Defective light bulb warning
The defective light bulb warning tells you
when a vehicle light bulb has become defec
tive.

The defective light bu lb warning monitors the
function of the light bulbs . If th is symbol
I
illuminates, a brake light, a turn signal (front
or rear), a headlight, the backup light, a fog
light or a rear fog light has failed.
A WARNING
- light bu lbs are pressurized and could ex
plode while they are being changed caus
ing serious personal injury.
- Work with due care when handling the
high-voltage section of gas discharge
(xenon) lights. Fa ilure to do so could re
s u lt in dea th o r se rious injury.

Service interval display
The service interval display reminds you when
your next service is due .

T he schedule for the nex t oi l change or inspec
tion is ca lculated automatica lly and disp layed
accordingly. The disp lay works in two stages:
Service reminder
30 days before t he next service is due, a serv
ice reminde r appea rs in the display whe n you
turn on the ignition

After about 5 seconds the display switches
back to norma l. The distance and time re
mai ning are updated each time the ignit ion is
turned on unt il t he da te d ue for se rv ice is
reached.
Service due
When the due date fo r se rvice is reached, the
mes sage
Se rv ice due! appears in the instr u
ment cluster immed iate ly after yo u tur n on
the ignit ion. Addit iona lly, a warning tone
sounds. After about 5 seconds the disp lay
switches back to normal.
Calling up the service schedules
If or when an oil change o r inspection is due,
can be shown in the MMI display by selecting
the service in terval d isplay in the car menu .

A WARNING -
Your vehicle must not be towed in the
event of a malfunction in the electron ic
steering column lock because it cannot be
steered due to the locked steering. If it is
t owed w ith the stee ring locked, there is
the risk of an accident.
~ Ignition lock malfunction
A malfunction in the ignition lock must be re
paired immediately.
If the . symbo l in the d isplay blinks, there is
a malf unct ion in the electronic ignition lock.

! CHECK I button:

• Do not turn the eng ine off.
• Drive immediate ly to an authorized Audi
dealer to have the ma lfunction corrected.
If there is a ma lfunction in the e lectronic igni
tion lock, the ign ition cannot be turned off.

On vehicles w ith Convenience key*, the engine
should not be sw itched
off using the ! STOP !
button because the eng ine cannot be started
aga in after the ignition is switched
off .
Yellow symbols
A yellow symbol means WARNING.

Yellow symbols indicate a priority 2 ma lfunc
tion -Warning! When a yellow warning symbol appears,
one
warning tone sounds. A driver message ap
pears as well to exp lain the ma lfunction in
more detail. The driver warning goes out after
about 5 seconds, but it ca n be brought up
again at any time by press ing the
! CHECK I but
ton .
Check the displayed function as soon as possi
ble. If
more than one priority 2 ma lfunction is
detected, all symbols will appear one after
the o ther for about 2 seconds .

erly put back together to help prevent break
age of parts and long term damage from wa
te r that can enter housings that have not been
properly resealed.
F or your safety, we recommend that you have
your author ized Audi deale r replace any bulbs
for you, since your dealer has the proper tools,
the correct bulbs and the expertise.
Gas discharge lamps (Xenon lights)*:
Due to the high electrical vo ltage, have the
bu lbs rep laced by a qualified technician.
Headlights with Xenon light can be identified
by the high voltage sticker.
A WARNING
Contact with high-voltage components of
the electrical system and improper re placement of gas discharge (Xenon) head
light bulbs can cause serious personal in
jury and death .
- Xenon bulbs are pressurized and can ex
plode when be ing changed .
-Chang ing Xenon lamps requires the spe
cial train ing, instructions and equip
ment .
- Only an authorized Audi dealer or other
qualified workshop should change the
bulbs in gas d ischarge lamps.
A WARNING
There are parts with sharp edges on the
openings and on the bulb holders that can
cause serious cuts.
- If you are uncertain about what to do,
have the work performed by an author
ized Audi dea le r or other qualified work
shop. Serious personal injury may result
from improperly performed work .

-If you must replace the light bu lbs your
se lf, always remembe r that the engine
compartment of any vehicle is a hazard
ous area to work in . Always read and
heed all WARNINGS
