Never select neutral N
while the vehicleis moving. Only engage reverse gear Rwhen thevehicle is immobilised, with your foot on the brake pedal. In all cases, you must apply the parkingbrake to immobilise the vehicle.
"Au t o s equential" mode
In the automated mode, you can resumecontrol temporarily at any time using thesteering mounted control paddles.
The use of these paddles permits manual
selection of the gears in situations which
require a more rapid change-down than in
the automated mode (arrival at a roundabout,
leaving a car park with a steep gradient,
over taking...).
The gearbox engages the required gear if
the engine speed permits. AUTO
remains
displayed on the instrument panel.
After a few moments, the gearbox resumes
automatic control of the gears.
Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you canchange to position N to be in neutral.
In this case,
you must apply the parking brake to immobilise the vehicle.
AUTO
and -
appear in the instrument panel.-
Operating fault
With the ignition on, if this warning
lamp comes on and AUTOflashes, accompanied by an
audible signal and a message in the screen,
this indicates a gearbox fault.
Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
For best acceleration, when over taking another vehicle for example, press the accelerator pedal firmly to pass the
point of resistance.
)
Select position N. )
Press the brake pedal.
)
Wait approximately 30 seconds until N
or agear appears in the instrument panel. )
Release the brake pedal.
The gearbox is operational again.
Reinitialisation
Following disconnection of the battery, the
gearbox must be reinitialised.
) Switch on the ignition.

Operating fault
When immobilising the vehicle, with theengine running, you must place the gear lever in neutral N
.
Before carrying out any work in theengine compar tment, check that thegear lever is in neutral Nand that theparking brake is applied. With the i
gnition on, the flashing
o
f this warning lamp and the flashing of AUTO, accompanied
by an audible signal and a message in
the instrument panel screen, indicates a
malfunction of the
gearbox.
have it checked by PEUGEOT or a qualified workshop.
You must press the brake pedal whenstarting the engine. Whatever the circumstances, you must manually apply the parking brake to immobilise the vehicle.
Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you can
choose to:
- move to position Nto engage neutral,
- leave the gear engaged; in this case, it will not be possible to move the vehicle.
In both cases, you must apply the parkingbrake to immobilise the vehicle.

The system is reactivated automaticallyat every new star t using the key.
Reactivation
Press the "ECO OFF"switch again.
The s
ystem is active again; this is confirmed
by the switch warning lamp going off, accompanied by a message in the screen.
Operating fault
In the event of a fault with the system, the
"ECO OFF"
switch warning lamp flashes thencomes on continuously.
Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or aqualified workshop.
In the event of a fault in STOP mode, the
vehicle ma
y stall. All of the warning lamps come on. It is then necessary to switch off the
ignition and star t the engine again using the key.
Before doing anything under the bonnet, deactivate the Stop & Start system toavoid any risk of injury resulting from automatic operation of STA R T m o d e .
This s
ystem requires a battery with a specialspecification and technology (reference numbers available from a PEUGEOT dealer or
a qualified workshop).
Fitting a battery not listed by
PEUGEOT introduces the risk of malfunction of
the system.
Maintenance
The Stop & Start system makes use of advanced technology. All work on this type of battery must be done by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifiedworkshop.

Hill start assist
System which keeps your vehicle immobilised
temporarily (approximately 2 seconds) whenstarting on a gradient, the time it takes to move your foot from the brake pedal to the
accelerator pedal.
This function is only active when:
- the vehicle is completely stationary, with
your foot on the brake pedal,
- when cer tain conditions of gradient are met,
- with the driver’s door closed.
The hill start assist function cannot bedeactivated.
On an ascendin
g slope, with the vehicle
stationary, if you are in position A or M withan electronic gear control gearbox, the
vehicle is held for a brief moment when yourelease the brake pedal.
Operation
On a descending slope, with the vehicle
stationary and reverse gear engaged, thevehicle is held for a brief moment when you
release the brake pedal.
Do not leave the vehicle while it is beingheld in the hill star t assist phase.
If you need to leave the vehicle whilethe engine is running, apply the parking brake manually then ensure that theparking brake warning lamp is on (notflashing) in the instrument panel.
Operating fault
If a fault occurs with the system, these warninglamps come on. Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop to have the systemchecked.

Safety
Dynamic stability control(DSC)
Activation
This system is activated automatically each
time the vehicle is started.
It comes into operation in the event of a grip or
trajectory problem.
This is indicated b
y flashing of this
warning lamp in the instrument panel.
Deactivation
In exceptional conditions (starting a vehicle
which is bogged down, stuck in snow, on softground...), it may be advisable to deactivate
the DSC system, so that the wheels can move
freely and regain grip.
The DSC system offers exceptional safety in normal driving, but this should not encourage the driver to take extra risks or drive at high speed.
The correct operation of the system depends on obser vation of the manufacturer's recommendationsregarding the wheels (tyres and rims),the braking components, the electronic components and the PEUGEOTassembly and operation procedures.
After an impact, have the system
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or aqualified workshop.
Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes on,
accompanied by an audible signal
and a messa
ge in the screen, this
indicates a fault with the system.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified
workshop to have the system checked.
Reactivation
But it is recommended that the system bereactivated as soon as possible.
)Press the button or, depending
on version, turn the knob to this position.
The s
ystem is reactivated automatically each
time the ignition is switched back on or from
30 mph (50 km/h). The indicator lamp in the button or the knob
comes on: the DSC system no longer acts on
the operation of the engine.
)Press the button again toreactivate it manually.
