Lateral airbags
Deployment
The lateral airbags are deployed unilaterally in
the event of a serious side impact applied to all
or par t o
f the side impact zone B , perpendicular
to the longitudinal centreline of the vehicle on a horizontal plane and directed from the outside
towards the inside of the vehicle.
The lateral airba
g inflates between the hip andshoulder of the front occupant of the vehicle
and the corresponding door trim panel.
Impact detection zones
A. Front impact zone.
B. Side impact zone.
Curtain airbags
System which protects the driver and passengers (with the exception of the rear centre passenger) in the event of a serious sideimpact in order to limit the risk of injury to the side of the head.
Each cur tain airbag is built into the pillars and
the upper passen
ger compar tment area.
Deployment
The cur tain airbag is deployed at the same
time as the corresponding lateral airbag in the event of a serious side impact applied to all or
part of the side impact zone B , perpendicular
to the longitudinal centreline of the vehicle on a
horizontal plane and directed from the outside
towards the inside of the vehicle.
The cur tain airbag inflates between the front or
rear occupant of the vehicle and the windows.
Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes on in the instrument panel, accompanied by an
audible signal and a message in thescreen, contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop to have the system checked. The airbags may no longer be
deployed in the event of a serious impact.
In the event of a minor impact or bump on the side of the vehicle or if the vehicle rolls over, the airbag may not be
deployed.
In the event of a rear or front collision, the airbag is not deployed.
System which protects the driver and frontpassenger in the event of a serious side impact
in order to limit the risk of in
jury to the chest,
between the hip and the shoulder.
Each lateral airba
g is fitted in the seat backrestframe, door side.

Gear shift indicator
The system adapts its gear change recommendation according to thedriving conditions (slope, load, ...) andthe demands of the driver (power, acceleration, braking, ...). The system never suggests:
- engaging first gear,
- engaging reverse gear,
- engaging a lower gear. S
ystem which reduces fuel consumption by advising the driver to change up.
With an electronic gearbox, the system is only active in Manual mode.
Operation
Depending on the driving situation and your
vehicle's equipment, the system may advise you to skip one (or more) gear(s). You can follow this instruction without engaging the
intermediate gears.
The
gear engagement recommendations mustnot be considered compulsory. In fact, the configuration of the road, the amount of trafficand safety remain determining factors whenchoosing the best gear. Therefore, the driver remains responsible for deciding whether or not
to follow the advice given by the system.
This function cannot be deactivated.
Example:
- You are in third
gear.
The information appears in the instrument panel in the form of an arrow.
On vehicles with manual gearbox, the arrow can be accompanied by the recommendedgear.
- Yo u
press the accelerator pedal.
- The s
ystem may suggest that you engage ahigher gear.

Creep function
(6-speed electronic gearbox
system)
This function allows the vehicle to be manoeuvred more easily at low speeds (whenparking, in traffic jams...).
With the gear lever in position A
, Mor R, the vehicle moves as soon as you take your foot off the brake pedal
, at low speed and
with the engine at idle.
) Release the parking brake. )
Progressively take your foot off the brake
pedal.
)Accelerate away.
Vehicles fitted with the 6 -speed
electronic gearbox system then move off on their own (refer to the paragraph"Creep function").
Do not leave children unsuper visedinside the vehicle when the engine is running.
You must keep your foot on the brake pedal while star ting the engine.
Do not press the brake and clutch
pedals simultaneously. This can causerapid clutch wear.

when star ting.
The creep function may be temporarilyunavailable if the clutch temperature istoo high or the slope too steep.

Manual mode
The gears engaged appear in
succession in the instrument
panel.
The
gear change requests are only carried out
if the engine speed permits.
It is not necessary to release the accelerator
pedal during gear changes.
When braking or slowing down, the gearbox changes down automatically so that the vehicle
picks up in the right gear.
Under
full acceleration, the change up will
not take place unless the driver operates the
gear lever or steering mounted control paddle(unless the engine is close to its maximumspeed).
Te m p o r a ry control of gear changing
You can temporarily take over control of gear changes using the steering mounted "+"and "-"control paddles: if the engine speed allows, the gear change is carried out.
This function allows you to anticipate cer tain
situations such as over taking another vehicle or approaching a bend.
After a few moments without any action on thepaddles, the gearbox resumes control of gear changing automatically.
Automated mode
AUTOand the gear engaged appear
in the instrument panel.
The
gearbox then operates in auto-adaptive mode, without any action on the par t of the
driver. It continuously selects the most suitable gear taking account of:
- optimisation of fuel consumption,
- driving style,
- road conditions,
- v
ehicle load.
For optimum acceleration, when over takinganother vehicle for example, press the
accelerator pedal fully down, beyond the point of resistance.
You can change mode at any time bymoving the gear lever from A
to Mor the other way round.

In exceptional circumstances, the gearbox may need an automaticreinitialisation: starting and gear changing are no longer possible.
Reverse
To e ngage reverse, the vehicle must be
immobilised with your foot on the brake. )Select position R.
Operating fault
With the ignition on, if this warninglamp comes on and AUTOflashes,
accompanied by an audible signal
and a message in the multifunction
screen, this indicates a gearbox
fault.Have it checked by a CITROËN
dealer or a qualified workshop.
At low speed, if reverse gear is requested,
the N warning lamp flashes and the gearbox
goes into neutral automatically.
To e n
gage reverse, put the gear lever intoposition N
, then to position R
.
Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine:
- change to position N
to be in neutral,or
- leave the vehicle in gear; in this case the
vehicle cannot be moved.
Reinitialisation

gearbox)
Following disconnection of the battery, it is
necessary to reinitialise the gearbox. ) Switch on the ignition.

Follow the procedure described above.
Before doing anything under thebonnet, ensure that the gear lever is in neutral (position N) and that the parking brake is applied.
There is an audible signal on engagement of reverse.
For all parking situations, you mustapply the parking braketo immobilise the vehicle.
When immobilising the vehicle with the engine running, you must put the gear lever into neutral (position N)
