flashing. The engine management system hasa fault. Risk of destruction of the catalytic converter.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
fixed. The emission control system has afault. The warning lamp should go off when the engine is started.
If it does not go off, contact a CITROËN dealer or qualified
workshop without delay.
Anti-lockBraking System(ABS)
fixed. The anti-lock braking system has a
fault. The vehicle retains conventional braking.
Drive carefully at reduced speed and contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop without delay.
Brakingfixed. The braking system fluid level has
dropped significantly. You must stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
Top up with brake fluid listed by CITROËN.
If the problem persists, have the system checked by aCITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.

Before doing anything under the bonnet, switch off the ignition (Ready
lamp off) to avoid any risk of injury resulting fromautomatic operation of the engine. Th
e brake fluid level should be close
to the "MA X" mark. If it is not, check
the brake pad wear.
Brake fluid level
Changing the fl uid
Refer to the servicing and warranty booklet for
details of the interval for this operation.
Fluid specifi cation
The brake fluid must conform to themanufacturer's recommendations and meet the
DOT3 or DOT4 standard.
The power steerin
g fluid level should be close to the "MA X" mark. With
the engine cold, unscrew the cap to check the level.
Power steering fluid levelCoolant level
The coolant level should be closeto the "MAX" mark but should never exceed it.
When the en
gine is warm, the temperature of
the coolant is regulated by the fan. This can
operate with the ignition off.
On vehicles which are fitted with a particle
emission filter, the fan may operate after
the vehicle has been switched off, even if
the en
gine is cold.
In addition, as the cooling system ispressurised, wait at least one hour after
switching off the engine before carryingout any work. To avoid any risk of scalding, unscrewthe cap by two turns to allow the pressure to drop. When the pressure has dropped, remove the cap and top upthe level.
Changing the coolant
The coolant does not have to be changed.
Fluid specifi cation
The coolant must conform to the
manufacturer's recommendations.

6-speed electronic gearbox
The gearbox does not require anymaintenance (no oil change).
Refer to the ser vicing and warranty
booklet for details of the checking interval for this component.
Brake wear depends on the st
yle
of driving, par ticularly in the case
of vehicles used in town, over shor tdistances. It may be necessary tohave the condition of the brakes checked, evenbetween vehicle services.
Unless there is a leak in the circuit, a drop in
the brake fluid level indicates that the brakepads are worn.
Brake pads
For information on checking brake
disc wear, contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
Brake disc wear
Electric parking brake
This system does not require anyroutine servicing. However, in the
event of a problem, have the system checked by a CITROËN dealer or aqualified workshop.
Only use products recommended by CITROËN or products of equivalent quality and specification. In order to optimise the operationof units as impor tant as the braking system, CITROËN selects and offers
very specific products.
After washing the vehicle, dampness,or in wintry conditions, ice, can formon the brake discs and pads: braking efficiency may be reduced. Make lightbrake applications to dry and defrostthe brakes.
For more in
formation, refer to the "Electric parking brake - Operating faults" section.
