6248-2. Steps to take in an emergency

If the 12-volt battery is discharged
If you have a set of jumper (or booster) cables and a second vehicle with a
12-volt battery, you can jump start your vehicle by following the steps
below.
Open the hood (P. 492) and
fuse box cover.
Open the exclusive jump starting
terminal cover.
The following procedures may be used to start the hybrid system if the
vehicle’s 12-volt battery is discharged.
You can also call any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly
qualified and equipped professional.

6268-2. Steps to take in an emergency
CT200h_OM_OM76102E_(EE)
Start the engine of the second vehicle. Increase the engine speed
slightly and maintain at that level for approximately 5 minutes to
recharge the 12-volt battery of your vehicle.
Open and close any of the doors of your vehicle with the power switch
off.
Maintain the engine speed of the second vehicle and start the hybrid
system of your vehicle by turning the power switch to ON mode.
Make sure the “READY” indicator comes on. If the indicator light
does not come on, contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional.
Once the hybrid system has started, remove the jumper cables in the
exact reverse order from which they were connected.
Close the exclusive jump starting terminal cover, and reinstall the fuse
box cover to its original position.
Once the hybrid system starts, have the vehicle inspected at any autho-
rized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped
professional as soon as possible.
Starting the hybrid system when the 12-volt battery is discharged
The hybrid system cannot be started by push-starting.
To prevent 12-volt battery discharge
Turn off the headlights and the audio system while the hybrid system is off.
Turn off any unnecessary electrical components when the vehicle is running at
a low speed for an extended period, such as in heavy traffic.
When the 12-volt battery is removed or discharged
The hybrid system may not start. (P. 507)
If the 12-volt battery discharges while the shift position is in P, it may not be
possible to shift the shift position to other positions. In this case, the vehicle
cannot be towed without lifting both front wheels because the front wheels will
be locked. (P. 562)
When the 12-volt battery is reconnected, start the hybrid system and confirm
that the shift position can be changed to each position using the shift position
indicator.
Make sure that the key is not inside the vehicle when recharging or replacing
the 12-volt battery. The key may be locked in the vehicle if the alarm is acti-
vated. (P. 9 3 )

When trouble arises
Charging the 12-volt battery
The electricity stored in the 12-volt battery will discharge gradually even when
the vehicle is not in use, due to natural discharge and the draining effects of cer-
tain electrical appliances. If the vehicle is left for a long time, the 12-volt battery
may discharge, and the hybrid system may be unable to start. (The 12-volt bat-
tery recharges automatically while the hybrid system is operating.)
WA R N I N G
Avoiding 12-volt battery fires or explosions
Observe the following precautions to prevent accidentally igniting the flamma-
ble gas that may be emitted from the 12-volt battery:
Make sure each jumper cable is connected to the correct terminal and that it is
not unintentionally in contact with any other than the intended terminal.
Do not allow the other end of the jumper cable connected to the “+” terminal
to come into contact with any other parts or metal surfaces in the area, such as
brackets or unpainted metal.
Do not allow the + and - clamps of the jumper cables to come into contact
with each other.
Do not smoke, use matches, cigarette lighters or allow open flame near the
12-volt battery.
12-volt battery precautions
The 12-volt battery contains poisonous and corrosive acidic electrolyte, while
related parts contain lead and lead compounds. Observe the following precau-
tions when handling the 12-volt battery:
When working with the 12-volt battery, always wear safety glasses and take
care not to allow any battery fluids (acid) to come into contact with skin,
clothing or the vehicle body.
Do not lean over the 12-volt battery.
In the event that battery fluid comes into contact with the skin or eyes, imme-
diately wash the affected area with water and seek medical attention.
Place a wet sponge or cloth over the affected area until medical attention can
be received.
Always wash your hands after handling the 12-volt battery support, terminals,
and other battery-related parts.
Do not allow children near the 12-volt battery.
After recharging the 12-volt battery
Have the 12-volt battery inspected at any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer,
or another duly qualified and equipped professional as soon as possible.
If the 12-volt battery is deteriorating, continued use may cause the 12-volt bat-
tery to emit a malodorous gas, which may be detrimental to the health of pas-
sengers.

6609-2. Customization
CT200h_OM_OM76102E_(EE)
Vehicle customization
When the speed linked door locking function and the shift position linked door
locking function are both on, the door lock operates as follows.
• When shifting the shift position to any position other than P, all the doors
will be locked.
• If the vehicle is started with all the doors locked, the speed linked door lock-
ing function would not operate.
• If the vehicle is started with any door unlocked, the speed linked door lock-
ing function will operate.
When the smart entry & start system is off, smart door unlocking cannot be cus-
tomized.
When the doors remain closed after unlocking the doors and the automatic door
lock function is activated, the signals will be generated in accordance with the
Operation signal (buzzer) and the Operation signal (emergency flashers) set-
tings.
In the following situations, customize mode in which the settings can be changed
through the multi-information display will automatically be turned off.
A warning message appears after the customize mode screen is displayed.
The power switch is turned off.
The vehicle begins to move while the customize mode screen is displayed.

Cautions during customization
As the hybrid system needs to be operating during customization, ensure that
the vehicle is parked in a place with adequate ventilation. In a closed area such
as a garage, exhaust gases including harmful carbon monoxide (CO) may col-
lect and enter the vehicle. This may lead to death or a serious health hazard.
NOTICE
During customization
To prevent 12-volt battery discharge, ensure that the hybrid system is operating
while customizing features.

CT200h_OM_OM76102E_(EE)
Is the child-protector lock set?
The rear door cannot be opened from inside the vehicle when the lock
is set. Open the rear door from outside and then unlock the child-pro-
tector lock. (P. 1 3 6 )
Did you press the power switch while firmly depressing the brake
pedal?
(P. 196)
Is the shift position in P? (P. 196)
Is the electronic key anywhere detectable inside the vehicle? (P. 143)
Is the electronic key battery weak or depleted?
In this case, the hybrid system can be started in a temporary way. (P.
623)
Is the 12-volt battery discharged? (P. 624)
Is the window lock switch pressed?
The power window except for the one at the driver’s seat cannot be
operated if the window lock switch is pressed. (P. 178)
The auto power off function will be operated if the vehicle is left in
ACCESSORY or ON mode (the hybrid system is not operating) for a
period of time. (P. 198) The rear door cannot be opened
If you think something is wrong
The hybrid system does not start
The windows do not open or close by operating the power window
switches
The power switch is turned off automatically
