.... the
battery, we recommend that the replacement
battery used is of the same make and type as the
original-equipment battery. After changing the
battery, the power management system must be
initialised by a qualified workshop to ensure that
the replacement battery is charged to an opti­
mum level.
A replacement battery must have the same ca­
pacity, voltage (12 V) and current rating. It must
also have the same dimensions as the original,
factory-fitted battery and have sealed caps. The
battery must comply with the standards
TL 825 06 (dated April 2008 or later) and
VW 7 50 73 (April 2010 or later).
Since the battery is difficult to access, we recom­
mend having it replaced by an Audi dealer or
qualified workshop.
CD CAUTION
- Your vehicle is equipped with a special deep
cycle battery (e.g. AGM type). The on-board
electronic systems may develop problems if
you fit a different type of battery. For this
reason, if you need to replace the vehicle
battery, make sure that the specifications of
the new battery match the original exactly.
- Make sure that the vent hose is always at­
tached to the original opening on the side of
the battery. Gases or battery acid can other­
wise escape and possibly cause damage.
- The battery holder and clamps must always
be correctly secured.
- Before starting any work on the battery, al­
ways observe the warnings listed under
¢ page 227, Important safety warnings for
handling a car battery.
@ For the sake of the environment
"S Batteries contain toxic substances including
sulphuric acid and lead. They must be dis­
posed of appropriately and must not be put
together with ordinary household waste.
Make sure the battery removed from the vehi­
cle cannot tip over. Otherwise, sulphuric acid
could escape. Checking

Clean water should be used when topping up. If
possible, use soft water to prevent scaling on the
washer jets. Always add washer fluid to the water
(with anti-freeze additive in winter).
CD CAUTION
- Never put in radiator anti-freeze or other
additives.
- Never use washer fluid which contains paint
thinners or solvents as it can damage the
paintwork.
Service interval display
The service interval display detects when the
next service is due for your vehicle.

There are two service interval display levels:

- Use only tyre/rim combinations and match­
ing wheel bolts approved by Audi. Otherwise
damage to the vehicle and an accident could
result.
- For technical reasons, it is not possible to
use wheels from other vehicles. In certain
cases, it is not even possible to use wheels
from another vehicle of the same model.
- It is very important to ensure that the tyres
you have chosen have adequate clearance.
When selecting replacement tyres, do not
rely entirely on the nominal tyre size marked
on the tyre; with some makes of tyre the ef­
fective tyre size can differ significantly from
the nominal dimensions, even though the
tyres have the same size designation. Inade­
quate tyre clearance can result in damage to
the tyres or the vehicle, causing a serious
safety risk.
- Avoid running the car on tyres that are more
than 6 years old. If you have no alternative,
you should drive slowly and with extra care
at all times.
- The use of run-flat tyres on your vehicle is
NOT authorised! Unauthorised use can cause
an accident or damage your vehicle.
- If wheel trims are fitted after the car is pur­
chased, ensure that there is an adequate
flow of air for cooling the brakes -risk of ac­
cident!

Please observe the applicable regulations in the country in
which you are travelling.

Inspect the tyres regularly for damage.
- The wear on under or over-inflated tyres is sig­
nificantly higher.
- Fast cornering, heavy acceleration and hard
braking all increase tyre wear.
- If you notice excessive tyre wear, have the
wheel alignment checked by a qualified work­
shop.
- Have your tyres rebalanced if steering wheel vi­
brations indicate an imbalance. Otherwise, the
tyres and other parts of the vehicle may wear
faster.
Tread wear indicators
The original tyres on your vehicle have 1.6 mm
high tread wear indicators ¢ Fig. 219 running
across the tread at regular intervals. The letters
"TWI" or triangles on the sidewall indicate the
positions of the tread wear indicators.

est when the tread is worn down to the tread
wear indicators. Replace the tyres with new ones

Changing wheels round
Wheels should be changed round regularly to en­
sure that the wear is equal on all tyres. Fit the
wheels from the rear axle on the front axle and
vice-versa. All the tyres will then last for about
the same time.
On tyres with a directional tread pattern, note
the direction of rotation indicated on the sidewall
¢page 247.
Concealed damage
Damage to tyres and rims is often not readily visi­
ble. If you notice unusual vibrations or the car
pulling to one side, this may indicate that one of
the tyres is damaged. Reduce your speed imme­
diately. Inspect the tyres for damage. If no exter­
nal damage is visible, drive slowly and carefully
to the nearest qualified workshop and have the
car inspected.

The vehicle identification number can be found
on the infotainment system, on the vehicle data
sticker and behind the windscreen on the driver's
side*. The chassis number is also located on the
rear panel in the engine compartment*.
Type plate
The type plate is located in the engine compart­
ment. Vehicles for certain export countries have
no type plate.
Vehicle data sticker
The vehicle data sticker ¢ Fig. 248 is under the
carpet trim in the luggage compartment in the
spare wheel well. One section of the vehicle data
sticker is attached to the inside cover of the Serv­
ice Schedule before the vehicle is handed over.
The sticker lists the following data:

The specified values were determined in accord­
ance with the required test procedures. The spec­
ifications do not refer to an individual vehicle,
but serve only as a basis for comparing the differ­
ent types of vehicles. In addition, the consump­
tion figures achieved during normal driving may
differ from the test values, depending in particu­
lar on special equipment fitted, vehicle loading,
personal driving style, road and traffic condi­
tions, environmental factors and the condition of
the car.

and suspension. Take care not to damage low­
mounted parts of the car (such as the spoiler or
exhaust system) on steep ramps, uneven road
surfaces or roadside kerbs, etc. This applies espe­
cially when the vehicle is fully laden.
