Service interval display
The service interval display reminds you when
your next service is due .

The schedule for the next oil change o r inspec­
tion is calculated automatically and displayed
according ly . The display works in two stages:
Service reminder
30 days before the next service is due, a serv­
ice reminder appears in the display when you
switch the ignition o n

After about 5 seconds the display sw itches
back to normal. The distance and time re­
maining are updated each time the ignition is
switched on until the date due for service is
reached.
Service due
When the due date for service is reached, the
message
Service due! appears in the instru­
ment cluster immediately after you switch the
ignition on. Additionally, a warn ing tone
sounds. After about 5 seconds the display
switches back to normal.
Calling up the service schedules
If or when an oil change or inspect ion is due,
can be shown in the MMI display by select ing
the service interva l disp lay in the car menu .
Select the
!CAR ! function button> (Car)* sys­
tems
control button > Servicing & checks >
Service interval displays. In new vehicles, the
schedule can only be called up after approxi­ mately S00 km.
Resetting the service interval display
Your authorized Audi dea ler will reset the cor­
responding service schedule after performing
the appropriate service on your vehicle. You
also have the possibility to reset the oil
change schedule after having performed an
oil change according to Audi specifications.
Select the
ICAR I function button> (Car)* sys­
tems
control button > Servicing & checks >
Service Intervals> Reset oil change interval.

If you disconnect the battery term inals, no
calculations can be made for the service
i nterval display during th is time and no
serv ice reminder will appear. Remember
that observing the proper service in tervals
i s vitally important to extending the life of
your vehicle, particularly the engine, and maintain ing its value. Even if the mileage
driven is low, the maximum period of one
year from one service to the next must not
be exceeded.

changes, otherwise the display w ill be in ­

- The information in the Service Reminder
remains stored even when the vehicle
battery is disconnected.

Check light in the master key
The check light @ in the master key provides
information about different cond itions .
• The check light comes on briefly once when
a button is pressed, and during an "inquiry"
by the conven ience key system .
• If the check light does not come on, the
battery is dead and has to be replaced. In
addition, when the battery is dead the

symbol appears in the instrument cluster

change key battery .
Master key battery replacement
• Pull the mechanical key out of the master
key
c::> page 33.
• Press the release button @ on the battery
holder and at the same time pull the battery
holder out of the master key in the direction
of the arrow.
• Install the new battery CR 2032 with the
"+ " sign facing down.
• Push the battery holder carefully into the
maste r key .
• Install the mechanical key.

Dispose of dead batteries properly so as
not to pollute the environment .

The replacement battery must be the
same specification as the original.
, Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer helps to prevent unauthor­
ized use of your vehicle .
A computer chip inside your key automatically
deactivates the electronic immobilizer when
the key is inside the vehicle. When you remove
the key from the vehicle, the electronic immo­
bilizer is automatically activated once again .
A WARNING
-
Always take the key with you when you
leave the vehicle. The key can disarm the
e lectronic engine immobilizer and permit
an unauthorized person to start the engine
and enable operation of the vehicle sys­
tems such as power window or power sun­
roof leading to serious personal injury.
(D Tips
- Th e vehicle cannot be started if an una u­
thorized key is used. The vehicle may not
start if another radio device such as a key

In vehicles with all-wea ther lights , the front

T he head lights do not blind oncoming traffic
i f the veh icle load changes . The headligh t
range also adj usts automatically when brak­
ing and accelerating .
Light functions
The following light funct io ns are availab le de­
pend ing on vehicle equipment and o nly func­
tion when t he lig ht switch is in the AUTO posi­
tion . You can deactivate these functions in the
MMI under
Audi adaptive light c::> page 44.
Vehicles with St atic corn ering light* : the cor­
ner ing ligh t sw itches on a utomat ically when
the steering whee l is turned at a certain angle
at speeds up to approximately 44 mph
( 7 0 km/h) and when the turn signa l is activat ­
ed at speeds up to approximately 25 mph
(40 km/h) . The area to the side of the vehicle
is illum inated better when turn ing .
Vehicles with
Dynamic cu rve light* : the curve
light only functions at speeds between ap­
proximately 6 mph (10 km/h) and 68 mph
(110 km/h) and adapts itself to the curves in
the road .

- Objects falling from the roof of a vehicle
can cause a crash and personal injury .
- Only mount the roof rack on the desig­
nated locations on the roof

exactly according to the instructions pro­
vided.
- When driving with a roof rack system,
changes to the center of gravity and wind
resistance can change the veh icle han­
dling and lead to a collision . Always
adapt your driv ing and your speed to the
cu rrent conditions .

-Your vehicle warranty does not cover any
damages to the veh icle caused by using
r oof racks or mount ing structures not
approved by Audi for your vehicle . The
same applies to damage resulti ng from
i n co rrec t roof rack installation .
- Always check the roof rack mountings
and hardware before each t rip and dur­
i ng a tr ip to make sure eve rything is se­
cu rely tightened . If necessary, retighten
the mo untings and check the entire sys­
tem from time to time.
- After mounting a roof rack system, or when you transport objects on the roof
of your ve hicle, the height of the vehicle
i s natura lly increased. Be careful when
driving under low br idges or i n parking
garages for examp le . This could cause
damage to the load and even the vehicle i tse lf.
- Make sure the open rear lid and the sun ­
r oof* do not come into contact with the
r oof rack .
Loading the roof rack
Always distribute loads evenly. Make sure
anything on the roof rack is securely tied
down .

