Deactivating/activating ESP
®G
WARNING
If you deactivate ESP ®
, ESP ®
no longer
stabilizes the vehicle. There is an increased
risk of skidding and an accident.
Only deactivate ESP ®
in the situations
described in the following.
Activating/deactivatin gESP®
on AMG
vehicles (Y page 66).

X Start the engine.
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the DriveAssistmenu.
X Press the 0003or0004 button to select
ESP .
X Press the 000Bbutton.
X To deactivate: press000Bagain.
The 0015 warning lamp in the instrument
cluster lights up.
X To activate: press000Bagain.
The 0015 warning lamp in the instrument
cluster goes out.
ESP ®
is deactivated if the 0015warning lamp
in the instrument cluster lights up
continuously when the engine is running.
If the 000D warning lamp and the 0015
warning lamp are li tcontinuously, ESP ®
is not
available due to a malfunction.
It may be best to deactivate ESP ®
in the
following situations:
R when using snow chains
R in deep snow
R on sand or gravel
Observe the information on warning lamps
(Y page 238).
Observe the information on display messages
(Y page 209). Activating/deactivating PRE-SAFE
®
Brake PRE-SAFE
®
Brake is only available in vehicles
with DISTRONIC PLUS.
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the DriveAssist menu.
X Press the 0003or0004 button to select
PRE-SAFE Brake .
X Press the 000Bbutton.
The current selection is displayed.
X To activate/deactivate: press the000B
button again.
When PRE-SAFE ®
Brake (Y page 68) is
activated, the multifunction display shows
the 0001 symbol as long as the HOLD
function is not activated (Y page 168).
Vehicles with Parking Guidance: if
PARKTRONIC is activated and you are driving
at a speed below 22 mph (35 km/h), the 0011
Parking Guidance symbol is shown instead of
the 0001 symbol.
If the PRE-SAFE Brake: Sensors Deactivated message appears, the radar
sensor system is deactivated.
X Switch on the radar sensor system

If the Blind Spot Assist Sensors Deactivated or

the radar sensor system is deactivated.

Instrumen tcluster Selecting the unit of measurement for
distance
The
Display Unit Speed-/Odometer: function allows you to choose whether
certain displays appear in kilometers or miles
in the multifunction display.
You can determine whether the multifunction
display shows some messages in miles or
kilometers.
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to selec tthe Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Instr. Cluster submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Display Unit Speed-/Odometer: function.
You will see the selected setting:

The selected unit of measurement for
distance applies to:
R the digital speedometer in the Trip menu

You can determine whether the multifunction
display permanently shows your speed or the
outside temperature.

steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.

X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Permanent Display: function.
You will see the selected setting Outside Temperature or
Speedometer [km/h] (USA)/Speedometer [mph] (Canada).

(Canada).
Lights Switching the daytime running lamps on/
off
Daytime running lamps are required by law
(Canada only). You cannot set the "daytime
running lamps" function via the on-board
computer.
X
Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Lights submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Day Lights function.
If the Day Lights function has been
switched on, the cone of light and the
0004 symbol in the multifunction display
are shown in red.
X Press the 000Bbutton to save the setting.

Switching Adaptive Highbeam Assist on/
off
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Lights submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Adapt. Highbeam function.
If the Adapt. Highbeam function has been
switched on, the cone of light and the
0003 symbol in the upper multifunction
display are shown in red.
X Press the 000Bbutton to save the setting.

Activating/deactivating surround
lighting and exterior lighting delayed
switch-off
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Lights submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Surround Lighting function.
When the Surround Lighting function is
activated, the light cone and the area
around the vehicle are displayed in red in
the multifunction display.
X Press the 000Bbutton to save the setting.
Deactivating delayed switch-of fofthe
exterior lighting temporarily:
X Before leaving the vehicle, turn the
SmartKey to position 0in the ignition lock.
X Turn the SmartKey to position 2in the
ignition lock.
The exterior lighting delayed switch-off is
deactivated.
Delayed switch-off of the exterior lighting is
reactivated the next time you start the
engine. If you have activated the
Surround Lighting function and the light switch is set
to 0003, the following functions are activated
when it is dark:
R surround lighting: the exterior lighting
remains lit for 40 seconds after unlocking
with the key. If you start the engine, the
surround lighting is switched off and
automatic headlamp mode is activated
(Y page 107).
R exterior lighting delayed switch-off: the
exterior lighting remains lit for
60 seconds after the engine is switched off.
If you close all the doors and the trunk lid,
the exterior lighting goes off after
5s econds.
i Depending on your vehicle's equipment,
when the surround lighting and delayed
switch-off exterior lighting are on, the
following light up:
R Parking lamps
R Front fog lamps
R Low-beam headlamps
R Daytime running lamps
R Side marker lamps
R Surround lighting in the exterior mirrors
Activating/deactivating the interior
lighting delayed switch-off
If you activate the Light. Delay function,
the interior lighting remains on for
20 seconds after you remove the key from the
ignition lock.
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Lights submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Light. Delay function.
When the Light. Delay function is
activated, the vehicle interior is displayed
in red in the multifunction display.
X Press the 000Bbutton to save the setting. 202

Vehicle
Activating/deactivating the automatic
doo rlocking mechanism
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to selec tthe Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Vehicle submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Auto. Door Locks function.
When the Auto. Door Locks function is
activated, the vehicle doors are displayed
in red in the multifunction display.
X Press the 000Bbutton to save the setting.
If you activate the Auto. Door Locks function, the vehicle is centrally locked above
a speed of around 9 mph (15 km/h).

