A WORD ABOUT YOUR
KEYS
Your vehicle uses a keyless ignition
system. This system consists of a Key
Fob with Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) transmitter and a Keyless Ig-
nition Node (KIN).
Keyless Enter-N-Go™ Feature
This vehicle is equipped with the Key-
less Enter-N-Go™ feature, (refer to
"Keyless Enter-N-Go™" in "Things
To Know Before Starting Your Ve-
hicle" for further information).
KEYLESS IGNITION NODE
(KIN)
This feature allows the driver to oper-
ate the ignition switch with the push
of a button, as long as the Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter is in
the passenger compartment.
The Keyless Ignition Node (KIN) has
four operating positions, three of
which are labeled and will illuminate
when in position. The three positionsare LOCK/OFF, ACC, and ON/RUN.
The fourth position is START. During
start RUN will illuminate.
NOTE: In case the ignition switch
does not change with the push of a
button, the RKE transmitter (Key
Fob) may have a low or dead bat-
tery. In this situation a back up
method can be used to operate the
ignition switch. Put the nose side
(side opposite of the emergency
key) of the Key Fob against the
ENGINE START/STOP button and
push to operate the ignition
switch.
KEY FOB
The Key Fob also contains the Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter and
an emergency key, which stores in the
rear of the Key Fob.
The emergency key allows for entry
into the vehicle should the battery in
the vehicle or the Key Fob go dead.
The emergency key is also for locking
the glove box. You can keep the emer-
gency key with you when valet park-
ing.
To remove the emergency key, slide
the mechanical latch on the back of
the Key Fob sideways with your
thumb and then pull the key out with
your other hand.

To protect the battery, the interior
lights will turn off automatically 10
minutes after the ignition switch is
moved to the LOCK position. This
will occur if the interior lights were
switched on manually or are on be-
cause a door is open. This includes the
glove box light, but not the trunk
light. To restore interior light opera-
tion, either turn the ignition switch
ON or cycle the light switch.
Dimmer Controls
The dimmer control is part of the
headlight switch and is located on the
left side of the instrument panel.
With the parking lights or headlights
on, rotating the left dimmer controlupward will increase the brightness of
the instrument panel lights and
lighted cupholders.
Ambient Light Control
Rotate the right dimmer control up-
ward or downward to increase or de-
crease the brightness of the door
handle lights and ambient light lo-
cated in the overhead console.
Dome Light Position
Rotate the left dimmer control com-
pletely upward to the second detent to
turn on the interior lights. The inte-
rior lights will remain on when the
dimmer control is in this position.
Interior Light Defeat (OFF)
Rotate the left dimmer control to the
extreme bottom OFF position. The
interior lights will remain off when
the doors are open.
Parade Mode (Daytime Brightness
Feature)
Rotate the left dimmer control up-
ward to the first detent. This feature
brightens all text displays such as the
odometer, EVIC (for versions/
markets, where provided), and radio
when the parking lights or headlights
are on.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS
AND WASHERS
The multifunction lever operates the
windshield wipers and washer when
the ignition is placed in the ON/RUN

REAR SEAT CUPHOLDERS
The rear seat cupholders are located
in the center armrest between the rear
seats. The cupholders are positioned
forward in the armrest and side-by-
side to provide convenient access to
beverage cans or bottles while main-
taining a resting place for the rear
occupant's elbows.
Lighted Cupholders
On some vehicles the rear cupholders
are equipped with a light ring that
illuminates the cupholders for the
rear passengers. The light ring is con-
trolled by the Dimmer Control. Refer
to “Lights” in “Understanding The
Features Of Your Vehicle” for further
information.
STORAGE
GLOVEBOX STORAGE
The glovebox storage compartment is
located on the passenger side of the
instrument panel.
CONSOLE FEATURES
There is a cubby bin located forward of
the shift lever. The cubby bin is cov-
ered with a push-push actuated door.
Push inward on the door to open it,
push the door a second time to close it.
Two separate storage compartments
are also located underneath the center

VEHICLE STORAGE
If you are leaving your vehicle dor-
mant for more than 21 days, you may
want to take these steps to protect
your battery.
1. Disconnect the negative cable
from the battery.NOTE: When the negative cable
is disconnected from the battery,
and the trunk lid is completely
closed, it is necessary to pull the
emergency release lever of the
trunk latching mechanism to open
it again. To access the trunk and
operate the lever, fold the rear
seatbacks. Please refer to “FOLD-
ING REAR SEAT” in “UNDER-
STANDING THE FEATURES OF
YOUR VEHICLE” and "TRUNK
EMERGENCY RELEASE” in
“THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE
STARTING YOUR VEHICLE” for
further information.
2. Anytime you store your vehicle, or
keep it out of service (i.e., vacation)
for two weeks or more, run the air
conditioning system at idle for about
five minutes in the fresh air and high
blower setting. This will ensure ad-
equate system lubrication to minimizethe possibility of compressor damage
when the system is started again.
