The red seat belt
warning lamp
flashes and an
intermittent
audible warning
sounds. The driver or front passenger has not fastened their seat belt. The
vehicle is being driven faster than 15 mph(25 km/h) or has briefly
been driven faster than 15 mph(25 km/h).
G WARNING
If you do not wear the seat belt correctly, it no longer offers the
intended level of protection in the event of an accident. Under
certain circumstances, this could cause severe or even fatal
injuries in the event of an accident.
X Fasten your seat belt (Y page 49).
The warning lamp goes out and the intermittent audible warning
ceases. There are objects on the front-passenger seat. The vehicle is being
driven faster than 15 mph(25 km/h) or has briefly been driven
faster than 15 mph(25 km/h).
G WARNING
If you place objects on the front-passenger seat, the system could
identify the seat as being occupied. In the event of an accident,
the restraint systems on the front-passenger side are triggered.
X Remove the objects from the front-passenger seat and stow
them in a secure place.

If you do not correctly store objects in the
vehicle interior, they can slip or be flung
around, thus striking vehicle occupants.
There is a risk of injury, especially when
braking or abruptly changing directions.
R Always store objects so that they cannot be
flung around in these or in similar
situations.
R Always make sure that objects do not
protrude from stowage compartments,
parcel nets or stowage nets.
R Close lockable stowage compartments
while driving.
R Stow and secure objects that are heavy,
hard, pointy, sharp-edged, fragile or too

to position 1.

and unlocked centrally using the SmartKey

i Depending on the vehicle's equipment,

WARNING
In order to help prevent spilling liquids on
vehicle occupants and/or vehicle equipment,
only use containers that fit into the cup
holder. Use lids on open containers and do
not fill containers to a height where the
contents, especially hot liquids, could spill
during braking, vehicle maneuvers, or in an
accident. Liquids spilled on vehicle occupants
may cause serious personal injury. Liquids
spilled on vehicle equipment may cause
damage not covered by the Mercedes-Benz
Limited Warranty.
When not in use, keep the cup holder closed.
An open cup holder may cause injury to you
or others when contacted during braking,
vehicle maneuvers, or in an accident.
Keep in mind that objects placed in the cup
holder may come loose during braking,
vehicle maneuvers, or in an accident and be
thrown around in the vehicle interior. Objects
thrown around in the vehicle interior may
cause an accident and/or serious personal
injury.

not heat resistant. Before placing lit
cigarettes in the ashtray, make sure that
the ashtray is properly engaged. Otherwise,

WARNING
When leaving the vehicle, always remove the
SmartKey from the ignition lock. Always take
the SmartKey with you and lock the vehicle.
Do not leave children unattended in the
vehicle, even if they are secured in a child
restraint system, or with access to an
unlocked vehicle. A child's unsupervised
access to a vehicle could result in an accident
and/or serious personal injury. The children
could:
R injure themselves on parts of the vehicle
R be seriously or fatally injured through
excessive exposure to extreme heat or cold
R injure themselves or cause an accident with
vehicle equipment that can be operated
even if the SmartKey is removed from the
ignition lock or removed from the vehicle,
such as seat adjustment, steering wheel
adjustment, or the memory function
If children open a door, they could injure other
persons or get out of the vehicle and injure
themselves or be injured by following traffic.
Do not expose the child restraint system to
direct sunlight. The child restraint system's
metal parts, for example, could become very
hot, and the child could be burned on these
parts. G
WARNING
Never touch the heating element or sides of
the lighter; they are extremely hot. Hold the
knob only.
Make sure any children traveling with you do
not injure themselves or start a fire with the
hot cigarette lighter. Features

Points to observe before use X
Turn the SmartKey to position 1in the
ignition lock (Y page 113).
The sockets can be used for accessories with
a maximum current draw of 180 W (15 A), e.g.
lamps or chargers for mobile phones.
If you use the sockets for long periods when
the engine is switched off, the battery may
discharge.
i You can also use the sockets when the
ignition is switched off. An emergency cut-
out ensures that the on-board voltage does
not drop too low. If the on-board voltage is
too low, the power to the sockets is
automatically cut. This ensures that there
is sufficient power to start the engine. Socket in the glove box

activate the mbrace service. Ensure that
your system is activated and ready for use,
and press the ïMB Info call button to
register. If one of these steps is not carried
out, it may not be possible to activate the
system.

i Determining the location of the vehicle on

GPS reception and the vehicle position can

To adjust the volume during an mbrace call,
proceed as follows:
X Press the WorX button on the

Self-diagnosis of the system After you have switched on the ignition, the
system carries out a self-diagnosis.
A malfunction in the system has been
detected if one of the following conditions
occurs:
R
the indicator lamp in the SOS button does
not light up during the system self-
diagnosis.
R the indicator lamp in the FRoadside
Assistance button does not light up during
the system self-diagnosis.
R the indicator lamp in the ïinformation
button does not light up during self-
diagnosis of the system.
R the indicator lamp in the SOS button, the
F Roadside Assistance button or the
ï information button continues to light
up red after the system self-diagnosis.
R the Tele
