Diesel engine pre-heating fixed. The START/STOP
switch has been pressed (ignition on). Wait until the warning lamp goes off before star ting.
Once it goes off, star ting is immediate, on condition
that the brake pedal remains pressed for automatic or electronic gearboxes, or the clutch pedal is pressed fully down for manual gearboxes.
The period of illumination of the warning lamp is
determined by the ambient conditions (up to about
thirty seconds in extreme conditions).
If the engine does not star t, switch the ignition off and
then on, wait until the warning lamp goes off again,
then start the engine.
Parking brake fixed. The parking brake is applied or notproperly released. Release the parking brake to switch off the warninglamp, keeping your foot on the brake pedal.

Deactivation of the automatic functions of the electric parkingbrake
fixed. The "automatic application" (on switching off the engine) and
"automatic release" functions aredeactivated or faulty.
Activate the function (according to country) via the
vehicle configuration menu or contact a PEUGEOT
dealer or a qualified workshop if automatic application /
release is not possible.
The parkin
g brake can be released manually using the emergency release procedure.

Starting-switching off the engine
With a manual gearbox
, put the gear lever in neutral.
With an electronic gear control gearbox, put the gear lever in N.
With an automatic gearbox

FImmobilise the vehicle. FTurn the key fully towards you to position 1(Stop)
. FRemove the key from the ignition switch.
For Diesel vehicles, in very cold weather the engine will not star t until the pre-heater warning lamp has
gone off.
Key left in the ignition
If the key is left in the ignition switch,there is an audible signal on opening the driver's door.
If one of the star ting conditions is not met, a reminder message appears inthe instrument panel screen. In somecircumstances, it is necessary to turn the steering wheel slightly while pressing the "STA R T/STOP" button to assist unlocking of the steering; a message warns you when this is needed.
If the vehicle is not immobilised, theengine will not stop. FWith the electronic key inside the vehicle,
press the brake pedal on vehicles with
automatic or electronic
gear controlgearbox, or depress the clutch pedal fully
on vehicles with a manual gearbox and
maintain pressure until the engine star ts.

Automatic release
The electric parking brake releases automatically and progressively
when you press the accelerator:FManual gearbox:

When stationary, with the engine running, do not press the accelerator pedal unnecessarily, as you may release the parking brake.
Before leaving the vehicle, check thatparking brake warning lamps in theinstrument panel and the control lever Aare on fixed, not flashing.
Immobilising the vehicle,

With the engine running and the vehicle
stationary, in order to immobilise the vehicle it is essential to manually
apply the parking
brake by pulling
control lever A.
The application of the parking brake is confirmed by:
- illumination o
f the braking warning
lamp and of the Pwarning lamp in
the control lever A ,
- displa
y of the message "Parkingbrake on".
When the driver’s door is opened, a loud beep
is heard and a message is displayed if theparking brake has not been applied, unless thegear lever is in position P (Park) in the case of an automatic gearbox.
Particular situations
In cer tain situations (e.g. star ting the engine),
the parking brake can automatically alter itsforce. This is normal operation.
To advance your vehicle a few centimetres
without star ting the engine, but with the ignition on, press on the brake pedal and release the
parking brake by pushing then releasingcontrol lever A
. The full release of the parking
brake is confirmed by the warning lamps in the control lever Aand in the instrument
panel going off and display of the message
"Handbrake off".
If a parking brake fault occurs while appliedor
if the battery runs flat, an emergency release is
always possible.
In order to ensure correct operation and
so your safety, the number of successive
application/release operations of the parking brake is limited to eight.
In the event of abuse, you are aler ted by a
message "Parking brake faulty" and a warning
lamp flashes.

Only engage reverse gear when thevehicle is stationary with the engine at idle.
As a safety precaution and to facilitatestarting of the engine:- always select neutral, - press the clutch pedal.

Cruise control
System which automatically maintains thespeed of the vehicle at the value programmed
by the driver, without any action on the
accelerator pedal. The cruise control is switched on
manually:
it requires a minimum vehicle speed of 25 mph(40 km/h) and the engaging:
- 4th gear or higher on a manual gearbox,
- 2nd
gear or higher on an electronic gear control gearbox or automatic gearbox,
- position A
on the electronic gear control gearbox or Don the automatic gearbox.
Th
e cruise control is switched offmanuallyfor by pressing the brake or clutch pedal or
on triggering of the ESC system for safety reasons.
It is possible to exceed the programmed speed
temporarily by pressing the accelerator pedal. To return to the programmed speed, simply release the accelerator pedal.
Switching off the ignition cancels any programmed speed value. 1

Steering mounted controls
The cruise control cannot, in anycircumstances, replace the need to observe speed limits, nor can it replace the need for vigilance and responsibilityon the par t of the driver.
