Service Data Recording
Service data recorders in your vehicle arecapable of collecting and storingdiagnostic information about your vehicle.This potentially includes information aboutthe performance or status of varioussystems and modules in the vehicle, suchas engine, throttle, steering or brakesystems. In order to properly diagnose andservice your vehicle, Ford Motor Company,Ford of Canada, and service and repairfacilities may access or share among themvehicle diagnostic information receivedthrough a direct connection to your vehiclewhen diagnosing or servicing your vehicle.Additionally, when your vehicle is in forservice or repair, Ford Motor Company,Ford of Canada, and service and repairfacilities may access or share among themdata for vehicle improvement purposes.For U.S. only (if equipped), if you chooseto use the SYNC Vehicle Health Report,you consent that certain diagnosticinformation may also be accessedelectronically by Ford Motor Company andFord authorized service facilities, and thatthe diagnostic information may be usedfor any purpose. Event Data Recording
This vehicle is equipped with an eventdata recorder. The main purpose of anevent data recorder is to record, incertain crash or near crash-likesituations, such as an airbagdeployment or hitting a road obstacle;this data will assist in understandinghow a vehicle’s systems performed.The event data recorder is designed torecord data related to vehicle dynamicsand safety systems for a short periodof time, typically 30 seconds or less.

Deactivating and Activating theBelt-Minder Feature
WARNING
While the system allows you todeactivate it, this system is designedto improve your chances of beingsafely belted and surviving an accident.We recommend you leave the systemactivated for yourself and others who mayuse the vehicle. To reduce the risk of injury,do not deactivate or activate the systemwhile driving the vehicle.
Note:The driver and front passengerwarning are deactivated and activatedindependently. When deactivating oractivating one seating position, do notbuckle the other position as this willterminate the process.
Read Steps 1 - 4 thoroughly beforeproceeding with the programmingprocedure.
The system can be deactivated oractivated by performing the followingprocedure:
Before following the procedure, make surethat:
•the parking brake is set
•the transmission selector lever is inposition P (automatic transmission)or N (manual transmission)
•the ignition is off
•the driver and front passenger safetybelts are unbuckled.
1.Turn the ignition on. Do not start thevehicle.
2.Wait until the safety belt warning lightturns off (about one minute). AfterStep 2, wait an additional five secondsbefore proceeding with Step 3. OnceStep 3 is started, the procedure mustbe completed within 30 seconds.
3.For the seating position being disabled,buckle then unbuckle the safety beltthree times at a moderate speed,ending in the unbuckled state. AfterStep 3, the safety belt warning light willturn on.
4.While the safety belt warning light ison, buckle and then unbuckle thesafety belt. After Step 4, the safety beltwarning light will flash for confirmation.
•This will disable the feature for thatseating position if it is currentlyenabled.
•This will enable the feature for thatseating position if it is currentlydisabled.
CHILD RESTRAINT AND
SAFETY BELT MAINTENANCE
Inspect the vehicle safety belts and childsafety seat systems periodically to makesure they work properly and are notdamaged. Inspect the vehicle and childseat safety belts to make sure there are nonicks, tears or cuts. Replace if necessary.All vehicle safety belt assemblies, includingretractors, buckles, front safety belt buckleassemblies, buckle support assemblies(slide bar-if equipped), shoulder beltheight adjusters (if equipped), shoulderbelt guide on seat back (if equipped), childsafety seat LATCH and tether anchors, andattaching hardware, should be inspectedafter a crash. Read the child restraintmanufacturer's instructions for additionalinspection and maintenance informationspecific to the child restraint.

The tag with your transmitter details thestarting procedure.
To remote start your vehicle:
1.Press the lock button to lock all thedoors.
2.Press the remote start button twice.The exterior lamps will flash twice.
The horn will sound if the system fails tostart, unless quiet start is on. Quiet startwill run the blower fan at a slower speedto reduce noise. It can be switched on oroff in the information display. See GeneralInformation (page 87).
Note:If the vehicle has been remote startedwith an integrated keyhead transmitter, youmust switch the ignition on before drivingyour vehicle. With an intelligent accesstransmitter, you must press theSTART/STOP button on the instrumentpanel once while applying the brake pedalbefore driving your vehicle.
The power windows will not work duringthe remote start and the radio will not turnon automatically.
The parking lamps will remain on and thevehicle will run for 5, 10, or 15 minutes,depending on the setting.
Extending the Vehicle Run Time
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 with the vehicle stillrunning to extend the run time for anotherremote start duration. If you programmedthe duration to last 10 minutes, the second10 minutes will begin after what is left ofthe first activation time. For example, if thevehicle had been running from the firstremote start for five minutes, the vehiclewill continue to run now for a total of 15minutes. You can extend the remote startup to a maximum of 35 minutes.
Wait at least five seconds before remotestarting after a vehicle shutdown.
Turning the Vehicle Off After RemoteStarting
Press the button once. Theparking lamps will turn off.
You may have to be closer to thevehicle than when starting due to groundreflection and the added noise of therunning vehicle.
You can disable or enable the remote startsystem through the information display.See General Information (page 87).
REPLACING A LOST KEY OR
REMOTE CONTROL
Replacement keys or remote controls canbe purchased from an authorized dealer.Authorized dealers can program remotecontrols for your vehicle. See PassiveAnti-Theft System (page 61).
To re-program the passive anti-theftsystem see an authorized dealer.

