headlights for proper aim, and if necessary, have them adjusted.fCheck under the vehicle for leaks.fBe sure all luggage is stowed securely.
Emergency equipment
It is good practice to carry emergency equipment in your vehicle. Some of the items you should have are: window scraper, snow brush, container or bag of sand or salt, emergency light, small shovel, first-aid kit, etc.
In the driver’s seat…
fCheck operation of the horn.fPosition seat for easy reach of foot pedals and controls. To reduce the possibility of injury from the air bag deployment, you should always sit back as far from the steering wheel as is practical, while still maintaining full vehicle control.fAdjust the inside and outside rear view mirrors.fBuckle your safety belts.fCheck operation of the foot and electric parking brake.fCheck all warning and indicator lights with ignition on and engine not running.fStart engine and check all warning displays for warning symbols.fNever leave an idling car unattended.fLock doors from inside, especially with children in the car to prevent inadvertent opening of doors from inside or outside.Drive with doors locked.

Seat Adjustment and Head
Restraints
Safety belts only offer protection when the backrest is upright and the belts are properly positioned on the body.Improperly positioned safety belts or safety belts worn by passengers in an excessively reclined position can cause serious personal injury or death in an accident.fDo not operate the car with the driver or passenger backrests excessively reclined.fPlease see the chapter “SEAT POSITION” on page 32.
The seat may move further than desired if you adjust it when driving. You could lose control of the vehicle.fDo not adjust seats while the vehicle is in mo-tion.The backrest locks must be engaged at all times while the vehicle is in motion.
If persons or animals are in the movement range of the seat during seat adjustment, parts of the body could get trapped or crushed.fAdjust the seat so that no-one is put a risk.fDo not activate the comfort memory button if there is any risk of the seat crushing the occupant.fCancel automatic adjustment by pressing any of the seat adjustment buttons.
fDo not leave children in the vehicle unattended, since they may depress the setting buttons and crush themselves or another occupant.
Risk of damage to windshield, sun visor, etc. when the seat is adjusted or folded back or forward.fAdjust the seat so that the seat backrest is not in contact with any other object.
The driver and front passenger seats provide integrated head restraints in the backrests. The head restraints are not adjustable. The rear seats do not provide head restraints.
All occupants, including the driver, should not operate a vehicle or sit in a vehicle’s seat until the headrests and backrests are placed in their proper positions so that the risk of neck injuries is minimized in the event of a crash.fAdjust the backrest's inclination such that the headrest is in an upright position.fDriver and passengers should be seated upright and in the center of their seats.
Front Seats
Seat position
A ergonomically correct sitting position is important for safe and fatigue-free driving. We recommend the following procedure for adjusting the driver’s seat to suit individual requirements: 1. Adjust the seat height to give yourself enough headroom and a good overview of the vehicle.2. Adjust the seat in fore-and-aft direction so that your leg is not fully straight and your entire foot is on the pedal when pressing the pedals fully.3. Grip the top half of the steering wheel. Set the backrest angle and the steering wheel position so that your arms are almost outstretched. However, your shoulders must still rest on the backrest.4. Adjust the seat fore-and-aft setting if necessary.

Seat backrest
Folding forward
fPull up lever in the side part of the backrest and fold the backrest forward.
Folding back
fTilt back and engage the backrest so that it cannot tip forward when you brake.
Storing seat settings
For information on storing and retrieving the seat settings: fPlease see the chapter “STORING PERSONAL SETTINGS” on page 143.
Comfort Entry Function
The Easy Entry function makes it easier for you to get in and out of the vehicle.
If persons or animals are within the range of movement of the seat, they could be trapped or crushed when the seat moves into or out of easy entry position.fSwitch off the Easy Entry function if a person is behind the driver’s seat.
Prerequisite
– The function must be activated on the multi- function display.

Leaving the vehicle
The steering wheel moves upwards: – After the ignition key is removed or after the ignition is switched off and the driver’s door is opened on vehicles with Porsche Entry & Drive.
The driver’s seat moves to the rear: – After opening the driver's door and removing the car key or after opening the driver's door on vehicles with Porsche Entry & Drive.
Entering the vehicle
Driver’s seat and steering wheel are in their Comfort Entry positions.
Once the ignition key is inserted or once the ignition is switched on in the case of vehicles with Porsche Entry & Drive, the seat and steering wheel move to the stored position.
Information
When the key is changed, the seat may move to its new, key-specific entry position.
Information
Manual intervention in the seat setting interrupts the Easy Entry function.The driving position must then be set manually.
