cause ma lfunction of the tire pressure moni­
toring system, and is not recommended (cord
materia l information in molded on the tire
sidewall).
A lways check your tire pressure monitoring
system indicator after replacing one or more
tires on your vehicle . If the tire pressure mon i­
toring system indicator flashes, or is on, your
system is not working properly.
A WARNING
-Us ing incorrect or unmatched tires and/
or wheels or improper tire and wheel
combinations can lead to loss of cont rol,
co llision and serious persona l injury.
- Always use tires, rims and wheel bo lts
that meet the specifications of orig inal
factory-installed t ires or other combina­
t ions that have been specifically ap­
proved by the vehicle manufac turer .
- T ires age even if they are not be ing used
and can fail suddenly, especially at high
speeds. Tires that are more than 6 years
o ld can only be used in an emergency
and then with special care and at lower
speeds.
- Never mount used tires on yo ur vehicle if
you are not sure of their "previous histo­
ry." Old used tires may have been dam­
aged even though the damage cannot be
seen that can lead to sudden tire failure
and loss of vehicle control.
- Only the wheel/tire s izes specified by the
manufacturer may be used on veh icles
with all-wheel dr ive.
- Never drive faster than the maximum
speed for which the tires on your veh icle
are rated because ti res that are driven
fas ter than their rated speed can fail
sudden ly.
- Overloading t ires cause heat build-up,
sudden tire failure, incl uding a blowout
and sudden deflation and loss of control.
- Temperature grades app ly to tires that
are prope rly inflated and not over or un­
derinflated. -
For technica l reasons it is not always
possible to use wheels from other
vehicles -in some cases not even wheels
from the same veh icle model.
- Do not use run-flat tires on your vehicle.
Using run-flat tires can lead to veh icle
damage or crashes .
(D Note
-For technical reasons, it is not generally
possible to use the wheel rims from oth­
er veh icles . Th is can hold true for wheels
of the same vehicle type .
- If you should put different wheels and
tires on your veh icle (e.g. winter wheels
and tires), you must be certain that the
wheels and tires are compatible with the
tire pressure monitoring system. Other­
w ise the system will register a malfunc­
tion and a fau lt message w ill be dis­
played. For more information, contact
your authorized Audi dealer.
(D Note
- When installing new tires, be care ful not
to damage the valves or tire pressure
monitoring system sensors.
- Never drive without the valve stem cap.
The va lves co uld get damaged.
- If the sensors must be replaced, then
the valve must also be replaced at the
same time.

Dispose of o ld tires in accordance with the
l ocal requirements .

Inflating tire
"' Move the switch @¢ fig. 157 on the elec ­
tric air pump
ll to posit ion I. After 5 mi ­
nutes, tire pressure must have reached at
l east 1.8 bar .
"' Switch the electric a ir pump off - switch in
position
0 . If the required tire pressure of at
least 1.8 bar has not been reached, follow
the instructions in the section
Re -inflating
tire .
Re-infl ating tire
"' Remove the hose from the valve and pu ll the
plug out of the socket.
"' Drive the vehicle slowly 10 meters backward
or forward. This helps to distribute the seal­
ant better.
"' Remove the empty inflat ion bottle and
sc rew the hose ®¢

"' Insert the plug @ into the socket for the
cigarette lighter .
"' Switch on the ignition.

Disassembling Tire Mobility System
"'Remove the hose from the valve and pu ll the
plug out of the soc ket.
"' Screw the dust c ap onto the va lve.
"' Place the empty sealant bottle back in the
o riginal packaging and clip it in p lace under
the floor so that no tire sealant can run out into the vehicle.
"' Start driving right away so that the sealant
is d istributed in the tire.

A WARNING
-Follow the manufacturer's safety instruc­
tions on the decal for the air pump and
the sealant bottle.
- If a tire pressure of 1.8 bar cannot be
achieved after pumping for 5 minutes,
the t ire is too severe ly damaged . Do not
continue to dr ive.
- Seek professional ass istance if it is not
possible to repa ir the tire w ith the t ire
sealant.
(D Tips
- Do not operate the electric air pump for
more than 6 minu tes witho ut stopping,
otherwise it can overheat . When the a ir
pump has coo led down, you can continue
to use it.
- I f sea lant has escaped, allow it to dry,
t hen yo u can peel it off.

4. Secure the other end to the jump start pin
© for the discharged battery@.
Starting the engine
.,. Start the eng ine of the vehicle providing as­
s istance and allow it to run at id le.
.,. Now start the engine of the vehicle with the
discharged battery .
.,. If the engine does not start: Stop trying af­
ter 10 seconds and then try again after
about 30 seconds .
.,. Disconnect the cable while the engine is
running in exactly
reverse order to that de­
scribed.
The battery is vented to the outside to prevent
gases from entering the vehicle interior. Make
sure that the jumper clamps are well connect­
ed with their
metal ports in full contact with
the battery termina ls.
A WARNING
To avoid serious personal i njury and dam­
age to the vehicle, heed all warnings and
instructions of the jumper cable manufac­
turer.
If in doubt, ca ll for road service .
- Jumper cables must be long enough so
that the vehicles do not touch.
- When connecting jumper cables, make
sure that they cannot get caught in any
moving parts in the engine compart­
ment.
- Before you check anything in the engine
compartment, always read and heed all
WARNINGS

Improper hook-up of jumper cables can ru­
in the generator.
- Always connect POSITIVE( +) to POSI­
TIVE(+), and NEGATIVE(-) to NEGATIVE
( - ) ground post of the battery manager
control unit.
- Check that all screw plugs on the battery
ce lls are screwed in firmly. If not, tighten
plugs prior to connecting clamp on nega­
tive battery terminal.

- Please note that the procedure for con ­
necting a jumper cable as described
above applies specifically to the case of
your vehicle being jump started. When
you are giving a jump start to another ve­
hicle, do
not connect the negative(-) ca­
ble to the negative(-) terminal on the
discharged battery@. Instead, securely
connect the negative(-) cable to eithe r a
solid metal component that is firmly
bolted to the engine block or to the en­
gine block itself. If the battery that is be­
ing charged does not vent to the outside,
escaping battery gas could ignite and ex­
plode!
Emergency towing
with commercial tow
truck
' General hints
Your Audi requires special handling for tow­
ing.
The following information is to be used by commercial tow truck operators who know
how to operate their equipment safely.
- Never tow your Audi, towing will cause dam­
age to the engine and transmission.
- Never wrap the safety chains or winch cables around the brake lines.
- To prevent unnecessary damage, your Audi
must be transported w ith a car carrier (flat
bed truck) .
- To load the vehicle on to the flat bed, use
the towing loop found in the vehicle tools
and attach to the front anchorage

A WARNING
A vehicle being towed is not safe for pas­
sengers . Never allow anyone to ride in a
vehicle be ing towed, for any reason.
