Introduction
You can use the individualization function to
fine tune the Voice Control System to your
voice and therefore improve voice
recognition. This means that other users'
voices will not be recognized as easily
.For
this reason this function can be switched off.
Individualization comprises two parts and
takes approximately 5minutes. It consists of
training the system to recognize a certain
number of digit sequences and voice
commands.
Starting new individualization
Individualization can only be started when the
vehicle is stationary. Before starting, switch
off all devices or functions which could
interfere, such as the radio or the navigation
system. After starting the session, the system System settings

range, COMAND tunes in to the next lower

Storing stations Storing stations manually
There are twenty presets available for the FM
and AM wavebands.

Quick save: press and hold a number key,
e.g. 0034, until you hear a tone.
The station is stored.
X Directly in the station presets: press0021
the COMAND controller when the display/
selection window is active.

In both cases, the station presets appear.

than two seconds.
The content of the category or folder
selected is played in accordance with the
playback optio n(Ypage 242) selected.
Alphabetical track selection iPod
®
and MP3 players
This function is available for alphabetically
sorted categories and folders. This function
is not available for albums or playlists, for
example.
X Select a category, e.g. Artists , by turning
0031001C0032 the COMAND controller and press
0021 to confirm.
The available artists are displayed.
X Press the corresponding number key once
or several times to select the first letter of
the artist's name (e.g. for an artist
beginning with the letter "C", press number
key 0034 three times).
The available letters are listed at the lower
edge of the display.
After a message, the first entry in the list
which matches the letter entered is
highlighted.
i If no corresponding entry exists, the last
entry corresponding to aprevious letter is
highlighted instead.
i For iPods ®
and MP3 players, the quality
of the search results is highly dependent on
the versio nand language variant of the
software (e.g. iTunes ®
version) used to
populate the device.
US Bm ass storage device
This function is available for alphabetically
sorted directories .This function is not
available for albums or playlists, for example. X
In a directory, press the corresponding
number key once or several times to select
the first letter of the artist's name (e.g. for
an artist beginning with the letter "C", press
number key 0034three times).
The available letters are listed at the lower
edge of the display.
If the directory only contains folders,
COMAND searches for folders. After a
message, the first entryw hich matches the
letter entered is shown at the top of the list.
If no entry matches the entered letter, the
first item in the list is the last entry to
correspond to a selection.
Selecting an active partition (USB mass
storage devices only) You can select this function for USB mass
storage devices when the storage device is
partitioned. Up to four partitions (primary or
logical; FAT format) are supported.

The Windows formatting program
supports FAT partitioning up to 32 GB as
standard.
X Select Media Interface in the basic
display by sliding 001C0006and turning 0031001C0032the
COMAND controller and press 0021to

X Select Select Active Partition and

Playback options The following options are available:

Normal Track Sequence Normal track sequence: you hear the
tracks in their normal order (e.g. numerical
or alphabetical).
R Random Tracks All the tracks on the medium are played in

Setting the normal level

Start the engine.
If indicator lamp 0003is lit:
X Press button 0002.
Indicator lamp 0003goes out. The vehicle is
adjusted to normal level.
Suspension tuning General notes
The Adaptive Damping System (ADS)
automatically controls the calibration of the
dampers and springs.
The damping is tuned individually to each
wheel and depends on:
R your driving style, e.g. sporty
R the road surface condition ,e.g. bumps
R your individual selection, i.e .sports or
comfort
Your selection remains stored even if you
remove the SmartKey from the ignition lock. Sports tuning
The firmer suspension tunin
ginSport mode
ensures even better contact with the road.
Select this mode when employing a sporty
driving style, e.g. on winding country roads.
X If indicator lamp 0003 is not lit:
press
button 0002.
Indicator lamp 0003lights up. Sports
suspension tuning is selected.
The AIRMATIC SPORT message appears in
the multifunction display. Comfort tuning
In Comfort mode, the driving characteristics
of your vehicle are more comfortable.
Therefore, select this mode if you favor a
more comfortable driving style. Select
comfort mode also when driving fast on
straight roads, e.g. on straight stretches of
freeway.
X
If indicator lamp 0003 is lit:
press
button 0002.
Indicator lamp 0003goes out. Comfort tuning
is selected.
The AIRMATIC COMFORT message appears
in the multifunction display. Active Body Control (ABC)
Vehicle level Your vehicle automatically adjusts its ride
height to improve driving safety and reduce
fuel consumption.
Depending on the vehicle height that has
been set, the vehicle automatically adjusts its
height dependen
tonthe current speed. As
speed increases, the vehicle is lowered by up
to 0.6 in (15 mm). As the speed is reduced,
the vehicle is raised up to the set vehicle
height. G
WARNING
The vehicle is lowered when the engine is
switched off. Therefore, make sure that
nobody is in the vicinity of the wheel housing
or under the vehicle when you switch off the
engine. Otherwise, limbs could become
trapped.
! The vehicle is lowered when the engine is
switched off. When parking, position your
vehicle so that it does not make contact
with the curb as the vehicle is lowered. Your
vehicle could otherwise be damaged.
i For AMG vehicles: when the engine is
switched off, the vehicle is lowered by
approx. 0.4 in (10 mm). 348

Setting the vehicle level
Select the "Normal" setting for normal road
surfaces and "Raised" for driving with snow
chains or on particularly poor road surfaces. G
WARNING
To help avoid personal injury, keep hands and
feet away from wheel housing area, and stay
away from under the vehicle when lowering
the vehicle chassis.
Your selection remains stored even if you
remove the SmartKey from the ignition lock. Setting raised level

Start the engine.
If indicator lamp 0003is not lit:
X Press button 0002.
Indicator lamp 0003lights up. The vehicle
height is adjusted to raised level.
Setting the normal level
X Start the engine.

adjusted to normal level.
Suspension tuning The electronically controlled ABC suspension
system works continuously.T
his improves
driving safety and comfort. The ABC suspension system is tuned
individually to each wheel and depends on:

your driving style, e.g. sporty
R the road surface condition,e .g. bumps
R your individual selection, i.e .sports or
comfort
R the vehicle load
Your selection remains stored even if you

approved parts, tires and wheels or safety-

This could lead to malfunctions in safety-
relevant systems, e.g. the brake system. This
could cause you to lose control of your vehicle
and cause an accident.
For this reason, Mercedes-Benz recommends
that you use genuine Mercedes-Benz parts or
parts of equal quality .Only use tires, wheels
and accessories tha thave been specifically
approved for your vehicle.
! Air bags and Emergency Tensioning
Devices, as well as control units and
sensors for these restraint systems may be
installed in the following areas of your
vehicle:
R doors
R door pillars
R door sills
R seats
R dashboard
R instrument cluster
R center console
Do no tinstall accessories such as audio
systems in these areas. Do not carry out
repairs or welding .You could impair the
operating efficiency of the restraint
systems.
Have aftermarket accessories installed at
a qualified specialist workshop. Mercedes-
Benz recommends that you use an
authorized Mercedes-Benz Center for this
purpose. H
Environmental note
Daimler AG also supplies reconditioned major
assemblies and parts which are of the same
quality as new parts. They are covered by the
same Limited Warranty entitlements as new
parts.
