Stop & StartThe Stop & Start system puts the engine temporarily into standby - STOP mode - during stops in the traffic (red lights, traffic jams, or other...). The engine restarts automatically - START mode - as soon as you want to move off. The restart takes place instantly, quickly and silently.
Per fect
for urban use, the Stop & Start system reduces fuel consumption and exhaust emissions as well as the noise level when stationary.
Operation
Going into engine STOP mode
For your comfort, during parking manoeuvres, STOP mode is not
a
vailable for a few seconds after
coming
out of reverse gear.
STOP
mode does not affect the
f
unctionality of the vehicle, such as for
example,
braking, power steering...
Never
refuel with the engine in STOP
m
ode; you must switch off the ignition
w
ith the key.
The "E

warning
lamp
comes

n
in
the
instrument
panel
and
the
e
ngine
goes
into
standby:

ith a manual gearbox , at speeds below

mph
(20
km/h),
when
you
put
the
gear

ever into neutral, and you release the
clutch
pedal.

ith a 5 or 6-speed electronic gearbox ,
when
stationary
or
at
speeds

you

pedal
or

the

A
time
counter
calculates
the
sum
o
f
the
periods
in
STOP
mode
d
uring
a
journey.
It
rests
itself
t
o
zero
every
time
the
ignition
is
s
witched
on
with
the
key. STOP
mode is not invoked when:
- t he driver's door is open,
-
t
he driver's seat belt is not fastened,
-
t
he vehicle has not exceeded 6 mph

km/h) since the last engine start using
t
he key,
-
t
he engine is needed to maintain a
c
omfortable temperature in the passenger
c
ompartment,

emisting is active,
-

ome special conditions (battery charge,

ngine temperature, braking assistance,
a
mbient temperature...) where the engine is

eeded to assure control of a system.
Special cases: STOP mode not

The "EcO" warning lamp flashes for a
few seconds then goes off.
This operation is perfectly normal.

Going into engine START mode
The "EcO" warning lamp goes off a
nd the engine starts:

ith a manual gearbox , when you
depress the clutch pedal,

ith a 5-speed or 6-speed electronic
gearbox :

release
the brake pedal,

gear lever in position N and the brake

when you engage reverse gear.
Special cases: START invoked
automatically
If the system has been deactivated in STOP mode, the engine restarts

mmediately.
At
any time, press the "E

FF" switch to
deactivate the system.
This
is confirmed by the switch warning lamp
c
oming on accompanied by a message in the
sc
reen.

TART mode is invoked automatically when:

ou open the driver's door,

ou unfasten the driver's seat belt,

he speed of the vehicle exceeds 7 mph

gear
without

restart.

The system is reactivated automatically at every new start using the key.
Reactivation
This system requires a battery with a special specification and technology (reference
n
umbers available from a CITROËN dealer or a
q
ualified
w
orkshop).
Fitting
a battery not listed by CITROËN
i
ntroduces the risk of malfunction of the
s
ystem.
In
the
event
of
a
fault
with
the
system,
the
"
E
cO O
FF"
switch
warning
lamp
flashes
then
c
omes
on
continuously.
Have
it
checked
by
a
CITROËN
dealer
or
a
q
ualified
w
orkshop.
In
the
event
of
a
fault
in
STOP
mode,
the
v
ehicle
may
stall.
All
of
the
instrument
panel
w
arning
lamps
come
on.
It
is
then
necessary
t
o
switch
off
the
ignition
and
start
the
engine
a
gain
using
the
key.
Operating fault Maintenance
Before doing anything under the b
onnet, deactivate the Stop & Start
system
to avoid any risk of injury
r
esulting from automatic operation of
S
TART mode.
The
Stop & Start system makes use