Note:Some warning indicators appear inthe information display and function thesame as a warning lamp but do not displaywhen you start your vehicle.
Adaptive Cruise Control (If Equipped)
The speed control systemindicator light changes color toindicate what mode the systemis in: See Using Cruise Control (page 179).
On (white light): Illuminates when theadaptive cruise control system is turnedon. Turns off when the speed controlsystem is turned off.
Engaged (green light): Illuminates whenthe adaptive cruise control system isengaged. Turns off when the speed controlsystem is disengaged.
Anti-Lock Braking System
If it illuminates when you aredriving, this indicates amalfunction. You will continueto have the normal braking system(without ABS) unless the brake systemwarning lamp is also illuminated. Have thesystem checked by your authorized dealer.
Auto Start-stop (If Equipped)
It will illuminate to inform youwhen the engine shuts down orin conjunction with a message.
Battery
If it illuminates while driving, itindicates a malfunction. Switchoff all unnecessary electricalequipment and have the system checkedby your authorized dealer immediately.
Blind Spot Monitor (If Equipped)
It will illuminate when you switchthis feature off or in conjunctionwith a message. See Blind SpotInformation System (page 191). SeeInformation Messages (page 95).
Brake System
It will illuminate when youengage the parking brake withthe ignition on.
If it illuminates when you are driving, checkthat the parking brake is not engaged. Ifthe parking brake is not engaged, thisindicates low brake fluid level or a brakesystem malfunction. Have the systemchecked immediately by your authorizeddealer.
WARNING
Driving your vehicle with the warninglamp on is dangerous. A significantdecrease in braking performancemay occur. It will take you longer to stopyour vehicle. Have your vehicle checked byyour authorized dealer immediately. Drivingextended distances with the parking brakeengaged can cause brake failure and therisk of personal injury.
Cruise Control (If Equipped)
It will illuminate when you switchthis feature on.
Direction Indicator
Illuminates when the left or rightturn signal or the hazard warningflasher is turned on. If theindicators stay on or flash faster, check fora burned out bulb. See Changing a Bulb(page 251).

Door Ajar
Displays when the ignition is onand any door is not completelyclosed.
Electric Park Brake
It will illuminate when theelectric parking brake has amalfunction.
Engine Coolant Temperature
Illuminates when the enginecoolant temperature is high.Stop the vehicle as soon aspossible, switch off the engine and let cool.
Engine Oil
If it illuminates with the enginerunning or when you are driving,this indicates a malfunction.Stop your vehicle as soon as it is safe todo so and switch the engine off. Check theengine oil level. See Engine Oil Check(page 241).
Note:Do not resume your journey if itilluminates despite the level being correct.Have the system checked by your authorizeddealer immediately.
Fasten Safety Belt
It will illuminate and a chime willsound to remind you to fastenyour safety belt. See SafetyBelt Minder (page 31).
Front Airbag
If it fails to illuminate when youstart your vehicle, continues toflash or remains on, it indicatesa malfunction. Have the system checkedby your authorized dealer.
Front Fog Lamps (If Equipped)
It will illuminate when you switchthe front fog lamps on.
Heads Up Display (If Equipped)
A red beam of lights willilluminate on the windshield incertain instances when usingadaptive cruise control and/or the collisionwarning system. It will also illuminatemomentarily when you start your vehicleto make sure the display works.
High Beam
It will illuminate when you switchthe high beam headlamps on. Itwill flash when you use theheadlamp flasher.
Hood Ajar
Displays when the ignition is onand the hood is not completelyclosed.
Lane Keeping Aid (If Equipped)
Illuminates when the lanekeeping system is activated.
Low Fuel Level
It will illuminate when the fuellevel is low or the fuel tank isnearly empty. Refuel as soon aspossible.
Low Tire Pressure Warning
It will illuminate when your tirepressure is low. If the lampremains on with the enginerunning or when driving, checkyour tire pressure as soon as possible.

AUDIBLE WARNINGS AND
INDICATORS
Key in Ignition Warning Chime
Sounds when you open the driver's doorand you have left the key in the ignitionwith it in the off or accessory position.
Keyless Warning Alert (If Equipped)
Sounds the horn twice when you exit yourvehicle with the intelligent access key, afterthe last door is closed and your keylessvehicle is in RUN, indicating your vehicle isstill on.
Headlamps On Warning Chime
Sounds when you remove the key from theignition and open the driver's door and youhave left the headlamps or parking lampson.
Parking Brake On Warning Chime
Sounds when you have left the parkingbrake on and drive your vehicle. If thewarning chime remains on after you havereleased the parking brake, have thesystem checked by an authorized dealerimmediately.
