HILL START ASSIST
System which keeps your vehicle im -
mobilised temporarily (approximately
2
seconds)
when
starting
on
a
gradi
-
ent,
the
time
it
takes
to
move
your
foot
from
the
brake
pedal
to
the
accelerator
pedal.
This
function is only active when:
-
the
vehicle
is
completely
stationary
,
with
your foot on the brake pedal,
-
when
certain
conditions
of
gradient
are
met,
-
with
the driver’s door closed.
The hill start assist function cannot be
deactivated. On an ascending slope, with the ve-
hicle stationary, the vehicle is held
for a brief moment when you release
the brake pedal:
-
if
you
are
in
first
gear
or
neutral
with
a
manual gearbox,
-
if
you
are
in
position
A
or M with an
electronic
gearbox,
-
if
you
are
in
position
D
or M with an
automatic
gearbox.
Operation
do not leave the vehicle while it
is being held in the hill start as -
sist
phase.
If
you
need
to
leave
the
vehi
-
cle
while
the
engine
is
running,
apply
the
parking
brake
manu
-
ally
then
ensure
that
the
parking
brake
warning
lamp
is
on
(not
flashing)
in
the
instrument
panel.On a descending slope, with the ve
-
hicle stationary and reverse gear en-
gaged, the vehicle is held for a brief
moment when you release the brake
pedal.Operating fault
If a fault occurs with the system, these warning
lamps come on. Contact a

STOP & START
The Stop & Start system puts the en -
gine temporarily into standby - ST OP mode
-
during
stops
in
the
traffic
(red
lights,
traffic
jams,
or
other
...).
The
en
-
gine
restarts
automatically
-
ST
ART
mode
-
as
soon
as
you
want
to
move
of
f.
The
restart
takes
place
instantly
,
quickly
and silently.
Perfect for urban use, the Stop & Start
system
reduces
fuel
consumption
and
exhaust
emissions
as
well
as
the
noise
level
when stationary.
Operation
Going into engine STOP mode
The "ECO" warning lamp comes on in
the instrument panel and the en -
gine
goes into standby automatically:
- with a manual gearbox, at speeds below
12 mph (20 km/h), or vehi -

stationary

ignition

This

Automatic gearbox
The gearbox does not re -

Electric parking brake
This system does not require any
routine servicing. However ,
in
the
event
of
a
problem,
have
the
system
checked
by
a
CITROËN
dealer
or
a
qualified
work
-
shop.
Manual parking brake
Only use products recommended by
CITROËN or products of equiva -
lent
quality and specification.
In order to optimise the opera -
tion of units as important as
those
in
the
braking
system,
CITROËN
selects
and
of
fers
very
specific products.
After
washing
the
vehicle,
damp
-
ness,
or
in
wintry
conditions,
ice
can
form
on
the
brake
discs
and
pads:
braking
efficiency
may
be
reduced.
Make
light
brake
ap
-
plications
to
dry
and
defrost
the
brakes.
If a loss of ef
fectiveness of this
system
is
noticed,
the
parking
brake
must
be
checked,
even
between
two
services.
Checking
this
system
must
be
done
by
a
CITROËN
dealer
or
a
quali
-
fied
workshop.
Brake pads
Brake wear depends on the style
of driving, particularly in
the
case
of
vehicles
used
in
town,
over
short
distances.
It
may
be
necessary
to
have
the
condition
of
the
brakes
checked,
even
between
vehicle services.
Unless
there
is
a
leak
in
the
circuit,
a
drop
in
the
brake
fluid
level
indicates
that
the
brake pads are worn.

Access to the spare wheel
The spare wheel is installed in the boot under
the floor.
Depending
on
version,
the
spare
wheel
may
be
a
standard
size
steel
or
alloy
wheel,
or
for
some
countries
it
is
the
"space
saver" type.
For access to the spare wheel, refer to
the
paragraph
"Access
to
the
tools"
on
the
previous page.
If your vehicle has an electric
parking
brake,
only
a
"space
saver" type of wheel can be
stowed
in the boot.
For BlueHDi Diesel versions
If
your
vehicle
has
an
electric
park
-
ing
brake,
the
jack
is
stowed
in
a
bag
placed
in
the
bottom
of
the
boot. If
your
vehicle
has
a
manual
parking
brake,
the
jack
is
stowed
under
the
spare
wheel
and
under
the
storage
box:

remove
the
spare
wheel,
F
remove
the
polystyrene
storage
box,
F
push
the
jack
forward,
then
lift
it
by
its
rear
part.

SNOW CHAINS
In wintry conditions, snow chains im -
prove traction as well as the behaviour
of
the vehicle when braking. Advice on installation

If
you
have
to
fit
the
chains
during
a
journey
,
stop
the
vehicle
on
a
flat
surface
on the side of the road.
F
Apply
the
parking
brake
and
posi
-
tion
any
wheel
chocks
to
prevent
movement
of your vehicle.
F
Fit
the
chains
following
the
instruc
-
tions
provided by the manufacturer.
F
Move
of
f
gently
and
drive
for
a
few
moments,
without
exceeding
30 mph
(50 km/h).

Stop
your
vehicle
and
check
that
the
snow
chains
are
correctly
tight
-
ened.
The
snow
chains
must
be
fitted
only
to
the
front
wheels.
They
must
never
be
fitted
to
"space-
saver"
type spare wheels.
Take
account
of
the
legislation
in
force in your country on the use
of
snow
chains
and
the
maxi

mum
running speed authorised.Avoid
driving
with
snow
chains
on
roads
that
have
been
cleared
of
snow

to
avoid
damaging
your
vehicle's
tyres

If

chain

fixings
is
in
contact

TOWING THE VEHICLE
Procedure for having your vehicle towed
or for towing another vehicle us -
ing
a removable towing eye.
The
towing
eye
is
installed
in
the
boot
under
the floor.
To
gain access to it:
F
open the boot,
F
raise
the floor,
F
secure
it
by
hooking
its
cord
on
the
hook
on
the
rear
parcel
shelf
support,
F
remove
the
towing
eye
from
the
holder
.
Access to the tools General recommendations
Observe the legislation in force in your country.
Ensure
that
the
weight
of
the
towing
vehicle
is
higher
than
that
of
the
towed
vehicle.
The
driver
must
remain
at
the
wheel
of
the
towed
vehicle
and
must
have
a
valid
driving licence.
When
towing
a
vehicle
with
all
four
wheels
on
the
ground,
always
use
an
approved
towing arm; rope and straps are prohibited.
The
towing vehicle must move off gently.
When
towing
a
vehicle
with
the
engine
of
f,
there
is
no
longer
any
power
assistance
for braking or steering.
In
the
following
cases,
you
must
always
call
on
a
professional
recovery
service:
-
vehicle
broken down on a motorway or fast road,
-
four-wheel
drive vehicle,
-
when
it
is
not
possible
to
put
the
gearbox
into
neutral,
unlock
the
steering,
or release the parking brake,
-
towing
with only two wheels on the ground,
-
where
there is no approved towing arm available...