f advanced technology. All work

n this type of battery must be done

Hill start assist
System which holds your vehicle temporarily (approximately 2 seconds) when starting on a
s
lope, the time it takes to move your foot from
t
he brake pedal to the accelerator pedal.
This
function is only active when:
-
t
he vehicle is completely stationary, with
y
our foot on the brake pedal,
-
c
ertain conditions on a slope are met,
-
w
ith the driver’s door closed.
The hill start assist function cannot be
deactivated.
On an ascending slope, with the vehicle
stationary, the vehicle is held momentarily
when you release the brake pedal:
-
p
rovided you are in automated mode
(
position A)
or in manual mode (position M)
on
an electronic gearbox.
Do not leave the vehicle while it is
being
held in the hill start assist phase.
If you need to leave the vehicle with
the
engine running, manually apply
t
he parking brake then ensure that the
p
arking brake warning lamp is on (not
f
lashing) in the instrument panel.Operation
On a descending slope, with the vehicle
stationary and reverse gear engaged, the
vehicle is held momentarily when you
release the brake pedal.
Operating fault
If a malfunction of the system occurs, these warning lamps come on. Contact a CITROËN

When the ignition is switched off, all o
f the lamps switch off automatically,

nless guide-me-home lighting is

the lighting is switched on manually

fter switching off the ignition, there

s an audible signal when a front door

s opened to warn the driver that
they
have forgotten to switch off the
v
ehicle's lighting, with the ignition off.
In
good or rainy weather, by both day
a
nd night, the front foglamps and the
r
ear foglamp are prohibited. In these
s
ituations, the power of their beams
m
ay dazzle other drivers.
Do not forget to switch off the front
f
oglamps and the rear foglamp when
t
hey are no longer necessary.
Front
and
rear
foglamps
When
the
lighting
is
switched
off
automatically
(
with
AUTO
model)
or
when
the
dipped
h
eadlamps
are
switched
off
manually,
the
f
oglamps
and
sidelamps
will
remain
on.

The sidelamps and dipped beam headlamps are switched on automatically, without any
a
ction on the part of the driver, when a low level
of
external light is detected or in certain cases
o
f activation of the windscreen wipers.
As
soon as the brightness returns to a
s
ufficient level or after the windscreen wipers
are
switched off, the lamps are switched off
au
tomatically.
Automatic illumination of headlamps
Activation
F Turn ring to the "AUTO" position. The a
utomatic illumination of headlamps is

Association with the automatic
"Guide-me-home" lighting
Association with the automatic illumination of headlamps provides "guide-me-home" lighting

30 or 60 seconds in the functions that can

set in the vehicle configuration menu
(
except in the case of the monochrome

creen A, for which the duration is set:

eadlamps is in operation.
Operating fault
In the event of a fault with the
sunshine sensor, the lighting
c
ome
on,
this warning lamp is displayed in the
i
nstrument
panel and/or a message appears in
t
he
screen,
accompanied by an audible signal.
Contact a CITR
oË
N dealer or a qualified
workshop.
In
fog or snow, the sunshine sensor
m
ay
detect sufficient light. Therefore,
t
he
lighting will not come on
au
tomatically.
Do not cover the sunshine sensor,
coupled with the rain sensor and
located in the centre of the windscreen
behind
the rear view mirror; the
a
ssociated functions would no longer
be c
ontrolled.
Safety
This section describes the operation of the direction indicators, hazard
warning lamps and the horn to warn other road users, the emergency
o
r assistance call in the event of an accident or breakdown, the various
b
raking and trajectory control systems for maintaining control of your
v
ehicle, the seat belts and airbags to reduce the risk of injury in the event
o
f a collision.
Direction indicators
Selection of the left or right direction indicators to signal a change of direction of the vehicle.

eft: lower the lighting stalk beyond the

ight: raise the lighting stalk beyond the

oint of resistance.

F Press briefly upwards or downwards, without going beyond the point of

esistance; the direction indicators will

Hazard warning lam ps
A visual warning by means of the direction i
ndicators to alert other road users to a vehicle
breakdown,
towing or accident.

They
can operate with the ignition off.
Automatic operation of
hazard warning lamps
When braking in an emergency, depending on the deceleration, the hazard warning lamps

ome on automatically.
They
switch off automatically the first time you
a
ccelerate.
