Use the lock\fng cl\fp attached to the ch\fld restra\fnt

and strength.
Be sure to follow the ch\fld restra\fnt s\bstem
manufacturer’s \fnstruct\fons for belt rout\fng.
4. Test the ch\fld restra\fnt s\bstem before \bou place the ch\fld \fn \ft. T\flt \ft from s\fde to s\fde. Tr\b to tug \ft
forward and check \ff \ft \fs held securel\b \fn place.
5. Make sure that the ch\fld restra\fnt s\bstem \fs properl\b secured pr\for to each use.

WARNING:
.Never install a rear-facing child restraint on
the front passenger’s seat when the front
passenger’s air bag is equipped. Supple-
mental front-impact air bags inflate with
great force. A rear-facing child restraint
could be struck by the supplemental front-
impact air bags in an accident and could
seriously injure or kill your child.
. Never install a child restraint system with a
top tether strap on the front seat.
. RENAULT recommends that a child restraint
system be installed on the rear seat. How-
ever, if you must install a front-facing child
restraint system on the front passenger’s
seat, move the passenger’ s seat to the
rearmost position.
. Child restraints for infants must be used in
the rear-facing direction and therefore must
not be used on the front passenger’s seat
when the front passenger’ s air bag isequipped.

on the front seat, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the front passenger’s a\fr bag us\fng the front passenger a\fr bag sw\ftch. (See “Supple-
mental a\fr bag s\bstems” (P.1-29) .) Place the
\fgn\ft\fon sw\ftch \fn the “ON” pos\ft\fon and make
sure that the front a\fr bag status l\fght
on the
\fnstrument panel \fllum\fnates (\ff equ\fpped) .

2. Move the seat to the rearmost position*1.

4. Position the front-facin\b child restraint system on the front passen\ber’s seat. It should be placed in
the front-facin\b direction only.

5. Route the seat belt ton\bue throu\bh the childrestraint system and insert it into the buckle until
you hear and feel the latch en\ba\be.

6. To prevent slack in the lap belt, it is necessary tosecure the shoulder belt in place with a lockin\b
clip
*A. Use the lockin\b clip attached to the child
restraint system, or one which is equivalent in
dimensions and stren\bth.
Be sure to follow the child restraint system
manufacturer’s instructions for belt routin\b.
7. Slide the seat forward so that the seat belt fully ti\bhtens the child restraint system.
8. Test the child restraint system before you place the child in it. Tilt it from side to side. Try to tu\b it
forward and check if it is held securely in place.
9. Make sure that the child restraint system is properly secured prior to each use.

REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT PROCE-
DURE
WARNING:
.Once the air bags have been inflated, the air
bag modules will not function and must be
replaced. The air bag modules must be
replaced by a RENAULT dealer. The inflated
air bag modules cannot be repaired.
. The air bag systems should be inspected by
a RENAULT dealer if there is any damage to
the front end or side portion of the vehicle.
. If you need to dispose of the SRS or scrap
the vehicle, contact a RENAULT dealer.
Correct disposal procedures are set forth in
the appropriate RENAULT Service Manual.
Incorrect disposal procedures could cause
personal injury.
The \fir b\f\bs \fre desi\bned to \fctiv\fte on \f one-time-
only b\fsis. As \f reminder, unless the SRS \fir b\f\b
w\frnin\b li\bht is d\fm\f\bed, the SRS \fir b\f\b w\frnin\b
li\bht rem\fins illumin\fted \ffter infl\ftion h\fs occurred.
The rep\fir \fnd repl\fcement of the SRS should be
done only by \f RENAULT de\fler.
When m\finten\fnce work is required on the vehicle,
inform\ftion \fbout the \fir b\f\bs \fnd rel\fted p\frts should
be pointed out to the person performin\b the m\fin-
ten\fnce. The i\bnition switch should \flw\fys be in the
“LOCK” position when workin\b under the hood or
inside the vehicle.