.. Always attach items to the roof rack sec ure-
ly before yo u drive off.
The maximum permissible roof weight is
2 20 lb (100 kg ). The roof we ight is the total
of the we ight of the roof rack, t he attach­
ments and the cargo you a re ca rrying. You
must also not exceed the max imum load
weight for the roof rack yo u are using .
When using a roof rack system which has a lower load ca rrying capaci ty, you must not use
u p the tot al maxim um permiss ible load car ry­
ing capacity specif ied above . Ins tead, you
sho uld load the roof rack system only to the
maximum capacity specified by the manufac ­
turer of the roof rack system .
A WARNING
-Weak, damaged or improper straps used
to secure items to the roof rack can fail
during hard braking or in a coll is io n and
cause ser ious personal inju ry .
- Make sure the roof rack is installed exact­
ly
as specified above i:> page 61.
-Always use su itable mount ing straps for
secur ing items to the roof rack to help
p revent items from sh ifting or flying for­
ward .
- Items on the roof rack must always be securely mounted .
- The use of a roof rack can negatively af ­
fect the way a veh icle hand les . Cargo
that is large, heavy, bulky, long or flat
will h ave a greater negat ive i nfl uence on
t he vehicle's aerodynamics, center of
grav ity and overall handling . Always
drive s lowly, avoid sudden braking and
maneuvers when t ransporting cargo on
the roof of your vehicle .

What can adaptive cruise control do?
The adaptive cruise control system uses video,
radar and ultrasou nd. Moving vehicles ahead
can be recognized up to about 650 feet (200 m) away.
On open roads w ith no traffic, adaptive cruise
control works like a regular cruise control sys­
tem. The stored speed is maintained. When
approaching a moving vehicle detected up
ahead, the adaptive cruise control system au­
tomatically s lows down to match that vehi­
cle's speed and then maintains the distance
that the driver previous ly stored. As soon as
the system does not detect a vehicle up
ahead, adaptive cruise control accelerates
back up to the stored speed.
In stop-and-go traffic, adapt ive cru ise control
can brake until the vehicle stops and acceler­
ate again under certain conditions and if this
is possible within the system's limits and ca­
pabilities¢

will not make an emergency stop .
Which functions can be controlled?
When you switch adaptive cruise contro l on,
you can set the current speed as the "control
speed" ¢

You can set any speed between 20 mph and
95 mp h (30 and 150 km/h).
Ind icator lamps and messages in the instru­
ment cluster d isplay inform you about the cur­
rent system status and settings.
An additional indicator appears in the Head­
up D isplay*.

when traveling at 62 mph (100 km/h), or a
time interval of 1.3 seconds .
~--- ~-Distance 3: This setting corre­
sponds to a distance of 164 feet/SO meters
when traveling at 62 mph (100 km/h), or a
time interval of 1.8 seconds .

sponds to a distance of 210 feet/64 meters
when traveling at 62 mph (100 km/h), or a

Following other vehicles too closely in­
creases the risk of co llisions and serious

- Setting short distances to the traffic
ahead reduces the t ime and distance
available to br ing your vehicle to a safe
stop and makes it even more necessary
to pay close attention to traffic.

good judgment, and select a safe follow­
ing distance for the traffic, road and

trol system is not enough to maintain enough
distance to the vehicle ahead .

Active Lane assist
Description
Applies to vehicles: with active lane assist
Active lane assist helps you keep your vehicle
in your lane.
Active lane assist detects lane marker lines
within the limits of the system using a camera in the windshield . If you are approaching a de­
tected lane marker line and it appears likely
that you w ill leave the lane, the system will
warn you by means of corrective steer ing . T he
driver can over ride the cor re ct ive steer ing at
any time. If the veh icle crosses a line, the d riv­
er is also warned by a light
vibration in the
steering whee l. The vibration warning must
be switched on in the MMI for this to happen.
Active lane ass ist is operable when the line
marking the lane is detected on at least one
side of the vehicle .
If the system is in active standby mode and
the turn signa l is activated before driving over
the lane marker line, the warning does not oc­
cur since the system allows for intentional lane changes .
The system is designed for driv ing on free­
ways and expanded highways and thus works
only at speeds of 40 mph (65 km/h) or more .
If the vehicle is also equipped with Audi adap­
tive cruise control*, the corrective steering
will be more specif ic in regard to the driving
situation . In addition to the lane marker lines,
the system can a lso take into acco unt other
objects such as guard rails. If they are detect­
ed i n close proximity to the veh icle, Audi a c­
tive lane ass ist helps prevent the vehi cle from
driving too close to them . The re is also pass­
ing assistance. The system does not provide
any corrective steering if it detects that you
are passing another vehicle.
A WARNING
- The system warns the driver that the ve­
hicle is leaving the lane us ing corrective

steer ing. The driver is always responsible
for keeping the vehicle within the lane.
- The system can assist the driver in keep­
ing the vehicle in the lane, but it does
not steer by itself. A lways keep your
hands on the steering wheel.
- Corrective steering may not occur in cer­ tain sit uat ions, such as dur ing heavy
brak ing.
- The camera does not recognize all lane
marker lines. Corrective steer ing can only
take p lace on the side of the vehicle
where lane marker lines are detected .
- Other road structures or objects cou ld
possibly be identified un intent ionally as
lane ma rker lines. As a result, cor rect ive
steer ing may be unexpected or may not
oc cur .
- The camera view can be restricted, for
examp le by vehicles driving ahead o r by
r ai n, snow, heavy spray or light s hining
into the camera. This can result in a ctive
lane assist not detecting the lane marke r
lines or detect ing them inco rrectly .
- Unde r ce rtain condi tions such as ruts in
the road, a banked roadway or cross­
winds, the corrective stee ring alone may
not be enough to keep the vehicle in the
lane.
- For safety reasons, active lane ass ist
must not be used when there are poor
road and/or weather condit ions such as
slippery roads, fog, gravel, heavy rai n,
snow and the potent ial for hydroplaning .
Using act ive lane assist under thes e con­
ditions may increase the risk of a crash.
