CONTROLS AT A GLANCE
9
100 to 300 miles (161 to 483 km):
• Depress the accelerator pedal slowly and not more than halfway to avoid rapid
acceleration in lower gears (1st to 3rd gears).
• Avoid aggressive braking.
• Drive with the engine speed less than 5,000 RPM.
• Maintain vehicle speed below 70 mph (112 km/h) and observe local speed limits.
300 to 500 miles (483 to 805 km):
• Exercise the full engine rpm range, shifting manually (paddles or gear shift) at
higher rpms when possible.
• Do not perform sustained operation with the accelerator pedal at wide open
throttle.
• Maintain vehicle speed below 85 mph (136 km/h) and observe local speed limits.
For the first 1500 mi (2414 km):
• Do not participate in track events, sport driving schools, or similar activities during
the first 1500 mi (2414 km).
NOTE:
Check engine oil with every refueling and add if necessary. Oil and fuel consumption
may be higher through the first oil change interval.
HEADLIGHT SWITCH
Automatic Headlights/Parking
Lights/Headlights
• Rotate the headlight switch, located
on the instrument panel to the left of
the steering wheel, to the first detent
for parking lights
and to the
second detent for headlights
.
• With the parking lights or low beam
headlights on, push the headlight
switch once for fog lights.
• Rotate the headlight switch to “A” for
AUTO headlights.
When set to “A” (AUTO), the system
automatically turns the headlights on or
off based on ambient light levels.
OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE
29
SYNC Temperature Soft-Key
• Touch the “SYNC” soft-key on the Uconnect®radio to control the driver and
passenger temperatures simultaneously. Touch the “SYNC” soft-key a second time
to control the temperatures individually.
Air Recirculation
• Use Recirculation for maximum A/C operation.
• For window defogging, turn the recirculation button off.
• If the recirculation button is pushed while in the AUTO mode, the indicator light
may flash three times to indicate the cabin air is being controlled automatically.
Heated Mirrors
The mirrors are heated to melt frost or ice. This feature is activated whenever you turn
on the rear window defroster.
PARKSENSE® FRONT AND REAR PARK ASSIST
ParkSense®can be enabled and disabled by pressing the ParkSense®switch located
below the climate controls, on the switch panel.
The four ParkSense
®sensors, located in the rear fascia/bumper, monitor the area
behind the vehicle that is within the sensors’ field of view. The sensors can detect
obstacles from approximately 12 in (30 cm) up to 79 in (200 cm) from the rear
fascia/bumper in the horizontal direction, depending on the location, type and
orientation of the obstacle.
The six ParkSense
®sensors, located in the front fascia/bumper, monitor the area in
front of the vehicle that is within the sensors’ field of view. The sensors can detect
obstacles from approximately 12 in (30 cm) up to 47 in (120 cm) from the front
fascia/bumper in the horizontal direction, depending on the location, type and
orientation of the obstacle.
When an object is detected within 6.5 ft (2 m) behind the rear bumper while the
vehicle is in REVERSE, a warning will display in the Electronic Vehicle Information
Center (EVIC) and a chime will sound (when Sound and Display is selected from the
Customer Programmable Features section of the Uconnect
®System screen). As the
vehicle moves closer to the object, the chime rate will change from single 1/2 second
tone (for rear only), to slow (for rear only), to fast, to continuous.
Refer to your Owner's Manual on the DVD for further details.
OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE
42
WARNING!
A hot engine cooling system is dangerous. You or others could be badly burned by
steam or boiling coolant.
- Transmission Temperature Warning Light
This light indicates that there is excessive transmission fluid temperature that might
occur with severe usage such as trailer towing. If this light turns on, stop the vehicle
and run the engine at idle, with the transmission in NEUTRAL, until the light turns
off. Once the light turns off, you may continue to drive normally.
CAUTION!
Continuous driving with the Transmission Temperature Warning Light illuminated
will eventually cause severe transmission damage or transmission failure.
WARNING!
If you continue operating the vehicle when the Transmission Temperature Warning
Light is illuminated you could cause the fluid to boil over, come in contact with hot
engine or exhaust components and cause a fire.
- High Beam Indicator
Indicates that headlights are on high beam.
- Front Fog Light Indicator
This indicator will illuminate when the front fog lights are on.
- Turn Signal Indicator
The arrows will flash with the exterior turn signals when the turn signal lever is
operated. A tone will chime, and an EVIC message will appear if either turn signal is
left on for more than 1 mile (1.6 km).
NOTE:
If either indicator flashes at a rapid rate, check for a defective outside light bulb.
- Vehicle Security Light
This light will flash rapidly for approximately 15 seconds when the vehicle theft
alarm is arming. The light will flash at a slower speed continuously after the alarm is
set. The security light will also come on for about three seconds when the ignition is
first turned on.
WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES
156
CAUTION!
Do not use scouring pads, steel wool, a bristle brush, or metal polishes. Do not use oven
cleaner. These products may damage the wheel's protective finish. Avoid automatic car
washes that use acidic solutions or harsh brushes that may damage the wheel's
protective finish. Only MOPAR
®Wheel Cleaner or equivalent is recommended.

applicable Service Manual.
* CHMSL is not serviceable. It is a LED lamp. To replace the LED, the entire CHMSL
assembly must be replaced.
** The headlamps are a type of high-voltage discharge tube. High voltage can remain
in the circuit even with the headlamp switch off and the Key Fob removed. Because
of this, you should not attempt to service a headlamp bulb yourself. If a headlamp
bulb fails, take your vehicle to an authorized dealer for service.