Activating/deactivating the acoustic
locking verification signal
If you switch on the Acoustic Lock function,
an acoustic signal sounds when you lock the
vehicle.
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Vehicle submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Acoustic Lock function.
If the Acoustic Lock function is activated,
the 000A symbol in the multifunction
display lights up red.
X Press the 000Bbutton to save the setting.
Activating/deactivating the radar sensor
system
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Vehicle submenu. X
Press 000Bto confirm.
X Press the 0003or0004 button to select
Radar Sensor (See Oper. Manual): .
You will see the selected setting: Enabled or
Disabled .
X Press the 000Bbutton to save the setting.

the radar sensor system is deactivated:

Convenience Activating/deactivating the EASY-
ENTRY/EXIT feature

WARNING
When the EASY-ENTRY/EXIT feature adjusts
the steering wheel and the driver's seat, you
and other vehicle occupants –particularly
childre n–could become trapped. There is a
risk of injury.
While the EASY-ENTRY/EXIT feature is
making adjustments, make sure that no one
has any body parts in the sweep of the seat
and the steering wheel.
If somebody becomes trapped:
R press one of the memory function position
buttons, or
R move the switch for steering wheel
adjustmen tinthe opposite direction to that
in which the steering wheel is moving.
The adjustment process is stopped.
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Convenience submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm. Menus and submenus

Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Easy Entry/Exit function.
If the Easy Entry/Exit function is
activated, the vehicle steering wheel is
displayed in red in the multifunction
display.
X Press the 000Bbutton to save the setting.

Switching the belt adjustment on/off
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Convenience submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Belt Adjustment function.
When the Belt Adjustment function is
activated, the vehicle seat belt is displayed
in red in the multifunction display.
X Press the 000Bbutton to save the setting.

Switching the fold-in mirrors when
locking feature on/off
This function is only available on vehicles with
the memory function (Y page 102).
This function is only available in Canada.
When you activate the Auto. MirrorFolding function, the exterior mirrors are
folded in when the vehicle is locked. If you
unlock the vehicle and then open a door, the
exterior mirrors fold out again.
X Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Convenience submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Auto. Mirror Folding function.
If the Auto. Mirror Folding function is
activated, the vehicle's exterior mirror is displayed in red in the multifunction
display.
X Press the 000Bbutton to save the setting.
If you have switched the Auto. Mirror Folding function on and you fold the exterior
mirrors in using the button on the door
(Y page 100), they will not fold out
automatically. The exterior mirrors can then
only be folded out using the button on the
door.
Restoring the factory settings X
Press the 0002or0005 button on the
steering wheel to select the Sett. menu.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select the
Factory Setting submenu.
X Press 000Bto confirm.
The Reset All Settings? message
appears.
X Press the 0004or0003 button to select
No or
Yes .
X Press the 000Bbutton to confirm the
selection.
If you have selected Yes , the multifunction
display shows a confirmation message.
For safety reasons, the Day Lights function
in the Lights submenu is only reset if the
vehicle is stationary. AMG menu in AMG vehicles

Upshift indicator UP 0022
indicates that the
engine has reached the overrevving range
when in the manual gearshift program.
Upshift indicator UP 0022
fades out other
messages until you have shifted up.
If the engine oil temperature is below 176 ‡
(80 †) the oil temperature is shown in blue.
Avoid driving at full engine output during this
time.
SETUP SETUP shows the drive program, the ESP
®
(Electronic Stability Program) mode and the
SPORT handling mode.
X Press 0002or0005 on the steering wheel
to select the AMG menu.
X Press the 0003button repeatedly until
SETUP is displayed. 0002

RACETIMER Displaying and starting RACETIMER
The RACETIMER is only intended for use on a
closed race circuit. Do not use the function
on public roads.
You can use the RACETIMER to store lap
times. X
Press 0002or0005 on the steering wheel
to select the AMG menu.
X Press the 0003button repeatedly until the
RACETIMER is shown.
i If the RACETIMER is selected, the 0002
and 0005 buttons cannot be used to call up
the menu bar. 0002
Lap
0003 RACETIMER
You can start the RACETIMER when the
engine is running or if the SmartKey is in
position 2in the ignition lock.
X To start: press the 000Bbutton to start the
RACETIMER.
Displaying the intermediate time X
Press the 0002or0005 button to select
Interm. Time .
X Press 000Bto confirm.
The intermediate time is displayed for five
seconds.
Starting a new lap
X Press 000Bto confirm New Lap .Menus and submenus

RACETIMER

i It is possible to store a maximum of
sixteen laps. The 16th lap can only be
completed with Finish Lap .
Stopping the RACETIMER
X Press the 0006button on the steering
wheel. X
Press 000Bto confirm Yes .
The RACETIMER interrupts timing when you
stop the vehicle and turn the SmartKey to
position 1in the ignition lock. If you turn the
key to position 2or 3and then press 000Bto
confirm Start , timing is continued.
Resetting the current lap
X Stop the RACETIMER.
X Press the 0002or0005 buttonto select
Reset Lap .
X Press 000Bto reset the lap time to "0".
Deleting all laps
If you switch off the engine, the RACETIMER
is reset to "0" after 30 seconds. All laps are
deleted.
You cannot delete individual stored laps. If
you have stopped 16 laps, the current lap
does not have to be reset. X
Reset the current lap.
X Press 000Bto confirm Reset .
Reset Race Timer? appears in the
multifunction display. X
Press the 0004button to select Yes and
press the 000Bbutton to confirm.
All laps are deleted.
Overall statistics This function is shown if you have stored at
least one lap and stopped the RACETIMER.
X
Press 0002or0005 on the steering wheel
to select the AMG menu.
X Press the 0003button repeatedly until the
overall evaluation is shown. 0002
